Ha!
Thanks for the stories. In my experience, the best wow stories are always vanilla wow stories… Maybe because the game was so new and everybody was still figuring it out and of course the comunity was much nicer overall. And so, i'd like to share an example:
I started playing in 2004. My best friend and I had just started our own business and we had improvised a sort of office / lanparty room at his house, where we would spent pretty much all day. So this happened in mid 2005. I don't think we had even reach 60 yet. Irrc my warlock was lvl 58 and my friend hunter was 57.
I remember arriving at his house monday early after i had been out for the whole weekend visiting some family. And the moment i saw him he screamed he needed my help. And i was confused… So we went upstairs and he showed me what had happened… So he was playing alone Saturday in Azshara… and he died… and when he was runing back to his corpse to resurrect, he fell into a hole… So he was STUCK as a ghost and he did not know how to get out… Back then the "go back to the graveyard" button did not exist… and i always joke that the reazon that button exists now is because of people like him LOL… So he spent the weekend trapped and couldn't play the game LOL. We did not had a guild back then, and our other friends who had wow had also been gone for the weekend… So the only way we knew for him to be able to get unstuck, was to find his corpse and resurrect him… but i only had my warlock…
So i went to IronForge and asked in chat for like 30 minutes for help… Looking for someone that had a rez spell and would go with me to Azshara… I finaly met this human paladin lady. I think she was lvl 49 or 50? A tad low for the zone so i had to fight a few mobs that engaged us… But she was nice enough and amused by my request so we went and travel all the way from IF to Azshara. We only had 60% speed mount and she did not had any nearby flypaths, so the trip took a bit of a time, then when we got to the zone we still had to find my friend's corpse and we had to kill several mobs in order to be able to resurrect him… In the end she refused to accept any gold from us for her help, saying how the anecdote was just so much fun and much more worthy and she stoned back to IF. We stood there because my friend was trying some hunter quest and after that my friend refused to play the game when there was noone else playing, for a few weeks. That never happened again.
