Teldrassil would've been better if something similar happened on the other side.
But instead in both cases: Sylvanas got the last laugh.
Honestly though: If Blizzard wanted peace, they should've added a third faction.
A third faction that houses any race seeking peace, but still have an Alliance and Horde who fight each other while respecting the neutral faction.
The thing that really bothers me though: Why do we even have Battlegrounds anymore?
For the love of God, please just add an announcer to them, a Goblin and Gnome who update the players on whats going on like it's a big sports event.
I just want some immersion -.-
I'm not convinced that you even NEED to let the loot go to your mail.. shouldn't you still gain the appearance when you vendor/disenchant the items after pre-patch too?
Is the daily/account also for the Scythe drop? I figured you can still get that from the green bags, no?
The game should have always been geared towards the majority of how people play, not high end mythic players. Regarding the factions, I say keep them since they're more or less nation states, but get rid of the stupid language barrier and make the opposite faction capitals someplace you can go, but there's always someone watching you in case you dork something up.
Having not played since SL season 1, this new "defensive" meta seems so odd to me.. Back in my day, healers healed and everyone else took dmg.. There was no needing to time defensives nonsense. What is this, Lost Ark? lmao..
I am happy about the changed so the events, now if they could put this in my druid forms so I can get the one that I been hunting for months….
I like 1 chance per day for these things. And what your missing is the reason they call for defensive pruning is because the game is being developed dmg wise ACCORDING to these many defensives being USED(they said that in previous interviews). Meaning they deal more dmg to players than needed to overpower the defensive creep so healers can play the game. Therefore, if you suck, the game is developed to deal more damage to you because it ACCOUNTS for you using defensives, so if you don't and you're bad you die. It's not a high level take or approach to the defensive or healing thing or the game ''being dictated by high lvl players''. It's literally the damage profile in the game currently. Burst damage. Which kills players instantly from 80% hp even in KSM keys if they don't press defensives or aren't high geared(Maybe KSM is considered high level ? If so then idk maybe the take is wrong). This makes it so ''bad'' players can't progress past a certain lvl because of something artificially in the game to counteract the ability creep. Burst damage isn't fun to play against as a DPS or a Healer. No one wins here. I stopped healing for that reason. It's not fun to heal people dying from 80% because of unavoidable dmg because they didn't anticipate damage coming… idk. + The idea that I have all the tools as a DPS needed to not die removes from the immersion of the MMORPG of having to rely on party members… Just makes it more of a solo game then… imo that's not a good direction…
at this point, i kinda feel like actual war between the factions just feels stale and pointless, especially when we all know we're all gonna be bffs as soon as the next world-ending situation pops up. the threat of conflict, the simmering tensions, work a lot better. also having any sort of conflict/tension more focused on the races themselves rather than the factions would also be better/make more sense. other than supporting their fellow horde, what reason do the tauren have to be in conflict with, say, draenei? similarly, why should horde pandaren take issue with ally pandaren? whereas, tension between worgen and forsaken makes sense because of their history, void elves might feel slighted by blood elves because they were rejected/exiled by their own ppl, etc…
The holiday loot change is a whatever change in my eyes. Blizzard is obsessed with low drop rates on things and that is not something they seem interested in changing. I rarely engage in that type of activity as it seems pointless and is mindlessly boring. I do not get particularly fulfilled on the rare chance the “thing” drops.
I disagree with I interpreted was your take of defensive pruning for WoW’s less skilled player population. Yes it gives them less opportunity to save themselves when they make a mistake. However I think they are also far less likely to push the bottom to help save themselves regardless. If they had less buttons and less defensive options arguably they are more likely to learn when each is needed. As it stand they are either oblivious to needing to use them or unsure in which to use and use none in time. Simplifying the game play absolutely makes it easier for less skilled players and for new players. Button bloat and progressive complexity has made it more difficult for everyone.
I understand their thoughts on the one try and done but if I want to sit for 8 hours and farm something please let me. I have only two days to get all of my playing done per week with very little options to log in at all on other days.
That "not everyone is good at the game" viewpoint is missing the fact that healers are players too, and when the game is balanced around all the dps having a ton of defensives and they don't use them, it puts more pressure into the healer, who now has to heal twice the amount he should because the average dps player can only do his dps rotation. Doing this as a healer might be easy at lower levels but once you start getting close to +10, which is a semi casual level people die unless you can make up for their mistakes, so healing goes from "there is nothing to heal i guess i'll just dps" to "omg why is everyone dying please someone help me".
The balancing at higher level should be coordination and mechanical skill based, not damage, which would eliminate the need of giving so much self sustain to all the classes.
This is World of Warcraft!!!! Operative word…Warcraft!! This IS NOT World of Let's all be Friends! Dissolving of all factions will only be a catalyst to the demise of World of Warcraft! In my humble opinion, there should have never been the joining of Alliance and Horde in the same guild! Blizzard is trying to make everyone happen, which is impossible to do!
It's a world of war… but it doesn't need to be a faction war. Irl even the 100 year war eventually came to an end. Walls are build but it never stopped trade or even expansions. People learn from war how precious peace is: ask the EU! As for alts, i love mine but welcome choosing which part to repeat rather than which alt to use during an expansion and rush the rest through pre-expansion catch-up system. The game is finally valuing casuals and lovers of world content vs only raiders, mythic + and pvpers. It needs to further address old content and leveling, especially after the fun of remix. I welcome all the changes coming to further secure WoW into a playable game… and soon hopefully one approachable by new players because it hasn't been friendly to them. I welcome a raid story mode and npc dungeons, just as I welcome high content not being compulsory for players with less time, skills or that particular inclinations. Toxicity still needs to be addressed and selfishness into breaking the game to suit yourself at the cost of other players. Eg in remix, bosses that despawn if all players aren't present show tanks can wait 30 seconds vs yesterday speed runner killing 2 bosses in a dungeon and leaving the mobs and rest for the 3 other players to die from as he took his tank and healer out. He will level in 2 hours! But at the bitterness of others who weren't high enough of had the class to be able to run fast enough behind. Why group? Let them solo. Or don't gate players behind doors, especially when it excludes them from loot like in SOO, Gates last boss. If Blizzard does not want to police behavior, then add mechanics that limit poor sportsmanship.
Algo squad
Me who just level 7 more alts…. Rip remix toons may as well delete em.
I expect Midnight to be like the Wrathgate, like you said, as we would unite against the Void, although it could/would be interesting if they wanted to, make it so that one could choose to side with the Void or the Light in that coming fight, and then we could/would have a new factional war with 2 sides going at it again.
The factions are core. They don’t have to hinder gameplay but they should still be relative. Replayed MoP Remix and that Horde intro stoked a fire in me that I haven’t had in almost a decade.
I don’t even play Horde anymore!!! If thrall picks back up as THE Warchief I’ll go back.
The faction conflict never resounded with me. I'm of the Warcraft 3 generation who values cooperation.
The faction wars feel bad not because they're pointless but because they're written poorly.
If one faction conquered a few zone and lost others for a whole expansion, some stuff would move around, politics would happen, the faction wars would be the best thing about WoW.
But because nothing is happening and all the stories that we are being given are about the bad guys outside the faction wars, then yeah, the faction wars feel very dumb.
But look at our world, not everyone is getting along; look at other medias, political friction can be incredibly interesting to follow (Game of Thrones as an example).
We're just not getting any of that, it's all "tell" no "show" and there's barely anything to even tell, it's piss-poor.
nobody wants peace in a game called warcraft. conflict is needed horde and alliance cant be allies for good. it stinks
Blizz went ahead and encouraged us to make an alt army. Just to take away the reason for having an alt army (once an account lock outs).
I really am all for only needing to do the holiday event once a day this is a good thing for everyone I believe, no more running it for hours a day for two weeks only to come to the last day and still not get that mount you’ve been trying to get for eighteen or twenty years. I’m also for the drop rate being raised because if you still haven’t gotten something after twenty years it doesn’t look like it will ever drop. I’m also 100% for the horde and alliance beef to rear up again it’s suppose to be that way it’s suppose to be good against evil the horde and alliance are only working together to try and prevent Azeroth from being destroyed and wiping out everyone when the alliance is suppose to win and wipe out all evil from the world including the horde.
Ohh sh*t I totally forgot the mage tower too… More FOMO on my to do list
Making everything a focus on endgame is not fun if you're not hardcore. You say that you do KSM and such things. I don't raid in retail, haven't ever done so and played since vanilla beta. I know I'm biased, but I can't be the only filthy casual.
The whole faction conflict is just dumb, to me. How many times do we team up to face the planet? I get that would fall apart, once. Maybe twice. But after every expansion? That's just silly.
i'm very happy about the change to Holiday drops, that's way better than having to throw 60+ toons at the events until the thing drops.
I agree with your take about the factions seeming redundant, old, and played out. I haven't liked the "forced" hatred against each other until we have to join hands, sing kumbaya, and defeat the main big bad. Perhaps little skirmishes over small areas that don't matter much would be fine as in the pvp battlegrounds, but for regular pve… it just doesn't seem to fit the story anymore.
And you absolutely nailed it when you said, it was pointless because neither side can EVER win. You would alienate the other half of the player base. So, what can we do? I am open for suggestions.
I’m over factions. I want them to end it.
I can't wait for the simple red vs blue, humans vs orcs, story to this game. It'll give me a reason to finally quit. The factions stopped making sense back in MoP and only felt shoe-horned in during BFA. It's time to move on from that nonsense and leave it in pvp where it belongs.
You're joking, right? When does a player who is not good EVER use a defensive? You almost never see dpses in +20s (or I guess +10s) use defensives, let alone those who don't even go that high. Come on, dude…
The holiday loot drop system is a great change.
I have never been keen in the factions fight thing despite having 2xrank14s in vanilla, practically living in BGs for more than half a year.
I have barely PvPed ever since, and even when I was doing that, I would help the other faction outside of BGs.
I always thought it was silly to fight between each other when something put there clearly wanted all of us dead.
After all that has happened since 2004, I think faction war makes no sense. Factions should stay though to not kill that sense of belonging.
There should be new Holiday Event, says so in Road Map.
i got the appearance on an alt today on the first try lol.
To me the faction war should not be totaly shelved before we see alliance being the obvious bad guys more than who started the war over azerite like it was in BFA cus even though alliance started it by killing the miners. It was nothing compared to what the horde did. So again the horde was seen as the obvious bad guy.
I would like to see the mid expancion have a story where the light crazed draenei show from wod who starts smashing in poor peon heads because they arent light focused enough. And alliance just sees temporary old allies who joins them and dosent realize they are bad before they see how Crazed Turalyon have become as he is such a light fanatic.
Because if we think about it. The light seems to be a heavy thing for the Arathi we come across so it is a light army there. Turalyon and his light forged draenei. Velen and his people who are also light focused along with Argent crusade. Now add in Yrel and her light army coming trough the portal. We then have an amazing story which the alliance is the ultimate bad guy. Because they have realy heavily started the war and only the champions and few others understands their mistake and therefor needs help in taking down Yrel and Tyralion. An epic horde war drumming chanse to show their good side and to be the good guys who can stand proud with their heads lifted high
This is sorely needed after Cata. Mop. Wod. Bfa. Where all of them have made horde look bad as they have been the reason for War. (Wod is obviously because we didnt stop Garrosh sooner) that again is on us in my opinion
So excited about the holiday drop changes. Farming on so many alts is so horrible. Already got my fire festival armor and didn't have to do it 30 times in 3 days.
