Over World of Warcraft’s long history an important part of it has always been 5 player content. Each expansion has brought in a whole host of different dungeons for players to explore and delve into for loot.
But which ones were the best from each expansion, and which were the worst? Well, today I am going to rate my worst dungeon from every single WoW expansion so far, and what made them so bad.

    Thats a REALLY strange oppinion… But okay.
    Classic: Maraudon ALL of them!
    BC: Black Morast
    WotLK: Halls of Stones!
    Cataclysm: Throne of Tides
    Pandaria: Siege of Niuzaotemple
    WoD: Everbloom
    Legion: Violet Hold (cause it was the only dungeon which did NOT have a M+ version)
    BFA: MOTHERLOAD
    Shadowlands: Tirna
    Dragonflight: Ruby Lifepool
    War Within: "Momenteraly not any dungeon, cause they are brand new… so No clue!"

  3. Never had a problem with Opening of the Dark portal in TBC. In fact it was quite fun for me as a warrior tank to control all that trash, coming out of the portals, especially in when I started to do heroics.

  4. Surprised you didnt pick cathedral in legion. That was oculus 2.0. nobody wanted to run it and if you were unlucky to get it as a key, well, your key was bricked.

  5. My picks are bit different:
    Vanilla – Dire Maul West. Long, hard, illogically overtuned considering its pretty insignificant loot value. Way harder than ST (2nd worst)
    TBC – Shattered Halls (HC). In TBC classic was nearly impossible to get a group for it. Zero artwork too – just a corridor, filled with huge mob of red orcs and more red orcs.
    WoTLK – Oculus indeed (agree with the author here).
    Cata – Stonecore. Stupidly overtuned, especially on HC, half things could 1-shot you (at least Throne was one of the easiest).
    Mists – Siege of Niuzao. Too long, exhausting and annoying, everyone hated it.
    WoD – Skyreach. I still shiver remembering these winds that could easily blow you off the cliffs. So annoying.
    Legion – will also pick VH here.
    BFA – Shrine of the Storm. Huge pain in the ass for M and M+. It was just too hard.
    Shadowlands – Plaguefall, especially M+ difficulty level. It's just annoyingly hard on top of looking disgusting and super ugly, hated it for real (and Tirna is actually the easiest).
    Left retail after SL (playing just Classic now), so can't rank any DF or TWW dungeons.

  6. For classic, UBRS solely for the 9 minutes of non skippable 'RP waves' before rend. A big missed opportunity to not add in an abbreviated version of the fight similar to the TOC dungeon in wotlk

  7. Violet Hold was especially bad because each wave took just long enough for Divine Plea to fall off making mana challenging for prot paladins. Definitely made it the most frequent dungeon I'd bail on at the beginning for my paladin.

  8. When I saw Throne of Tides I wasnt sad at all.
    However these are really bad ones:
    – Gnomeregan
    – Old Hillsbrad Foothills
    – Sunken Temple
    – tol dagor
    – Mists of Tirna Scithe
    – Cinderbrew meadery
    – The Nokhud Offensive

  9. I personally think Necrotic or Sanguine were worse dungeons for SL.

    Necrotic had Stichflesh a boss so infamously tuned it’s getting nerfs even to this day.

    And Sanguine is arguably the hardest dungeon in the expansion, with both trash and bosses being brutal, I remember many consider it the hardest dungeon to M+, cause both weeks were bad.

  10. Mists is one of my favorite dungeons ever. The maze is so fun to do once you understand how it works. Sad to see you didn’t take the time to learn it! Also just all the Wacky stuff you can do in the maze to get extra count is fun, and the final area is a blast to pull huge on!

    Edit: also to add, grimrail depot wasn’t that bad on sanguine. It came back in S4 of SL so we actually got to experience it as M+, and it turned out ok, for the most part. It’s wild hearing these picks for dungeons since almost every choice are my favorite or at least not bad in my mind 🤣

  11. Vanilla- Warpwood Quarter Dire Maul. The imp escort is misery.
    BC- Auchindoun Shadow Council. Awful map. Annoying trash. Lame bosses.
    Wrath- My vote is either Occulus or the last ICC dungeon where you run from Arthas. Both dungeons would just hemmorage players.
    Cata- Heroic Deadmines. It didn't love up to the original and was very annoying. But at least it's not broken like Throne of Tides…
    MoP- Siege of Niuzao is sooooooooooooooooooooooo long, just because of the 2nd boss. It's not fun.
    WoD- While I love the design, the most annoying was easily Shadowmoon Burial Grounds. So many traps and death mechanics that make random pugs a pain
    Legion- Arcway. I actually forgot this dungeon existed entirely.
    BFA- temple of Sethrallis is cancer.
    Shadowlands- Mists of Tirna Scythe. You know why.
    Dragonflight- Brackenhide Hollow. Too much trash. Literal swaths of the dungeon with trash mobs but no bosses or other interesting points.
    War- I really want to like Darkflame Cleft. I do. But it's poorly executed and kinda short. Could use an extra boss and a rework of the gathering light mechanic.

  12. Excuse me, I was 1000% certain that the cata one would be deadmines?!??! You get to the top of the ship when you should be almost done but the last couple of fights will take like 10 more minutes???? I never really minded throne of the tides honestly, deadmines is infinitely worse

  13. While I did quit retail World of Warcraft in 2019 because classic came out, I always remember battle for Azeroth as one of the best expansions for dungeons. It was actually the first and only time in retail. Wow that I made an active effort to keep up with heroic dungeon content, and also boss strategies and new releases. I really enjoyed doing those dungeons multiple times for the unique armor sets and cosmetic items

I hate BFD in vanilla so much, it's in my least favorite zone in the entire game, the dungeon itself is confusing to navigate, the bosses are in such corners and random places that are such detours from the route, not to mention I'd rather wipe my ass with 5 grit sandpaper than go into a water zone dungeon, I literally prefer to do the maze and the 6 minibosses section of ST like 100 times in a row over doing BFD once

  15. I always saw Violet Hold as a free daily just because there was no real chance of someone doing something stupid and ruining it. That being said, there was one boss, the Arrakoa that was totally non-threatening to any tank unless it was a "this is my first heroic" type of tank that would get instantly one shot by his only ability. I remember doing it as a daily on a near BIS resto druid and the tank in blues would die so quickly that my HoTs wouldn't even pop in the window that he died.

  16. 2 entries are wrong imo – Old hilsbrad is so much worse than black morass.

    Cata's ToT isn't bad apart from week 1:
    – you never have a problem with the elevator, just big pace it before it goes up for the first time
    – one of the instances where you can actually chain pull trash
    – noone cares about the optional boss loot
    – all the other problems mentioned in the video are doubled the annoyance in Deadmines HC.

    The worst one is DM HC:
    – if you hate ToT lady vashir fight then werewolf spirits fight is the same but worse.
    – If you hate the meme of last boss of ToT, then you hate vanessa is the same but with deterrence spell.
    – Thrash is annoying as you have to be hella careful always(for stupid reasons)
    – and the rest of the bosses are plain boring
    – backtracking – you redo half the dungeon as visions
    – Lore? Vanessa the edgy teen-ish daughter of VanCleef.. Mr. Smite gone, but Cookie was kept?
