So with the Shadowlands Pre Patch, a lot of people are spending their time leveling up new alts (including me)! And therefore, I have decided to test out different leveling strategies, to find out which one is most optimal, and just to test out the leveling speeds of different ways to level. For this, I have looked at Questing, Dungeon Leveling, Herbalism & Mining, and last but not least, Battle Pet Leveling. I tested each method for one hour each, and in this video I present the results! Hopefully this will help some of you in your leveling adventures!

Hmm I guess if you want to lvl through gathering vashjir is the location to go 😀 ofc if you are druid
It is worth mentioning that questing was done from level 20-26, while other methods were tested at higher levels.
Leveling time increases as you get to a higher level, so it is possible that for example at level 35, Battle Pet Leveling is faster than questing at level 35. I am leveling a new set of alts right now and will let you guys know what I find out on Discord if you're interested (link in description) ^^
If anyone is considering a leveling route strictly through gathering just keep in mind that you won't get any gear upgrades while you do it. If you do 5-10 levels and try to start questing again it can be a bit rough.
Thank for the information! I'll definitely keep this in mind while leveling my characters
Great info man!!
thanks for the guide man!
I like lvling with gathering professions. It’s definitely not the fastest but very easy, relaxing and comparable to speed of casual questing. For alliance I especially like herbalism in Teldrassil since it’s a small zone with descent bode density and I can easily use warmode without being ganked.
Battle pet leveling is the best for the effort you put in, you have to just press all 10 sec a button and can watch something else.
Also wait when you do for example classic instances whit all the q and maybe hope expansion this sounds like you could get some pretty fast 50.
I think it about levels. i think from 48-50 is best to herb, from 40-48 to do pets. i can do like 50 battles in 1h 7% exp each. on quests you need more time than 1 quest in 1 minute, and its gives a bit less exp.

What about island expeditions? You get rougly 50% of the level per one expedition.
Thanks for your unique take on leveling methods here! I really appreciate the research; gives us a lot of options.
Would be nice if you included how much gold you made /hour from leveling with professions. Otherwise good video.
Your dungeon leveling doesnt mean much, because you picked an odd xpac, and your xp is extremely dependant on the group you get. Since tons of beginners end up in bfa, id expect it to be terrible.
For me, pally tanking 1-50 going blood elf questing to 10, grinding bc dungeons to about 37, then grinding wotlk to 46, then mop to 50 took 10.5 hours. Thats with 100% pug groups, no rested and no xp potions. I did flask, eat, and fully enchant boas. Skipped legion, because it took 17 hours doing nothing but legion dumgeons on another char.
I'm not certain which xpac is best to dungeon in after bc… not sold on wotlk. Gundrak and strathholm are bad.
