Hi everyone! Getting WoW running on Linux is now a surprisingly simple process. The game runs very well and provides a clean, enjoyable gameplay experience. I am running the game pretty much maxed @ 1440p. Any stuttering in the video is on YouTube’s end. The game runs really smooth.

My Specs :

Motherboard : MSI Gaming Pro X470
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU : ASUS Strix GTX 1080
RAM : 32GB ADATA 3200mhz CL16
Storage : ADATA SX8200 PRO 1TB PCI-e NVME

  1. Great video mate. I'm looking to see how WoW goes running on a Linux distribution (one of Ubuntu's variants). I've had mountain of problems getting it to run on Windows 11, despite my hardware being very good (Core i7 8700, GTX 1080, 16GB DDR4 memory, SSD) and despite intensive games like Elden Ring and CP2077 being stable from opening to closing time.

Anyways, I'm hoping Linux is what I'm looking for. 🙂

  2. Kept both Windows 11 and Manjaro XFCE for WoW. I've been successful for running in Manjaro XFCE. Core i5 9600k, RTX3060, 32GB DDR4, NVME. Basically dual boot atm, but I prefer Linux as an OS. Might go back to Manjaro KDE. Have a few rigs I can toy with. My speakers also don't always pick up in game right away in Windows 11, in game lately, idk if Windows update caused that (not an issue in Manjaro it just works). Honestly have reset 11 a few times since I early adopted the dev version, it motivated me enough to commit to learning Linux better.

  3. For those who want to use Steam/Proton, add non-steam game > WoW install exe > Proton experimental > install … Delete non-steam game WoWInstallFolder … Add WoW.exe as non-steam game using Proton Experimental.

  4. So while searching how to install wow on Linux I run across this amazing video! Straight up got a like, comment, subscribed and hit the bell icon….. So my guy shows in like 3 or 4 mins how to do the thing and then just straight up gets grabbed up by the best game ever and is just gone there in what seems like body and soul. This video wins the internet for real.

  5. I used to play a bit of Retail on Fedora 29 and a few other distros in i3 with straight WINE in late 2018. Yes, you can in fact game on a tiling window manager and it's more convenient than it sounds. I took a break from Linux in the months before Classic and just used Windows 10/11 for almost 5 years and now I've officially installed Fedora 39 on a second nvme drive in my Acer Nitro 5. I just discovered that Curseforge has a native Linux version via appimage so thankfully addon management will be super easy. That was my concern initially, not to mention Windows 10 was what ran the best on my HP 8300 Elite SFF which is ironic considering it was designed for Windows 7 but that's no longer supported including by BattleNet.
