Well! Heroic Ansurek is down, Zekvir ?? has been destroyed, Mythic plus has been… largely avoided. It’s time for us to review War Within season 1 and see how the game is doing as we go forward.

omg THANK YOU for talking about the shit-fuck gearing system. i finally quit WoW (probably not for good but for a long while) because while it was a lot better for casually playing, it was still dogshit trying to keep up with gearing. i don't want to have to log in every damn day and do world quests to get these stupid fucking valorstones man. some bullshit. thank you for saying it lmao
Am i the only one who still sometimes calls this channel Mike Preach WoW?
Anyway hes right about all of this, especially the gear. Beyond that its why theres so much bloat. We are back if not above MoP numbers because theres 4 different raid tiers that have like a 40 ilvl difference each.
Blizzards needs to bring back faction wars and world pvp back into WoW. Add a 3rd Evil faction where players can join and destroy the Alliance and the Horde. Have a large world pvp like GW2. All 3 faction fighting all at once.
Blizzard needs to put " War" back into Warcraft. Non of this Carbear garbage they are trying to sale.
As a returning player who last playedback in SL, this is my take on where the expansion is now:
1. Crest, crests and more crests. I was looking forward to playing alts at a "decent level in M+/HC Raid" and maybe going into some mythic raid later in the season. Yes there is catchup mechanics for crests BUT i have to read guides, watch videos and read websites to just understand whats what. Decent level im having fun at is aroud +10-12 and 4-5 in Mythic. I have actually NOT made any alts because i just cant be fucked going trough the same shopping list and stuff just to play an alt at a somewhat ok level of difficulty.
2. The M+ grind is less of wanting to go in to do a key and more about how to farm crests best. On top of that i hate the affix system, i wish they had a extra mechanic on a boss or just tuned it harder and harder in HP/DMG as these affixes are not optimized for loads of the dungeons. Why am i doing old dungeons again and all my orbs ends up in the water or getting fed to a boss/mob where we cant do anything about it? Just adding randomness to old dungeons and bricking keys left and right because of it is NOT fun.
3. "Renown farming" is so useless i havent even done world quests in Hallowfall and barely any in spider zone. Gear is fully outdated by the time i get to the renown and then on top of that you have to do the crest and valorstone grind. zzz
4. Lagfest delux. I can have 165 fps in main city, move 20 feet and be at 25 or even just having 3-4-5 second delays on a speedboost on a mount. When it comes to raiding its actually not fun doing 20 man and deffo not 30 man. Either fix your shitty engine or maybe go down in numbers. Most fun i had personally in wow was 10 man ulduar o7
Enough yapping. Decenlty good expansion in some areas, but still BFA/SL grindfests, too many currency/mats and cant do end content in bigger groups is a big let down for me.
As someone who really enjoyed M+ in Legion and BfA then didn't play Shadowlands and Dragonflight, current M+ feels like a joke in comparison. Keys feel a lot easier than they used to. Sadly people are also a lot more willing to give up early. You can easily pug through +10s. You can also have every other +4 fall apart due to peoples negativity and willingness to just not care.
Not enough time to do what I want to do.
Lol anyone else see these types of videos around the corner back when everyone was praising TWW? I didn't even hit level 80. 😕
I did not play this expansion at all. The early access killed all hype I had for war within, I have the money for it so that is not an issue for me. I just hate early access so much that it removes any other excitement I have for the game.
Haven't played it. Bought it and went back to where I left off with Shadowlands. I've spent a month just doing time walking and obsolete quests for everything beyond nathria when I quit last time. It was easier to just roll an alt and start dragonflight. I'm doing chapter 1 there and war within is passing me by. Probably won't get around to it until the next expac drops and everyone leaves the zones, thereby granting access to quest mobs
I'm enjoying it u miserable cunt
Mike helped me decide whether it is "time to come home." The answer is no. Give me challenging and rewarding solo content (or 2-3 people) and I'll consider it. Thanks Mike 👍
TWW S1 is the worst M+ season ever. Very overtuned and underrewarded M+, reaching full myth vault is no longer in reach for average players. Low keys made useless by delves, mid-high keys massacring people who start M+ after maxing out delves. Let's leave this "people don't know about m+ level adjustment" behind already. People either know or don't – it doesn't matter. Problem is that keys aren't 10 levels more difficult than they used to be before the adjustment, more like 12 levels. And that leads to the problem stated above – myth gear is more or less out of reach for people who used to have access to it in DF.
I partly disagree on gear system being bad. It's the best ever – however it could definitely use a bit of simplification. Basically the 2 lowest tracks could safely be removed for starters. Crest names should match the gear track names and so on.
As a returning player from Legion I totally agree, the gearing is cofunsing and I did alot of mistakes wasting currency that's "season capped" for some reason
First time since MOP when I cancel my sub in the first 3 months of an expansion release.
I see this video was released a couple weeks ago, so this comment will probably never be seen, but I may be in a unique position. I'm not good at the game. Reflexes are slow, and I struggle to really comprehend the subtleties of the game. Hey, I'm a grandma, and so I don't have the advantage of the youth in growing up with this stuff. However, I do love the game – the fantasy of riding/flying in a vibrant world, fighting the bad guys, being a hero… You get it, I'm sure. One thing Mike touched on that resonates with me is time-gating story. I love WoW's story so it's especially frustrating when I can't play through the story even though I'm miles behind everyone else as far as gearing is concerned. And don't get me started on rep-gating. That can burn in hell. I still haven't played through all of DF's storyline because it's rep-gated. I'd much prefer a simple upgrade system for gear that uses only one kind of token/currency for everything that can be obtained in multiple ways. The current system is too complicated for me to understand well. That includes crafted gear. I used to like crafting things, but in their attempt to make crafted gear relevant to game play they also made it very complicated to learn how to do, and expensive as well. I gave up halfway through DF.
I haven't played any M+ since halfway through DF either. I used to really like doing M+ with my friends, but it's gotten way more complicated mechanics-wise and I have less time than I used to to work on learning all that. The current gear and skill needed to succeed at M+ is beyond me at the moment. So as a 'sub-par' player, who still enjoys the game, I'm locked out of that. I'm locked out of raiding too, for different reasons. I've never been one to use group finder to try to join raids or dungeons. Early experiences with intolerant players seems to have permanently soured me on that. I'm so nervous about making other players suffer through my inexperience/ineptitude that I don't even try.
So why do I even try, you ask? Let's go back to that fantasy of riding/flying in the world, being the hero, etc. And why should I be pushed out of the game because I'm no expert? Why should I be sneered at just because I don't play the way I'm 'supposed' to? But I feel as though Blizzard doesn't much care to have me in their world. My guild is wonderful, and patient with me. The rest of the player base, and the devs, are not so much.
Maybe Blizzard would see a lot more growth in their player base if they didn't push their players toward Raids, M+ and other higher skill content quite so fiercely, but remembered that Azeroth is a place of fantasy, and it's ok for players to just enjoy that world.
They really need to make this game f2p. Timegating content in a game with a monthly sub seems predatory
I'm just waiting for 11.3 patch or 11.4, so I can go through the story in 1 month and not be drip fed quests every couple of weeks
I know why it is what it is, but it's just my personal preference to play like this
Preach – lol the "if you get it, its fine" is across all games not just MMOs.
I play since TBC, and i do think MoP was the best expansions despite Pandas, but merely due to its brilliant class design.
Alt it needed for a perfect 10 out of 10 game was a game that had a story like WC3, Class Design as in MoP, and WPvP as in BFA.(Nazjatar + Faction Assaults)
But obviously thats not possible anymore. Those lame devs do not want to create a perfectly fun game, just something else that is equaly bad as the previous expansion.
This is the first expansion i will not play at all and i won't return for damn sure.
Classic is a nice idea, but i do not really plan, to repeat the same old same, just because retail designers are too incompetent to create a fun game, which after SL and DF they have prooven all over.
Chris Metzen might be back, but cannot change all these points i mentioned.
You guys made a terrible mistake by removing the faction conflict along with faction leaders that were all about this conflict.
Yeah, as i read in another comment here, RNG combat and 3rd party addons is cancer, too along with micro CC and other nonsense. The old way to do combat was much better and the class design was also much better.
I quit a month in due to the release cadence.
I agree with most of what you're saying, but the profession system is something people are loving, yes it's a lot to take in, but dumbing down every aspect of the game is silly and you said they want to break away from old MMO ideas, but when they do, you overly criticize things that people actually like. Kinda crazy. Also, didn't you say you were done with a WoW a while ago? Just stay away.
My problem is I’m still trying to figure out how I “unlearned” the leather working I previously knew that I didn’t know I unlearned in the first place so I can keep leveling it up. I don’t have a lot of free time to do a bunch of research so I usually end up only being able to do a little of some things rather than mastering anything and being of more help to myself or others with crafting 😑 😂
This video is one big whine fest. I am a casual player and the content is fine. There are plenty of things to do. Gearing feels like its easy and hard to get. Its really easy to get champion gear but hard to upgrade. Crafted gear feels really irrelevant. Its not even factored in as BiS anymore like in dragonflight.
I'm not enjoying it because it sucks.
It's become a bloated mess of a game
I tried the game after skipping DF but the game felt just like SL. Story is mid at best and the treadmill is so apparent. I will never play another WoW expansion… the game is just not what I want anymore.
I am a mythic raider and as of writing this we are about to start queen ansurek prog.
For me the gearing system with crests feels good as in I still have a sense of progression right now instead of mostly done and dusted, just hoping to get myth track dungeon trinket in one slot then raid log. I can still do few m+ and my alt gearing feels a lot better than it was. I dont just log in to a character then instant log out dreading the path ahead of me.
However I think they could drop valorstones completely, and it would make it feel a lot better. About the other crests, i think we could just reduce the lower levels under champion a bit. We really dont need weathered and carved crests too.
I am fine with m+, it is as its always been. They should just look at the 12+ range as i dont see a reason there to be such a big jump. I dont personally like the new affixes at all, some of them really limits when i can use my dispel or my cc ability which is slightly annoying, benefit is negligible especially gaining mastery as a healer spec doesnt really add anything for me.
I've played like 200 hours doing nothing but M+ since release, I'm 2700 io and my main ilvl is 622. The passive gearing and crest system is disgustingly bad. I can't imagine how bad it is for casual players.
Early access, boring new race, and lame writing. I've seen no reason to come back
Wait, whats going on here? Ive been out of the loop. Preach came back to wow? Wasnt there a big loud step away from this game? lol
I didn't even know this expansion released.
10/11 twinking got me hooked agian
the dungeons are straight trash. Everyone of them has some retarded gimmick to it
