World of Warcraft isn’t just a game, it’s a religion, it’s a cult, it’s a lifestyle.

Developers wanting to kill it, or players hoping it will die, are both foolish.

Even if a new, better game was released (and that has likely already happened) it will still not kill the W.o.W. culture.

Final Fantasy 14, Guild Wars 2, Runescape 3, Elder Scrolls Online, all tried, and all are VERY GOOD games, but none of them are good enough to destroy a culture.

  2. I'm honestly surprised you disnt mention the simple fact of "sunk cost" Most WoW players I know only really still play because they have already put in a lot of time and have attachment to thier characters.

  3. your analogy is not correct…. world of warcraft is not football… world of warcraft is RPG and RPG is football….. WoW may have impacted the RPG genre in any massive way it did, but any game that is "better" will automatically be more popular than wow, because they would both be RPGs. anyone closed-mindedly fanning wow regardless is not a fan of RPG (football), but a fan of WoW and that has absolutely nothing to do with gaming, but would (most likely) be purely related to WoW's in depth story and what-not (not professional game level related)…. if people are still comparing how good a game is compared to WoTLK, well that merely means so far no game has been better than that plain and simple.

what makes a game good is not up to the public to decide. A good game is good regardless of what the public thinks of it. that is why we have gaming "experts" to deliver a quality review, unlike "fan-based" reviews. so if WoW is not dead that is merely because it is still quite on-par with anything else being delivered to-date and that should be no surprise as WoW is a VERY good game. expectations and delivery may not be AS GOOD as WoTLK, but it is by no means worse than roughly 95% of other playable games flooded by pay-to-win.

when WoW starts to be solely kept afloat by fans of its story rather than the game it
WILL die… it will have no other choice but to die, because no GAME can be kept alive by only FANS…
IT NEEDS PLAYERS! try watching a football game that has no teams…..

and merely to clarify what i mean…..

imagine a brand new jaguar being made in 2023 and it has everything technology has to offer up to 2023….. that jaguar will be absolutely better and more popular than any predecessor of jaguar regardless of what you think like or anything, because any jaguar DRIVER wants an improved version of jaguar…. no amount of tinkering with an old version will amount to a better vehicle than this new jaguar, no matter how hard you tinker… it will NEVER happen. unless you posess some kind of technology that jaguar doesn't, making your tinkered version NOT JAGUAR.

  4. Seeing the Burning Crusade launch day literally brings tears to my eyes. God. I miss the days waiting in line for those expansions. That shit would hold all of my thoughts for weeks. Now we can't go a few hours without real life or bills fucking shit up.

  5. What someone needs to do is find a franchise that's popular like the ones he mentioned at the end, and then make a game as good as wow classic at least, because the quality of the games of massive franchises has been generally trash or very niche. Final fantasy is niche but the kther games he mentioned just suck. There needs to be a game that takes the franchise and then makes an amazing game and it'll pop off, (but probably still not kill wow).

  6. At around 8:40 um… can you really put Warhammer in there? ^^' I don't know how to feel about this myself and WoW is the only game so far that has managed to flutter my heart but ( and I have hard feelings towards Retail… I grew up with Wrath while when I first played Vanilla I was instantly sold for it- – – I wonder why…) there is a rumour that Blizzard stole the idea from Warhammer 🙁 I don't know how much truth there is to that and I'd like to hear your opinion about this topic or if this has been discussed before I'd like to know. Thank you for letting me rant a bit >.<

  7. It would be interesting to see a video on WoW nowadays. As a player who came back to it for Dragonflight, it's really felt like it's risen from its grave. Or more accurately, a long aching rest. It went from being a bit of a shamble during Shadowlands to just… really satisfying to play. The story's improved, the overall design's improved, and I find myself logging in and just doing stuff like flying around because it's become intrinsically satisfying now.
