Who Wanted This!? Asmongold Reacts to "What's Happening Now with Shadowlands?" | By Preach

Asmongold watches a video by Preach, who comments on Shadowlands Systems bloat and the recent changes to balance the utter chaos of the Soulbind & Conduit system, offered by Shadowlands Covenants, possibly the most important feature of the next expansion. Will Shadowlands being delayed give blizzard enough time to solve all these issues?…

  1. The system bloat is blizz compensating for the fact that the current team doesn't know how to make a world based on the player's interaction with it as well as with each other. This is more relevant now that Classic exists for clear comparison. In modern WoW you're not entering some living world, you are entering a cheap Diablo 3 clone.

  2. I think they make these complicated systems to prevent or minimize us just choosing what is best based off sims or whatever the top players are choosing to maximize performance. It’s an MMORPG, we all want our characters to perform at their best. Blizzard should just accept this and just make things that make us more powerful a little more difficult to obtain. Whether my opinion is right or wrong, nothing will change unless they change their philosophy of what we find entertaining in terms of overall gameplay loop and rewards obtained from it.

  3. "Even on Mythic it's easy" says the asshole that doesn't tank anything but Classic or outdated raids two tiers behind when he feels like logging in and everyone caters to him. Please Asmon enlighten the class with a stream of you tanking a Mythic 15 or Mythic raid. We're all dying to see it.

  4. "Tanking is better now that you're just a Dps with agro"

Hard disagree, from a Prot Paladin perspective.
Tanking as Prot in TBC was a unique and interesting experience. You had to pull each pack in a different way. You had to pre react and position carefully and with knowledge based off where add packs were going to spawn in order to pick them up. You had a diverse and interesting tool kit. You had entire professions that could change the way you approached a fight (engineering rockets trinket.)

From WOTLK onwards it's like an exceptionally dumbed down Dps. You press like 3 buttons whenever they are off cooldown without any thought. You see a pack? You press Avenger's Shield and you have agro on all of them until they're dead. No thought, no skill, no interactivity.

There are parts of it that are better. Defensive cooldowns are more interesting now, and managing interrupts / stuns / disorients is a nice skill cap.

But the actual tanking? So, so boring.

  5. Just fucking stop shoving systems down our throats, no one fucking wanted this bull shit.
And these fucking systems just make no sense…I mean they took away all the old "complicated " talent trees but then you add in a mother fucking shit ton of "talents" locked behind systems….
Just give us all the cool shit once we level to max and let us play your fucking game with out and endless grind, go back to the mop/wod/cata/wrath model. Level, take talents, play game…

  6. Instead of quality, we have quantity and they are surprised that why we want to change things or don't like them. If they would give us a good talent tree where actually it would make a difference to choose some other talents… now we have basically one "meta" in the conduits and if Blizzard/devs thought that they gave us other and lots of (generic) options to choose from- but they are trash, so you will go with the best one. If they would give us fewer options but actually with a real difference, where you are forced to think if you should take this or that one, that would be good design. Now you only think you have plenty of options but in reality, you don't.

  7. I'm against Covenants in the first place anyway… I think game-MMORPG(in this case) should be about you and your character and your attacks should be through the character, not from borrowed powers and NPCs, etc..so not gonna lie, to see how it is struggling, even before release, it´s good both for me and for the game itself too-I hope they will realize this is not the way…

  8. Rather than doing all of that crap that lasts for only 1 expansion, they could have come up with something that innovates the talents in interesting new ways (imagine you unlock a 4th row, or you can pick 2 in one row 1-2 times). Or introduce something like ultimate abilities with huge cooldowns (multiple hours or 1 day) and large effects, where one player could do something epic – but other players are blocked from using their ultimates (similar to bloodlust mechanic).

Or introduce a new class with the armor type… let's see… how about LEATHER? Another energy based, melee fighter? Or you introduce a new role: Supporter. Rather than just dealing damage directly, you buff others to deal more damage, heal more or tank better. Finding a way to track your net DPS/HPS might be the greatest challenge – how about you buff +40% extra dmg up to 10000 bonus damage dealt, which is then attributed to you?

Or rework stats in a way where it's not just about a > b > c > d, but rather meaningful choice: Haste reduces cooldowns and improves CDs; Crit increases critical chance and effect at once (but with a good formula where chance remains relatively low); Mastery improves 1-3 ability aspects of choice (imagine you improve charge range, mortal strike heal-red, slow); Versatility improves your durability (more health, self-heal, less CC). Or you rework how CCs work in PvP.

  9. What would have been cool is if they kept the legion weapons and added a talent tree to that that made ur char different like for example a afflic lock and ur weapon has 2 or 3 branches and u can only choose 1 branch, so 1 branch will empower ur dots and make u a dot heavy spec and the other will empower ur drains i think that would be cool.
Same with warriors do u want a melee heavy spec or bleed heavy spec stuff like that.

  11. Why the fuck is asmon talking about how tanks don't take enough dmg to then say that he's talking about HEROIC RAIDS.
Like why even mention anything if your reference point is heroic raids.

You don't even tank and barely even dps heroic so idk why you'd ever try and talk about how tanks work in any type of content about how much dmg tanks take.

For the people saying healers are healers and should heal herp derp
Tanks and healers are pretty much a 4th and 5th dps in a sense.
If you dont think they are then you're simply not someone who plays retail in this day and age.

  12. I loved tanking in WOTLK i gemmed like all strength by the end of the expansion hahaha. More damage more threat hahaha

Edit: said by a warrior, but i saw a lot of damaged out DK tanks too. Cant speak for bear or pally though. Always preferred warrior MT though haha, DK did look kinda fun. Leveled my alt as a bear tank but went tree heals at 80, good raid heals, bad tank heals lol. Ahh the days of imbalance…

  13. When BFA was announced, nothing they featured interested me one bit. Nice to see they're still retaining the core design philosophy that's repelling me away.

Sometimes I pity all these Internet personalities/channels who still need to play the game – no matter how lousy it gets – in order to maintain the bread and butter. Glad I can just punch out without needing to look back.

  14. What you are describing is what people have been cursing retail about for years now as every character can do now everything and nobody can be unique. Why not have a single class call,it Hybrid or maybe Generic? To me a good tank has insane protection and health. The idea my damage is less than a DPS class isn't important as like it or not admit it or not I do asva classic tank do damage.

  15. Tanked with warrior since BC, and must say, never had so much fun tanking as in WotLK xD Have been out of WoW for like 5 years give or take, and was actually considering to come back with this new expansion… but damn, things are so different..

  16. Lol I don't follow WoW, but I remember when Shadowlands got announced and a few things were shown from it. Shadowlands was supposed to be the WoW saver. But now it seems like the final WoW killer.

  17. Heres the funny thing about these types of videos and the haters that you see in chat and in the comments.

Usually the loudest, most annoying haters are the people that are in a minority of the playerbase, so we see all this bullshit and the retards saying "wow is dead" and shit like "wow killed itself" which will never be true because spergs have been spamming that since pre-wrath…
But it also means theres a big possibility the mayority of the playerbase doesnt give a fuck, you dont hear from the people who are satisfied with it, you dont hear from the players who are enjoying themselves because theyre enjoying themselves.

Same with the minmaxers, theyre in a minority of the playerbase but since they cant minmax the way they want to theyre gonna be loud about it.

    Its kinda funny
