After all this decade long foreshadowing we are finally onto who Xal’atath actually is. We have not yet seen her true form but the new alpha information finally paints a pretty clear picture. Despite us learning about very likely the new 5th old god, she isn’t an old god and she is serving the void lord Dimensius – the guy that is coming for us in Midnight. She is very specific tool of the void that they bring for the fine and finishing work.

She very likely already destroyed one planet, the ethereal homeworld in the past that started giving the same radiant song that Azeroth is now giving before it was doomed. We learned she was given a weapon called VOIDSONG in the past for this purpose and that might be what is creating the Radiant Song we are now getting. So speculation a side let us look at the most recent hints that finally paint a pretty clear picture who this villain actually is!

  4. I assumed she'd be a herald of the Void Lords (like the Silver Surfer) or a Void Lord herself.

    Blizzard has spent too much time building Xal'atath up just to throw her away as a raid boss.

    Also, I made this comment before watching all of the video. Great minds think alike! Or something like that.

  6. To work out who Xal'atath is, we simply have to look at the influences Blizzard takes from so greedily with the Void Lords; Lovecraft's Outer Gods.

    Xal'atath is Nyarlathotep.

  8. Honestly the idea that Knifu is the right (or maybe left given characterization) hand of a Void Lord is cool.

    But the subtle implication that this in turn means the Old Gods are essentially part of WoWs vision of Chaos Undivided is… interesting. They are a middle ground among the Void Lords serving not necessarily any Void Lord but Void. There is potential there. Let's see if they play it out fun.

  16. Nyarlathotep in LoveCraft is very similar to Xal’s purpose. They are the herald of the “outer gods”. Blizz been following LoveCraft lore since day 1 so it’s not surprising. Last Titan ends with Azeroth ( Azathoth) awakening. Which in LC lore ends the universe… hmmmm sounds like the reorigination theories many have had..

  18. It just occurred to me. Magni is a big gem now. Is he also going to turn dark when the crystal in Hallowfall turns dark? He could be used as our indication of what is happening to the world-soul.
