Can't get enough of this xpac already. I don't know if DF story was objectively worse made or is it just about slow/fast launch… but as a huge dragon-theme fan I enjoyed the hell of DF gameplay (got my first Cutting Edge there and timed my first ever +25 key) but didn't care about story at all. In TWW I already finished all story and every single secondary questchain in every zone and it's just amazing.
Jesus I actually cried on the quest-chain in the first zone. I am sure everyone who did that understands what quest I'm talking about ('Remember me, earthen' ofc). That never happened to me in WoW before. Ysera ressurection in Ardenweald was emotional but man it was a main story of one of the most important dragons in all WoW lore. And that little beardy-stone guy I saw for the first time somehow just crushed me. Even Azj-Kahet is amazing. I was expecting something like Maldraxxus but the zone is actually beautiful and gives Suramar vibes while exploring the city. I mean that's not as beautiful elven-architecture for obvious reasons but the mystery and 'sneaking to find information about their corrupt monarch' vibe is similar for me.
Blizzard please continue launching xpacs in the same slow pace. Maybe too hot of a take but I think it's ok to even not allow flying for such amazing zones at the beginning. Im not talking about returning of lame-achievements that would lock flying for months But for the first 2 weeks or smth I would totally be ok with that. It's almost disappointing there's no reason to use flying ships in Hallowfall.
Also heroic-talents are just top-notch. What could evoker-player like? Freaking airstrikes! Shaman? Insane storm-lightning-tempest shit! DK? RIDERS OF THE APOCALYPSE WTF. Such a simple addition but sooooo cool.
The only minus for me is an absolute lack of challenge during leveling. Make quests 'kill 3 mobs' instead of 12 but I shouldn't kill huge nerubians in 5 sec losing 1% of my hp IMO. At least tier-3 delves if you are undergeared offer a challenge enough to press defensives sometimes. A nice place to visit playing DPS-offspec just if your main is holy-priest for example but you wanna try this void shitshow they created for your other specs.
I don't know for me it's the best xpac launch probably.
Metro, I really enjoy your M+ discussions as a returning player from back in Legion.
Would you consider doing a “Things I wished I knew before starting the m+ grind” like helpful tips and best practices for different roles?
you have update on Kop by chance. i hope he doing good comes back soon
100 my friend!! i love the start! i love your streams!
this is so refreshing to hear. i'm in love with the game and the open world as well.
maybe i'm biased but it's so much better to hear the opinion of somebody who actively plays the game, rather than listening to people like Quin who just tell everybody the game is bad after 3 days of playing just because it isnt classic wow
I like how they did the zones so well that anyone can make a reasonably compelling argument on why any of the four zones are their favorite
When I saw people doing this I just thought they were casuals playing in the mud looking for scraps. But then a swarm of chickens came for me and dropped some wax and a handful of bolts and now I'm all in.
My favorite zone has to be Hallowfall. Going from light to dark and changing elements within the zone makes it so much fun to be in, especially when you get to see the shift.
This has been a hot and cold expac for me. There were some dwarf stories I really liked. The focus on Moira and Magni, two of my favorite lore characters, was really great. Alleria, maybe my favorite lore character of them all, is a little too Tyrande in Shadowlands right now but Xal is making her story more fun, regardless
But that sky crystal zone was such a slog for me. And I can tell that a huge portion of future content will be focused on that story and those people. I hated it.
But if they focus more on the Spider Kingdom with the Menzoberranzan type story, and not as much on the Krumping troll things, that could make the spider zone okay
The Ringing Deeps was a 10/10 for me though. Give us more of that and I will be happy
TWW has the best zones since TBC imo.
i could watch 24 hours of this .. very interesting in a calm way
It has been fantastic so far, I really enjoy it. I hope they don't make the open world content less important as new seasons come, this is exactly what WoW has been missing.
Edit: typo
Yea, Nobody wants to play cata. Like blizzard just dosnt get what we want. They listen to some things and the rest just goes over there head. The dev's dont play the game like a lot of harder core people do. They cant even clear mythic or a M+20+. And yet there the ones making it……… The only reason I keep playing is Chris is backing the story and Ian is still the only dev that I know is/was a hardcore raider.
I made soooooooo much gold doing this before the nerf, Still decent gold too if youre just looking to fly around and collect stuff. Theres a great spot in the last zone wheres theres a TON of them and they respawn fast
I enjoy this expansion exactly as i enjoyed DF most of the WORLD stuff is basically redone DF world events but done a little bit better.
Profession are now a little bit more accesible to a casual gamer so that's plus.
But i already put TWW into one of my favorite expansion.SO i hope they will continue this trend into next one..
but they shouldn't just copy paste they should iterate like they did back in the days when there was WOD and all of a sudden we had LEGION with Mplus that was a time to be alive when it comes to world of warcraft
I mean sure, but time locking any kind of endgame content and giving us 3 weeks of just leveling and clicking on things to squeeze out an extra month of sub is craazy boring.
enchant bag used to have 73 dust – times 150-175 gold/each… but seems like it has been nerfed hard
I remember you doing Suramar farming flowers. So this feel ia back?
You could also just buy gold trough blizzard kek bur zug zug
I’m in a bit of dismay, Ive gone to a 7-on-7-off 12 hour schedule as an ER/ICU nurse, and I’ve only been able to play 2 days out of this whole two week stretch. I luckily got to play two of the three EA days, but ever since then work has cucked me. I haven’t even got into the last zone to start the quests there. Just finished quests in hallowfall. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, the first month of a new expansion is the most hype and most volatile, and I’ve missed the majority of it and it’s got me in a bad mood. I had plans to level 4 chars to 80 to figure out which one I wanted to main and I’ve only got to do one. May have to just settle and stick to that one. Anyway, I’m frustrated, but the game, it’s been overwhelmingly exciting and surprising at how good it’s been so far. No complaints there. I just wish I could actually play.
I don't mind making gold every now and then but I wouldn't' say this content made the world feel alive. The open world still feels really shallow and lacks anything exciting or challenging happening. I just think the casual content in WoW is total crap, the average person wouldn't pay for a game made out of that half-assed content. And having to farm valor pre season is total nonsense.
I've actually dabbled with professions for the first time since I'm done leveling all the characters I care about and since theres still some time before the season starts. It's been fun!
Based video, 100% agree with your thoughts here. My main is 580 but I have loved every single second of figuring out my profession, rep grind and learning a new class along the way
True, open world actives make game feel more mmo some reason for me
Could really do without* those damn air mines in AK. my god that is the most annoying thing.
Anytime they make "old" or outleveled content relevant again, is a win. I hope they do it more with Midnight since they said something about revamping old zones, there is no better feeling than being a new player leveling, and seeing max level players doing something relevant even in old zones. This expansion has so much to do from the start, I'm excited to see what more is coming in future patches.
As someone who has followed the auction house from day 1 some ores drop but the commonly used ores like bismuth are way up
My only actual problem with the game so far is that I haven't really learned much from heroics. Everything falls over easily and nothing seems dangerous. I'm one that learns easier by doing so I guess I'll need mythic to actually learn what the dungeons do.
The ONLY complain I got so far is the AH but everything else I am AMAZED with. I like the time they gave to everyone to enjoy the world they created. Your video and view is exactly what they were trying to achieve with this schedule of releasing content I believe, give enough time to everyone to explore the world they created, maybe try to collect some achivs, maybe farm gold, lvl up alts, even read quests. Yes there is players that will mostly do M+ as the season starts but I believe there is gonna be players as well thinking : okay lets take a small break from M+ and lets finish that achiv I started or finish those quests.
Hi! I 100% agree with you on all points. I’ve been playing since vanilla 2005, and I feel this expansion has been the best in both story and how much fun I’m having compared to every other expansion. The War Within is so far my favourite.
Metro I want a bit of whatever you are smoking xD
All of the music seems to be fully orchestrated which makes a huge difference. Previous expansions had great music but much of it was created with synths and samplers. It seems as though we can gear up fairly well without dungeons and raids which is very helpful for players like me that don’t fully engage with that content.
It is so refreshing to see a video like this! I agree with you on everything, and those who are complaining about just raids or mythic+ are missing so much…. My fav part is the music, they did such an incredible job there!!!
As some one who only logged to do m+ I can say this release has me enjoying WoW in ways I didn’t think I could any longer. The story, the open world, the music, zones, I really hope they keep up the good
I agree Metro! I thoroughly enjoying TWW world and all it has to offer. The music is so immersive too.
Adding in more world bosses, or just tough bosses in general will start to populate the world, IMHO as those bosses in the world could be achievements say to kill 100 unique world bosses over time, or something like that. Each of these world bosses can drop unique items as well. If Blizzard could somehow blend M+ and open world would be ideal!!
imagine ever saying any expansion has superior music to wotlk, and imagine enjoying collecting gobs of wax. absolutely nobody, especially the retail audience, cares about leveling/the open world anymore. These are not things that keep people playing. End game mythic keys/raiding/pvp is what keeps a game alive. What you're describing in this video, things like dirt farming and mining, are things that very swiftly become boring. They don't have legs. To make the claim that you're doing wax globs "for enjoyment, not gold" is laughably dishonest, and reeks of the type of nonsense your boyfriend Alexensual says about vanilla wow. You know what I mean, things like "flying mounts killed the game as they kill exploration", "instance summons ruined the game and they take away from the social aspect of the game", "level boosts ruined the game" etc. I have never once heard a high parsing player use any of these arguments, it is solely the domain of the type of players who do nothing but level to 60 and then demand "new fresh when". They essentially play WoW like it's a single player RPG. Max level is the BEGINNING of the game, not the end.
There has been no "sense of exploration" in this game for 20 years. We know where everything is, we've leveled a million toons. Even during the 2019 reboot of vanilla and then onto tbc and wrath, do you honestly think people "made lifelong friends while chatting to each other as they run together from SW to BRD"? These are completely delusional comments unironically spoken by people like Alexensual and Kargoz. Anyone who played 2019 classic on knows the average instance PUG was near silent, and was optimized to finish as fast as possible. Because that's how people want to play today. We aren't 14 year olds on 56k internet discovering a brand new world.
As someone who genuinely stopped caring about the treadmill and play more and more games for story nowadays, I'm glad that this game reinforces singleplayer RPG components. A lot of people might disagree, but SL was what made people migrate away from WoW and into more casual MMO competitors. And SL was the sweatiest, raid-orientated, late-game focused expansion to date. You can never please the M+ people or WPVP people like Quinn or every classic andy. But War Within felt like a very earnest attempt at returning to WoW's roots but with a larger focus on overall themes. You're constantly going deeper into the ground, every side-quest reinforces that you aren't a "Champion" or "God-hero" or whatever, but your a regular hero or mercenary that's come to these lands. My favorite side-quest has to be helping the Earthen storyteller obtain new stories by experiencing the world outside. It reminded me of Plato's allegory of the cave and it was heartwarming seeing his eyes light up to the potential of having his own stories to tell. Stuff like that's not going to draw the asmongold audience, but I think there are a lot of oldtimers and newcomers that deeply appreciate these sorts of quests.
