What is a raid? Well it is difficult to say, is it an instance that has more then 5 players? Well no because some dungeons like the upper blackrock spire were dungeons, but had more then 5 players… are they instances with a week long cooldown? Well no, because mythic dungeons have a weeklong cooldown, and some raids of the past have had cooldowns of only 3 and a half days… Well what we would call a raid would be a place that has 10+ people, and a lockout of multiple days. So onto the raids!

Flex was great. If I was in charge of an expansion – I would have no raid and no mythic+ season for a month or more after launch – leaving heroic and mythic 0 dungeons to be the end game content for enough time to actually build up a decent set of gear from group content. I would bring back Flex, 10 and 25 fixed for normal and heroic. What is currently mythic 20 man I would have exclusively on tournament realms for the race to world first – using that time to get the tuning dialed in for a release on retail 2 weeks after the race ended. The tournament realms would give players the ability to create a character and obtain gear, enchants, gems, ect freely from vendors. I would probably limit selection (unique – equipped) to a certain number of heroic difficulty and normal difficulty items – increasing that amount every week. Say 2 heroic and 4 normal difficulty items with the rest being filled in by mythic dungeon gear and each week add 1 heroic and 2 normal items. I am on the fence about actually having gear drop in the raid.
OH and I would absolutely bring back hit, expertise, defense and reforging – as well as significantly increasing the amount of gems and enchants used.
Nice Recap. The only issue i have with this video is the Timing for Bosskills. First of all, you talk about the TopTier Guilds. The majoritiy of the the Guilds had waaaay more time invested which is a good thing. Second, all of those TopTier Guilds in WorldFirst Race, had all played those Raids on the Testservers to learn the mechanics so they can asap kill on LiveRealese.
Why does this matter? Because by the sound of your narration its sounds like the content was mostly trivial which again, wasnt the case for the majority of players.
There were also a few guild "meta" glory achievements that allowed guild members to purchasa mounts in the guild vendors.
Also, glory of the tomb raider originally gave out a set of transmog weapons that I think were added to a vendor in bfa.
"fixed" having gear from previous expacs remain strong. disagree
Harbinger, not Harbringer.
I read that vanilla raiding was very difficult.
I remember i was OT in my guild when everybody was just meeting with MoltenCore and Onyxia. This was best game ever made. Unfortunatly now i cant even play WOW from my country. WTF is wrong with the world?
One thing you messed up on the Dragon Soul area. The LFR version you werent able to trade with someone if they were saved, what they did was had everyone pass on all the items, then the saved person would have to rezone the raid and he would be able to loot everything off the boss. I only know due to watching the interview with one of Paragons raiders about this matter like 3 months before seeing this video.
Started playing hardcore in oct 2006 until a month into BfA. Vids like this make me nostalgic. But it is not the same, I know better.
7:00 omg i remember doing this, but we used a special tactic, instead of the normal tactic we just killed the boss with 1 tank and 1 healer and maxed out on DPS to get the +3 achievement.
I really wish you could do a video exactly like this, except for dungeons. I know it would be a lot more intensive since there is obviously more of them but I think it would be a good idea.
This guy really can't pronounce anything lmao
can you do one for dungeons? i'd like to hear the history how they came up with the mythic+ system
I love this channel. I have spent a notable portion of my life. I don't count it as wasted, but it's hard to explain to everyone. It has opened me up to many friends and experiences. No more has to be said.
what is the music during wotlk section?
I havent played retail so i never knew Jaina was a raid boss 😱 Is she dead now? (Lore speaking)
Hiru what is the song you have playing in the background?
Bro. it's not Ni-hill-um. It's NY-uh-lum. like Nihilistic….
ToCG world first was 19 minutes…
they all p2w and bought wow gold thats wow raiding.
Original wrath and legion are probably the two best expansions
Unique mounts are lame rewards IMO. They are essentially a graphical equivalent to achievement points to show off to your friends.
Great history. I missed about 8 years and stopped playing around 2010, reference LIFE. I came back in about 2021. Wish I knew what mounts I still can attain. Missed my dream mount, the dinosaur. If anyone has a resource for a list still obtainable mount, I'd appreciate it.
:):):):):):):D:):D;);D God made all. He even made a son named Jesus that pardoned us of all wrongs. Breathe air.
horde can suk it, jaina is bae
Is it me or have you missed out Malygos in WOTLK?
8:50 wolf 10 man 50 try left Horse= 25 50 try left + nobody dying in whole raid
"As expansions went on, we got more and more expansions." 🤣🤣🤣
14 years and 1 month later…. I've still never had an Onyxia mount drop….
notice how over time the raid clear times got shorter and shorter, and the systems created for ease of access for casuals became more and more casual? Everyone gets their own legendary items instead of earning them, choices of raid difficulty, LFR, level scaling, huge class overhauls, etc. All of this actually was the cause for the decline of this game.
idk why but imagining that a massive boss is in a game just waiting somewhere for nearly half a year before anyone is ready enough to take him down is just fckin cool.. like, i wonder how many players at the time even knew that Rag existed even.
take me back to a time before the data mines and day 1 guides n completed wikis.. ;'<
This game was wonderful until they nerfed raiding at the end of cata and released the garbage expansion pandaria
No way he messed up kahme hame ha
Xavius didn't just go down fast because of M+ gear. He was one of the easiest, if not the easiest mythic end boss ever. It's the only cutting edge I have that wasn't around for a super long time at the end of an expansion or able to be cheesed with the next raid's gear (Mar'gok). It just wasn't actually much harder than Heroic, mechanically.
