My recommendations are based off chats with other top mages, results from an APL I modified myself, and time spent on the PTR testing each build to try and do the most damage.

  1. Hey there and thanks for the video! Is there a chance to see a video like this for the warlock from you or one of your guildmates maybe? That would be fantastic! 🙂

  2. Great video! I was doing a little testing and guide reading and stuff and it seems like Vision major might be pretty crazy during pre-patch for Frost as well. I tested it by character copying to the PTR and it was pretty crazy. Any thoughts on this?

  3. we go for a full nyalotha mythic run tomorrow. kinda curious if fire is still the way to go or should i just go straight for frost? i still have tons of mastery gear.

one more question: if you get brainfreeze, do you just finish your frostbolt, then flurry, IL IL? i heard that there was a bug that you should cancel you frostbolt (stopcast makro on flurry), because frostbolt consumed on of your winters chill charges.
EDIT: found your answer some comments below! 🙂 everything fine, thanks

  4. Why mastery in frost ? Why boost icicle ?
This was Gs stats, u dont need more than one flash freeze. 3 PI, 1 FF, 1WO and stats for Last.
Not 100%sure but u have to cap shatter then haste or versa, Not mast ?! (like BOD)

  5. Thanks a ton for this! As a Top 10 raider who hasn't played since Uunat died I needed a quick and to the point guide of what's going on and this was it. Very well spoken and put together, cheers for that.

  6. Hey Preheat, I'm looking at playing minute mage still. During the small combust are you still scotch weaving or adding Phoenix flames in place scotch? Damage meters were not working for me when the patch first launched but with my ignite tracker I can get bigger ignites with scorch weaving versus casting Phoenix flames as the filler. Adding Phoenix flames in that rotation also made keeping three stacks of blaster master feel clunky versus scorch weaving. Thank you!

  7. Your Fire guide on wowhead recomments running From the Ashes instead of Flame On – is there any reason for this? My understanding is that you're going to be spamming Flamestrike with Flame Patch most of the time during packs anyway so I can see some merit in this choice for 2min build… but I wonder whether this also applies to 1min build where you are actually going to be Combusting on most packs? my guess is no and I should just keep playing Bomb in the 1min build, but asking just in case anyway

  8. My question is:Is it worth picking Lonely Winter in PvP?I know its insane ammount of damage but i dont think we will have much uptime to cast or deal damage when melee classes are training us.Also i plan to reroll to orc from troll

  9. Thanks for the video! Super helpful. One thing I noticed that probably doesn't matter much is that frostbolt doesn't interrupt your heating up streak if it doesn't crit.

  10. For the frost build, I'm trying out Worldvein major + Vision minor + ROP. It brings Icy Veins CD down to 2.3 mins, which increases the total uptime by a lot and combos super well with Frigid Grasp. Combined with Worldvein + ROP it gives bonkers burst on ST and cleave.

  11. My friend just started playing wow and is very new. Is there a good starter guide video that isn't 3 hours long? I ran some dungeons with him today and while I'm tanking and my friend is healing he tends to pull a lot of extra mobs. I don't want to discourage him from playing by giving him too much flak, but I want him prepared enough to not make any random tank/heals have a bad day. I hope to start him out with learning a few things here and there to get a grip on the basics a bit more without overwhelming him with all the everything wow. He is playing a fire mage right now.

  12. I'm thinkin about playing a mage again. I played one in bc was my first lvl 70 and was 2nd ranked mage on my server might go back to it for shadowlands. Been playing warlock for so long now. Either druid mage or shaman and my warrior is what I will play
