Amazing video!
For me the thematic callbacks in this trailer are the best part. Callbacks to Arthas, to Grom, to Garrosh, to Kil'Jaeden & Archimond, even to Illidan & Xera.
It's a cool way for the WoW team to show their philosophy in action. It doesn't matter if it's void, death, fel, or even the light — there is no safe way to grasp for power.
The great cosmic forces of this universe are not champions of mortals. They use mortals. & I think that's a message which rings true even beyond WoW.
Edit: also worth turning an eye to the criticism of ultra-nationalism… Anserek claims to be a savior of her people, but look at the army. Those aren't her people. They're completely transformed. Unrecognizable. She's destroyed what she claimed to champion.
Xal'atath's robes flickering around behind her remind me of void tendrils.
Personally my favorite take away is how the "passive" the old queen is. Despite her wisdom, even when facing the Faceless and later being tempted by Xal'atath, she is passive. Cautious but passive. Her body language is relaxed, sunken and laid back which plays into the motif of her inaction feeding her daughter's impulsive behavior and tempering that impatience that ultimately brings her to the side of Xal'atath because she can no longer wait for "greatness" and decides to seize it at any cost.
Xal'atath is the spider, the daughter is the prey. Shown in the 1st shot of the video a spider on its web
