  1. i really like this criticism, it's unique from other perspectives. i always try to tell this to others. there's just an inherent shift in how modern gaming prioritizes and enjoys things.

furthermore, i really like your point on how players just inherently tie monetary value to their time more now, than before. i think it's because we're all grown up now and have lots of responsibilities compared to how things were back then.

    great video!!

  2. Idk, I’m pretty hyped about the fresh servers still. I want a tbc era, that’s where I would live if it existed. I kinda feel like classic plus will inevitably become just as shitty as retail so I’d rather the game that I feel with initially not be meddled with.

  3. Season of Discovery IS Classic plus. It's getting into new content this year. I don't see how it's not Classic+.

The new anniversary servers I'm hoping will lead into TBC Era servers, which even just one of would be nice to have. I love TBC.

But if they don't then I'm done for sure, I don't really enjoy the min maxxing necessity of SoD and I don't want to progress past TBC.

  4. i think people fail to realize the classic community is far smaller than the retail community. so of course a business isn't going to work hard to please the minority. A LOT of people truly do enjoy retail more than classic. as for the culture, most players were teens and young adults back in vanilla wow. they had more time to spend playing games. most people playing classic wow now are probably 30+. gone is that free time so the min/max culture begins. if you never cleared raids back in '04 then you wanna do it now

  5. People had been asking for fresh servers for a while at that point, it wasn't purely Blizzard's idea. Also, you mean "successor" not "predecessor." The "nostalgia" argument has been thoroughly refuted over the past 5 years, as people genuinely enjoy the early versions of the game and the communities they create. Could Blizzard create something new that captures the same audience? Possibly. Are they a lazy, out of touch company at this point? Yes. Do I blame Classic for that? No.

  6. Mate, you're completely contradicting yourself near the end.
You either want a true vanilla experience, or you want changes. The whole rant of "why can't they .. why can't they …" Faster XP? No. Faster mounts? No. Faster flight paths? No.
Just no – It's either vanilla, or it's not. Not everything has to be a ADHD-compliant impulse fest. Yes, walking from the southern end of Tanaris back to Steamwheedle Port is going to take you about 10 minutes. That's because it's supposed to be a world – not a themepark of 'experiences'.

The only difference that 20 years has made is culture, the player base itself. Not much can be done with that, unfortunately.

The one and only thing I would ask for is to get rid of the world buffs. It's too invasive, too impactful. People swarming to cities just to get the buff, addons tracking the timers … ugh

  7. To be fair depending on the server economy state and your skill at Dire Maul you can easily make 4-500g+ an hour, That said once again that's like $3 but it's a lot better than 50-100 lol.

  8. There are people out there who don't care about your gear or playstyle. If you're looking for those speed run guilds that have no problems and no tolerance for offspecs or just having a chill raid night then that's on you. Take up a challenge run or something. I'm leveling questless on an anniversary realm. Like Minecraft – it's up to you to make your own fun in classic and the majority of us don't want changes.

  9. You can't say that you want "wow classic" and at the same time say the game is inaccessible and everything requires too much time and that it should be faster. The things that make up all that time "IS" the game. What you cut out if you take away from that is the actual game. I disagree with most of the things you say here part from hunting bots. The game should not be made quicker to level rather the opposite. Slow things down even more as that is what this game is at it's core. If you fast track to 60 you are left with raiding and prepping for raiding and that is about 5% of the game, and while you wait for your raid you play an alt. So what would the point be? If you make it slower instead content can be enjoyed for longer without adding (what I think broke the game) daily quests or other miserable time gates.

  10. Classic Classic was dumb. Classic Plus would be dumb… all it ever is… is retail but with extra steps to claim it is still vanilla.

Hell SoD is getting entirely new content people aren't happy with it. The issue isn't WoW the issue is the player base. They changed, and instead of blaming themselves, they blame the game.

WoW isn't any less fun then it once was. Ultimately… Blizzard should have stopped with the four varients of WoW and continued them further to the point of there only being three versions that would stabilization each other to give the largest portion of their fanbase exactly what they want. You may ask how or what… it is simple.

Retail continues as, Classic becomes the fix it version of WoW until it eventually merges into Retail when it catches up (fix it being dev time put in to updating item graphics to a modern point instead of being the messes they are, content being finished that they didn't have time to originally finish like that raid tier in WoD, and bugs), Era which is just the most update version of a given expansion (So if the missing raid tier is added to WoD… WoD Era would have it), and Seasons which would provide fresh but could happen for any era version (Basically things like MoP Remix, the implied Legion Remix, Discovery, Mastery, etc would happen here) in addition to serving as a testing grounds and place for retro story telling (The new old Xal'atah lore being put into SoD for example).

  13. Try Pantheon Rise of the Fallen, it sort of scratches that fresh itch in an old school mmorpg philosophy. Games not perfect but its made me forget about classic wow. I literally have no desire to go back to classic WoW after trying Pantheon.

  14. Buddy classic fresh exists right now for people who have missed the OG classic release like me, and honestly i have been having a blast playing it
The other complaints can be summurized in one thing go play SoD if you want something new i dont want anything new, classic exists for people who dont like retail and all it stands for

  15. I discovered a big secret this time around – I don't need to play how anyone else does. I can use a piece of gear because it looks better, I can help someone else do quests and get nothing out of it, I can take a "suboptimal" spec into MC and still have a good time and no one really cares.

I highly recommend just playing the game how you want it to be played, because we all know that Blizzard won't fix anything that they don't have to.

  16. i stayed from vanilla to end of shadowlands.
but the continuous drive to the dungeon content and abandonment of the basics of fantasy (the quest and explore) forced me out
questing and dungeons should co-exist to balance a game
if the game just becomes a dungeon generator…..it stops being a real fantasy game in my opinion
    you need the journey
what would lotr been if bilbo just hopped on a flying mount and flew directly to mordor.
to then drop the ring in the mountain and destroy it
not much of a story…….. IT NEEDS THE JOURNEY
BEEN WANTING A RE IMAGINING OF WOW. MAYBE WHERE AZEROTH EXPLODES JUST AS A PORTAL IS FOUND/FIRED UP

AND AS WE STEP THROUGH INTO A NEW UNIVERSE OF WOW 2
USING A MORE MODERN ENGINE AND GRAPHICS

  17. To combat botting, I would personally just make the judgement call to only make gold tradable between your own characters.
That would make trading significant portions of gold tedious. You could still do it for yourself and through item vendor value.
But it would effectively kill selling gold in the traditional sense. The bots would probably do other things, but I reckon it would only be a fraction of the quantity.

  18. I've played WoW pretty much since launch. retail started sucking ass with Cataclysm and just got worse from there. Hardcore has been a fun challenge and SoD has been a lot of fun as it feels like what I wanted out of vanilla way back in the day. I love seeing the Old World areas populate again, so I am enjoying WoW classic and its variants just for that reason.

Now, I absolutely would LOVE to see a 1.0 classic server. Give me a "release day" WoW experience, bugs and all.

  19. bad take.

people were screaming for vanilla fresh, we always had

most of those playing anniversary rn are having a blast

sure they can and should work on a better version of classic, but saying fresh is soulless and no one is enjoying it ots a huge lie

  20. Dont play then. I have played 20 years. Having been through the game from the start, i have zero desire to go back and play classic etc. I like the new fresh content. Classic is for people who are trying to relive days gone by. Too late. You missed Vanilla…get over it.

  21. Dude wake the fuck up : Blizzard of old is DEAD, long gone. All the talent and old school devs are gone. They CANNOT produce anything good. They can't even do Classic Classic right….. megaservers with overflowing layers that the game isn't made for… no RP server, dual spec, etc etc etc. But no surprise from a team led by Aggrend the idiot.
    Current Blizzard is ABSOLUTE trash.

  22. Would be great if they created a actual seasonal game+ system and maybe even utilize AI, where the Game world is randomized, zones are laid out differently and different locations on the map. Mechanics on bosses change /randomized and actually have to be discovered. Where you retain aspects of characters that provide progress even though you are starting at level 1 again. I would also like to the world appear at war, so even if the pop is low your surrounded by a world where factions are attacking each other, towns and cities come under siege by npcs and players and opposing players and npcs defend.

  23. The success of Blizzard has been bought, with the intention to milk it. , there is no room for innovation..and now it's showing more and more . They now even can't compete with private servers.

  24. The original warcraft games ended at wraith king. The rest of they story is just made up after this point. That is why the player base fell off. i Stopped playing after WOTK.

  25. Gaming culture has changed since Classic WoW. With information spreading faster and easier than ever before all anyone wants to do is complete their goals and move on ASAP. The adventure aspect of the game has been lost in favor of efficiency.

The current head of WoW, Ion Hazzikostas, originally ran the guild and theorycrafting fansite "Elitist Jerks." Telling.

  26. Just like Blizzard you are recycling this topic for content. Also I am having fun playing a class I've never played before. And btw SoD is perhaps the experiment you are looking for
