They asked and I’m here to deliver feedback on why their decision to not update character customization in Shadowlands is a bad idea. And how to turn that around.

I think people's main problem is that they said further appearances would be coming during the expac. So for them to turn around and say no, and give silly reasons for it, feels like a slap in the face. It's another nail in the coffin of trust in what the developers say.
Their focus should be on making a new engine for WoW because the current one is outdated(its WC3 engine) and limits a lot of things that modern games have for eg: WoW's engine physics is no where near to that of modern games and a new engine would really help the game to be optimized even better.
All I ask is to give Lightforged the option to have long tails like how normal Dreanei were given.
I'm sure I saw one theory in a YT video from the Q&A theorising that the reason we're not getting more options is possibly because the art team is scretched, because the art team is actually smaller than we think. This combined with Blizzard's seemingly reluctant view of reusing art thingy's ( I can't remember the word), means the art team have to prioritize what they work and sadly character customisation takes a backseat to new raid art, new mounts, new pets, new mob art, new zones, new weapons, new armour….so on and so forth.
Obviously, as you said this could all just be a theory, but given how we've had to wait for heritage armour or how even tier armour for each class has been canned or put on a backburner, it seems a more reasonable theory.
Just my two cents, as you cent users say. 😁

New things added every expansion going forward, to the same level as was done in SL, would be fine with me.
They usually never add customization & UI updates mid-expansion that usually comes in the pre-patch or at the start of a new expansion.
I think the reason behind this is simple: They're MASSIVELY behind in work. They're cutting corners anywhere they can just to keep up, and it shows. No tier sets. Only one covenant set, instead of one per armor type. Reusing the legendaries for the maw raid. The fact that they had NOTHING to show for 9.1, when Shadowlands is already 4 months old. Get ready for the drought.
I unsubscribed because ion lied, I only tuned in to blizzcon online for customizations and he said noppers. 🤡
I just want my Lightforged Draenei Tail length increase… why was this not implemented? WHY?!
6:58 right… beacuse worgen were "winners" (sarcasm),they jsut ahve not enough people, feels almost like a barely funded crew for sake of profits, not spending too much , just the minimum to kepp them runing
I wont subscribe again till they add more customisation, thank you
People could have 100 options for every race, for each sex, and they'd still complain. They gave us a crap ton of customizations with SL. I'm sure there will be more w/the next expansion.
I don't know why they can't interchange things like hairstyles between races. For example, Oxtails could be used on most if not all the races. There are some really cute hairstyles and I'd like to be able to use them across the races.
Meh, how often do you stare at your or other ppls customization?!?! I dont think ive changed mine since LK. LOL!!
Customization options were great for some races, garbage for others. As expected orcs got the most attention. For as much as they boasted "Now your human can LOOK like YOU" the options for humans were overall garbage. A few eye colors, some "ethnic hair" and anime hair styles and colors, nothing more. The scars aren't even an option – they're tied to specific faces, so you'd have to vastly change your character's look just to add a scar. I suppose they added Asian features which are passable depending on how high (or low) you set your graphics and how bad the eyesight of the person seeing the character is.
For something that was heavily touted and marketed as a major new feature, they dropped the ball on it, and now they kicked the ball way down the court with the announcement that they have no plans for further options.
I didnt watch the Q&A… was there anything about the heritage armour? I mean there are a few missing and we havent had any in a very long time.. its kinda weird that "newer" races like goblins and worgen have sets, yet still nothing for the original races like human, orcs, nightelves, trolls and undead. :/
i really want bm and marksman hunters to get some love with their weapons, bows and guns should be able to use weapon illiusons, would make the older weapons look better
My characters are all covered in armor…. so I'm ok with them not worrying about the customization
"Here's a handful. It's great. Now fuck off"
just give me a height slider
Is blizzard really this blind ? They talk about how well the costumization options were received and even themselves liked it alot. Yet they cant seem to grasp to add more….. Like wtf.
because you wear gear… and any custom sht is gone :s
Idk why people care, like if we were to go naked
there was a peaceful protest of chiropractor's from troll town, and org outside of blizz hq who were going to lose their businesses. lol
I( can't say it bothers me, its 2021 WoW is far too freaking behind graphically what it could be, the customization hardly matters, in my opinion, ofcourse.
You know what is the best character 'customization' plan for increased $ and player involvement? Player housing.
Also, let a woman plan the 'make-up' options…geez.
There should also be 'class-related' customization for the toon, i.e., tattoo design only a shaman could use…etc.
Gonna repost a tweet I did.
Blizzard: No more customizations are planned for Shadowlands
My RP and Raid Guild, Twitteroth, Content Creators: Well, I guess Final Fantasy 14 is looking pretty good.
The only reason I can see for this is because they're behind, otherwise it's a really bad bad bad call and decision to make.
Does Blizzard not realize that character customization should be an ongoing thing in MMO's? You cant just add it every few years. There are SO MANY options they can still add. Draenei's have no eye color option, humans have no multi-colored hair options like other races, and Allied Races are SORELY lacking in any new options. I thought Blizzard said they were committed to adding more options to Allied Races??
Also what the heck happened to their plan to give every race their own heritage sets? Did they just abandon that half way through? It's so unfair half the races have them and half don't.
Great vid as always, we enjoy your content. The videos you made several months ago about the guild finder was great to help get that added to the game but I think there should be a application {short and sweet} that should be added if the guild would like to have one. I am finding it hard to find the right fit for my wife and I because there descriptions are not always on par with what they are doing as far as content and /or several other factors. Years ago we had to apply to guilds and that really helped the applicate with what the guild was actually looking for. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work!
Blizzard going back on character customization is a major dissapointment. It's so stupid and contra productive.
I know a way to make a lot of players happy, Bust size slider. And Cod Pieces.
It is fair to say that they have to stop at some point and ship the expansion. More customization is pretty much and endless rabbit hole to fall down. And they added a lot of content for the older races. Again it makes sense to upgrade the older ones first. I feel it's a huge net positive to have the new customization options, and I loved tweaking all my characters. But I'm confused and disappointed that some things didn't make it to the allied races. While going through and making a pass on new skin options might be too much right, why don't races that share the same body type have access to all the hair options? Nightborne and Night Elves are nearly the same in terms of their model. It should be a relatively easy fix to make. And I know, it's never as easy as you might think, but time invested compared to player enjoyment seems a pretty good ratio. Especially given how many clamor for it. Most of the allied races are build on existing race models with a few tweaks. But they still use the same overall body structure. The texture and mesh work is already finished, it just needs to be copied over to the allied races.
It really is simple. You have to decide where you put your people.
…or maybe just unlock the 3 unique DK skin tones for all the other classes
No, sorry, but just no.
They added a shit ton of character customization in Shadowlands already. And as I said, both in comments on your beta videos, as well is to you on twitch, it doesn't matter how much customization they add, it will NEVER be enough. The outcry about them not wasting more time on things you can ONLY SEE when standing still, facing your character, only proves my point.
It doesn't matter if they said they weren't going to add customizations, or if they gave a list of ideas they were going to work on, the outcry would have been the exact same and you know it.
If they add some more customization at the beginning of the next expac like they did in this one that's more than enough. Ultimately, while actually playing the game, the only "customization" you see is what you see from the back, meaning the top of your head/helmet, shoulders, and back. So instead of sitting there slobbering over your character in town, go play the fkn game.
Also, flying mount skins is way better for the art team to spend time on than giving a kul tiran male an eye twitch, or nipping the end off a blood elfs ear. Why? Because you can actually see them while playing the game. And pets are not customization options, you may not agree, but for some people pets are a main part of the game, remember pet battles?
Why do I feel like when they say, "when it's really good for the game," what they actually mean is, "when subscriptions go back down?"
while i agree with the premise, they already seem overwhelmed with trying to keep shadowlands itself salvageable. i'd probably keep it an expansion design choice for the time being.
