Finally! A real test. Normally people usually have a new character when they do these demos. Thank you for doing a real player test with a lot of AOE because that’s where the big drops happen. Great video!
This is the review I was looking for! I’m ordering my Mac mini today and want to be able to play wow and d3. Thank you! What screen are you playing in?
Obviously you've been told already, but damn man, dozens of 'gaming' videos demonstrated on this machine and NONE of them actually showed CONTENT or a mass of spells on screen. So thank you, genuinely helpful video. Have you seen the thermal mods people are doing, I imagine that'd help with framerate too (look forward to testing myself once I order one)
Thermal throttling will be a problem. Playing at high/ultra will work a little while I think, but since the Air doesn't have a fan, thermal throttling will pull the fps down significantly. Low, preset 4-5 will work out just fine though.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Was hoping to find a video with someone adjusting different settings to show us the results. The first few videos I watched…they showed the setting they were using, but they didn't change them at all.
I dont have money to buy one so this is a nice way of remembering how good was wow back in the days when i was playing in the net cafe. Glad these videos exist
Thanks for posting this. I just bought the New MacBook Air and went with 16gb ram and the eight core version. I am only playing classic so this is exactly what i need
You had target fps=60 checked. Same page as the max foreground fps and max background fps. That will dynamically scale the graphics performance to help hit that frame rate. You should try with that option off for a true test.
Not that I saw so called "shocking performance" … not to mention you flied in Icecrown citadel which is from WoTLK if I'm not wrong … 10+ years old graphics. And all these settings set to low?!? Try to go in Ardenweld and show as some modern graphic – I doubt you will get 30fps on that mac-trash even if you lower your already crappy settings to the bottom. I cant understand these applauses in the comments – with these settings and in that locations you will get same results from some 5-6 years old i3 with 1050Ti(if not better!) and for the 1/10th of the price of that overpraised M1.
Macbook Air M1 may be the best laptop ever produced, I've got a Macbook Air M1 (8GPU/8GB/512GB) and a M1 Max (32GPU/64GB/1TB) but non the less I use the Air way way more because it's simply strong enough to handle most tasks, battery seemingly lasts forever (pretty much getting out 13-14 hours mixed usage, M1 Max is around 8-9 hours which is not bad but as it's a stronger machine you tend to run at max settings most of the time and it certainly affects battery drain).
And really the CPU performance on the Air is amazing, yes the M1 Max (or even the Pro) is stronger but the real world difference in regular use is negligable, the M1 is fast a a greased lightning even in it's lowest configuration, which is kind of laughable- cause it outperforms or equals my desktop 9900K (8C/16T) in pretty much everything. (Graphics performance is of course not at the same level as the 2080RTX I have in that machine, the graphics performance of the M1 Max rivals it though)
The "only" issue is the fanless design cause the cpu/gpu throttles a bit if you push it hard, it still performs great but I reckon you loose around 10% of the performance the air actually would be capable of if it had active cooling.
For everyday use it's an amazing computer, gaming… well the few games that properly use metal runs great even on the 8C GPU. WoW in particular performs amazing.
Thank you for the informative video. I bought the base spec MacBook Air M1 yesterday upon seeing the performance. It is really smooth and surprisingly capable. My first MacBook.
Have you tried this with discord in the background?
And this is the lower tier M chips for the cheaper MacBooks, just imagine what apple can do for the higher tier MacBooks.
Honestly considering getting the M1 mini because of this…. love MAC os and i only play wow so that should work perfectly
Wow impressive framerate with settings at 10 with just shadows and water density at low !!
Without any fan noise 🙂
Does It consume 100GB of SSD memory like they state in requirements?

How is the temperature. Does it get too hot?

Why is my FPS 15-30? I don’t get it. Graphics setting is only 6 with native resolution

Hows the heat? Have you continued to play WOW on the M1 Air?

Means Baseline the 7 Core GPU?

Did you rest at ultra for like 4 to 8 hours, and if you did how did it do?
That is some sick cpu/gpu power

Here's a like just because you're Christian.
Shadowlands works fine, as long an you don’t enter Raids
What gaming mouse did you use to play?
your cursor is so big you are sure its not 640×480 ? 🙂

hello, thank you for the video!
So, an M1 Imac 8 core with 2 fans would do even better i suppose? I'm looking to buy one!
