Today I have a video to give you a little bit of background about myself, since I get so many questions on this very topic. Learning languages through video games really works, and you should tell your mom that.

  1. My primary English learning tool was Skyrim, no doubt, next is Minecraft, but omg, I'm so thankful for the day I decided to switch Skyrim's language from Spanish, to English

I already knew the dialogues in Spanish, so didn't need subtitles >:3

  2. I started lesrning a lot of english because I really wanted to play Age of Empires 2, I had the trial version and I remember not even knowing that you need to click the secondary click for actions lol, I could not even past the tutorial, so I got an english-spanish dictionary to try to figure out word by word wtf was going on 😂

  4. I also did! I'm French Canadian and all of my friends were playing on a North American server and there were plenty of other French Canadians on the server. We didn't like playing on the French EU servers because of the time zone difference. There was enough of us to form our own guilds and get by speaking only French to each other but eventually I had to engage with the English-speaking players when my English was almost non-exsitent and I learned fast because of it!

  5. idk if this upload date was intentional, but this day just happens to be the 30th anniversary of the very first public demo release of Warcraft! It's also the 20th anniversary of Hive Workshop, one of the largest English language modding communities for Warcraft 3.

  6. I remember playing Space Quest as a kid and getting kicked out of space academy because the game was in English and I didn't understand the questions.
WoW came out when I was 15 and already had a German localisation. Still I changed it to English for a while because it was 'cool'. It helped a lot and in one of the final English tests in school I got a A+ (1+ in our school system) because I wrote about the factions and classes in WoW.
