Cool if you could choose what login screen you want to use
Haven't played wow since bfa. Login screen looks horrible.
Top login screens are classic, bc and wod. I love the portal. I like bc more than the original one.
Lich King is also pretty good. The rest is meh
from legion on i couldnt tell when i first saw them if they were temporary login screens cause they always look so meh.
I loved the login screen of BFA. It's the battlefield outside Lorderaan where both Alliance and Horde fell equally due to the blight that was cast over the city. The vultures circling in the distance to take their pick of the carcasses scattered across the dead battle field. It just showed how terrible the world was that we had to clear up, helping Azeroth.
With the coming login screen for WW, it just shows that the resources aren't going there. Considering most PCs see the login screen for a good 2 seconds before they're at the character selection screen. The only time you would see the log in screen a longer period of time would be if there are queue times to log into the server. Which hasn't happened for me for years. Then again I've preferred playing on smaller clusters. But maybe with the new cross realm features coming, it won't be an issue with server clusters and queue times anymore so they won't need it. I guess we will see how it goes once the patch goes live.

Is anybody else hearing one of the FFXIV main leitmotifs in the new login screen? I can't really tell which one it is but right around the 12:30, I think it's the stormblood dungeon theme? It's so uncanny to me
I didn't even play most of the newer expansions long enough to see the login screen because the battlenet launcher would be logged in already and send me to the character selection screen. It was cool to see each of them here
WOTLK had the best login and is the most nostalgic for me.
I miss the 3D menu screens, both in WoW in WC3 (Reforged got rid of them forever) they had a lot more soul, was part of unique the Warcraft aesthetic, and helped me feel more immersed in the world. Having 2D screens instead just feels like it's a separate piece of art, rather than the entrance to the game itself.
it feels like, after it became normal to open the game and login from the battlenet launcher they kinda did less and less with the login screen. Which is understandable but still sad.
My fav will always be WoD one, for the music alone. That recall to Warcraft 3 is awesome
As you say throughout, the login screen serves to prep us mentally for where we are going in each expansion and what we will be facing. War Within looks like we're going to explore a wooden chest or something.
The War Within logic screen should have been Silithis with the Sword in the background. I like the theory it's going to evolve but X to doubt.

i really liked bfa screen. visually its not got as much going, but its tonally very consistent with the expansions start. That being said, a burning teldrassil might have captured that better than the aftermath of lordaeron, but I like both ideas.
Dragonflight was like a mix of MOP with some Legion overall. It was a big return to form.
Surprisingly, I like TWW screen. Looks Dwarven to me, and nowadays with how we log in you only see it for a second before you're shot to the character screen. Loved the days of seeing if you could log in before Sindragosa screamed at you 😂

Not a great fan of this one. However (might be a wishful thinking) maybe they have some ideas for the whole "trilogy"
i sort of get why blizzard chose to have TWW log in screen be this uneventful. How long do people spend on the log in screen these days? You click launch. you hit the screen the game logs you in and you are send to the Character/Warband screen. In most cases. I don't even See alex fly down before i am logged in. Back in the day you had to write down your log in details wait for it to load and then you get to your characters. The game's just a lot faster now. you just don't sit on it for that long. EXCEPT of course. day 1. when everyone is in the queue.

They are gonna brake open the login screen on launch… obviously… my god are people so devoid of imagination that they cant forsee it?
Maybe because of the story trilogy of expansions we're getting, maybe the evolving loading screen isn't such a far-fetched idea! As much as I would love a changing screen with patches, I think maybe the expansions would add or change up the loading screen as they come
I actually really liked the BFA login screen. Just the whole " remnants of a battlefield" vibes really do it for me. I don't like login screens that have way too much going on.
There's something about the ones that 'invite' you in that I will always love. Vanilla, TBC, MoP, etc – the archways that call out to you to take that first step into Azeroth. Vanilla did that best

My favorite login screen is the one with the exit game button.
The main problem with the new login is that nothing's going on. A lot of the login screens have been showing you "hey, this is what you'll get when you'll log in, so hurry up and do it!"
This feels like the graphic for when you try and log in and the server is down for maintenance (the one with the dwarf dude).
To this day i still think WOTLK is the best Xpac, I mean the whole soundtrack for it and the story alone were the best! I still level my alts in northrend just to listen to the music in those zones!

D: WotLK, Cata. I didn't like the constant dragon stuff, I hated them at the time.
Slightly unrelated but god I hate the UI design for WoW.
I get people probably want to retain that classic feel, but it's so ugly. XD

it is a bit meh, but to be fair with how battle net works and how fast pc/internet speeds are no you basically see it for a second or two, makes sense not to put a shit ton of effort into it.
My favorite is WotLK by far, but my main is a dk so that says something i guess. I loved Cata as well, having this massive dragon sitting on my city and destroying it! BFA is cool as well, reminded me of old warcraft games, and i am a sucker for Lordaeron stuff. SL was okay, seeing ICC like that was nice. I really didn't like MoP, was just to bright and calm, same for DF. The new one, TWW just sucks and is very boring.. All the portal onces (classic, bc, etc) or always cool and nostalgic!
I loved the pandaria login screen, it really captured the feel of the expansion well
