  1. On the graphics of WoW – it has an aesthetic and visual language that is instantly recognizable. There are quite a few environments that are very very beautiful. Look at the other, 'more realistic', games that have come and gone in the same time frame. They do not age anywhere near as well because of the cartoony design. It can be janky, but it also runs, playably, on absolute potato machines. So… like it or hate it, it helped cast the net wide and held longer than almost any other game. The instant they ramp graphics up, and the requisite hardware needs, casuals go away and the game joins a 'remember this game?' montage.

  2. how can they not learn anything? "We are listening to feedback….so now we are going to tell you EVERY PART OF THE STORY INCLUDING THE RAID"…can you even imagine FFXIV telling you every step of a Raid before release? not like that matters bc PTR still exists….just so sad.

  3. 6:42 – Notice that even the Senior Level Designer says, "We're walking on water for some reason." Even they have no idea what's going on. In FFXIV the SE developer would have said something like, "The aetherflow in that lake is so intense that it buoys the characters as they walk over it." The Blizzard team is cool with just "for some reason." That's the fundamental difference in their approach to storytelling that makes FFXIV superior.

  4. the game still looks like a ps2 game… inb4 "but muh artstyle", this game could literally keep the same "artstyle" but look like a 2021 game instead of 2009 game at best. even mobile games look better by now. wake up WoW zombies, every other game that releases in current time looks 3000% more crisp even on a fucking nintendo switch with its trash hardware. that feel when genshin impact a free game (non monthly sub btw for the people who are stuck in 2004) has similar art style but looks and plays superior in any way.

  5. It seems like Blizzard might be setting up the story for the possibility for a full reset like from FFXIV 1.0 to 2.0. With all of those zones serving as test beds for creation, maybe players will eventually find a new dimension in a future expansion of a WoW 2 that everyone is forced to flee to when all the other dimensions get shut down due to being failed experiments.

  6. WoW has a very cartoonish feel to it and that's an esthetic they wish to keep. But it's also a limitation of their engine, even though some people don't want to admit that. They can't do a realistic style with that old engine, like they literally cannot.

As for this new zone lol, Nagrand and Netherstorm have floating rocks and islands, and waterfalls that just seem to come out of nowhere. Death Knights can water walk, Shamans can water walk, there are water walking potions, so this is hardly anything unusual. Nothing about that zone looks alien or revolutionary, nothing.

The story doesn't make any sense, it's all over the place. It really honestly seems like they're just making it up as they go. They've entirely butchered their lore to date with this expansion. And not once have they ever, and I do mean ever, said anything about any expansions being some sort of a story arc. So for them to now say this is the culmination of a massive story arc since the beginning of the game is a direct attempt to copy FFXIV Endwalker in feel and it's really pathetic.

  7. Blizzard pulling another Warlord of Draenor, were they also dropped an entire Raidtier to push the next Expansion faster, because they were bleeding subs as well.

  8. "He isnt after power he just wants to go to a place of power to rewrite the rules of the universe" 0.o since when is wanting control of all existence not being "after power" >.< XD

  9. I always laugh when I see people praise the FFXIV story, it isn't shocking but it doesn't really do much for me. I liked Heavensward, but there are too many bland and/or one-dimensional characters and the story is very repetitive from killing primals over and over to killing Ascians over and over. This story can't end soon enough with Endwalker, talk about the two worst villains of all time, Asahi/Ascian and some fat-ass guy we have defeated how many times already?

  10. Also: Blizz already tried to copy FF once by having Dev streams, explaining what is in the pipe and addressing current player topics, but they dropped that very quickly.

  11. When Endwalker drops Xeno is going to quit the game and exclusively react to other streamers playing it. This will make him far too powerful to ignore geopolitically, and China will invade starting World War 4.

  12. The way they present the world is so wrong. They talk too much about things that should be discovered by the player. They spoil what will happen in the story, what the player will learn, who the endboss of their raid will be, what the creatures sound like, what the machine is, what the characters developments will be, etc.
Imagine if Square Enix did a similar presentation for Shadowbringers, where they'll spoil everything about the Crystal Exarch's motivation and identity, how sin eaters come to be, how a Crystal Tower came into existence in the First, what the twist with Elidibus' plan is, what we will find Emet has created, what the story and conclusion of Nier- and Eden raids will be, etc and so on.

  13. WATER IS THE CATALYST OF ANY KIND OF CREATION, YOU CAN WALK ON IT TOO

This kind of writing prob would've wow-ed me if it was 2004 as a kid but sounds super lame in wha kind of writing we get today and
yeah as someone who doesn't play WoW, it rly feels like a FFXIV ARR documentary done terribly, for a patch release.

  14. The thing to keep in mind with the reason why this wow vid is so disappointing is because, sure it's a cool idea, but it will always be super shallow.

Its always been shallow, nothing is ever fleshed out properly.

  15. This is what leaves a sour taste in my mouth. People hating on the game, just because it's the popular thing to do. The people in that chat, and this streamer himself, have absolutely no fucking idea what they are talking about because they have never once played the game even in its glory days. There are plenty of valid reasons to shit on this game, without doing it from an absolutely empty and blind perspective. You are essentially doing to WoW, what WoW players did to FFXIV for the last decade. Corny and childish.

  16. For the last point, I can tell you why I don't like WoW to the point I'm happy its failing. Because their community was toxic af towards basically any other MMO that came along. I can't tell you how many sweaty, try-hard, neckbeard responses I would get when mentioning another MMO. It certainly wasn't all of the players, but it was definitely enough to be annoying as hell. And every time you said something bad about WoW, they would give you the same responses. For ex: "Yeah I'm just not into how WoW looks at all" response -"WoW look is timeless, your game will look old in a few months. Have fun playing a dead game, WoW will be here forever". I like Asmond and objectively he's right, more good games to play is better for the community as a whole. But I'm also enjoying watching the blizzard fire.
