Although I really like this video, I don't think it is any good for people who want to know about the Warcraft lore. The video is more about making fun of the story (and it does it well) but if you really want to know bits and pieces of the universe of Warcraft, I suggest you check out Nobbel87 channel. He is like "the teacher" of the Warcraft community. You'll even find a number of videos that tell only the story of a specific character. So if you want to know more about Sylvanas, Jaina or someone else, go check that out.
You have to understand though, they didn't just poop all of this out. Warcraft 1 came out in 1994 and had way WAY less story than say Warcraft 3. There were no Warhammer videogames in the early 90s so Warcraft was honestly just started as discount Warhammer but it evolved obviously and really became it's own thing. So there is A LOT of pileup between the 3 original games not to mention expansion's for 2 and 3 and that is BEFORE WoW.
Then of course there's WoW itself and the MASSIVE collection of Warcraft and WoW novels. Last but not least the amount of rewrites between the first two to the third one and from those into current WoW. Hell we even saw rewrites from earlier WoW expansion's to current day. Also you guys never reacted to the Legion intro before BFA.
Jaina was underrepresented but I think they didn't want to dive deep into the characters but the history itself. There are several video compilations with cutscenes from Battle For Azeroth, from her arrival to Kul Tiras to Return of Hope that sum up her story in a few minutes as they have flashbacks.
Alot of the information in this video is out of date. There was a long running conspiracy to undermine all the cosmic forces orchestrated by the Jailer (the big bad of the Shadowlands expansion. Everyplace you see or hear about the Dredlords aka the Nathrezim, those beings were actually working for the Jailer. Also Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination were made by the Jailer and given to the Dredlords to pass on to Kil'jaden as well of the plague that made the Scourge.
Knowing most of the lore helps in a lot of this making more sense. It should also be mentioned that WoW kind of suffers heavily from now always having to have a "bigger boss" to fight. This being because it turns out that killing your most built up villians in a game about killing bad guys in quick succession opens a pretty big gap. I think the newest cinematic they put out- "Kingsmourne" shows this as they basically have discount Arthas… which is kind of boring lol
Just to note: I do love WoW a lot. It says leagues about a person when I could tell you the entire history (then) of WoW when I was in High School in-between hockey, ballet, art, history, and French because dammit I love a good story. Not so much today. I still think that the old lore is the most interesting, and I mean before the Chronicle. It condensed a lot of this stuff down to make sense while trimming out parts of the story that Blizzard doesn't want us to think about (Me'dan xD) which is a good thing. If I could say anything it's that the books and cinematics are way ahead of the game in terms of interesting.
And now if you feel like it, you can always watch the in game cinematics 😀 Like look up say "bfa cinematics" and you should find compilations for each expansion (vanilla and BC don't have many though)
The WOW movie was every wow-gamers wet dream. What we got tho was a shit show. Fuck live action, all we wanted was a 1H30M + movie, all done in WOW cinematic CGI. Blizzard PLZ! Btw, fuck Activision!
Warcraft started off as a game with a big, yet still coherent story.
Then WoW came out and all sense of plot direction got lost because, every other year, they had to constantly one-up the BBEG from the previous expansion.
That's basically how we went from "we must defend our homeland from the orcs," to "we must defend out world from being eaten by a demon lord. Or an evil god. Or an endless number of other apocalyptic beings!"
I loved the old Warcraft games, and I had a lot of fun in the early days of Wow, but I've long since given up hope of the setting ever making sense again. I kinda lost track of what was going on when a dragon, a mage, and an orc got sent back in time to fight alongside the dark elves and prevent the first demon invasion. It was a fun book, but did little to help the storyline feel more cohesive.
when u got time i Will say u should see: "Warcraft" (the movie!!) its on Netflix RIGHT NOW. I just saw it yesterday and its amazing!!!! – . I have always being a warcraft nerd and I always wanted to see this movie. Its a real movie with real human actors. See it, see it, see it!!!
“The rebellion wins and closes the Well of Eternity.” – hahaha what a way to gloss over the SINGLE most badass moment in all of Warcraft lore.
Allow me to fix that statement…”A single mortal orc goes by himself into the Well of Eternity and absolutely destroys the Burning Legions forces buying Azeroth Mages enough time to close the portal and stop the invasion, the mortal orc defeats so many Burning Legion the Titan Sargeras literally comes himself to deal with the Mortal Orc who is the ONLY KNOWN BEING to ever damage Sargeras who defeated the entire Titan Pantheon by stabbing Sargeras in his leg and creating a wound that the Mages targeted to keep Sargeras at bay. Sargeras then put an end to the Orc who was struck down by the Titan. To exemplify how incredibly heroic and badass this is, that orc is the ONLY non-elven statue in Darnasses the Elven capital city as Malfurion and Tyrande erected a statue of the Orc in his honor. His name was Broxigar Saurfang…and if that name sounds familiar it’s because his younger brother you know VERY well from the cinematics…his name is Varok Saurfang the High Overlord of the Horde, and his Nephew was Dranosh Saurfang who you know was killed by the Lich King…”
But hey let’s shorten that extremely important piece of Lore too – “the rebellion won and closed the well of eternity.”…
So you mentioned earlier that Sylvanas is super powerful, that is because she made a deal with the Jailer(the ""grim reaper guy") to bring him souls in exchange he gave her super powers and will free the world from ..life. So that's why in Battle of Azeroth she is so OP and commit so many massacres.
It is always a pleasure to tell people that this is the simplified version. Telling somebody everything that is of significance to the story, we would be here for days (literally).
I couldn't help but laugh when you made the assessment of Illidan and said he was definitely going to betray them because that is what most of the people who know of him in Azeroth (and probably other places) always refer to him as The Betrayer.
lol prepare to be overwhelmed
There is "25 years of warcraft" if you want

I still really hope you watch Warbringers Azshara. She was fundamental in shaping so many events (directly and indirectly)

if you have time, maybe you can check out harbingers khadgar, broken shore, a found memento: raising a king and lords of war durotan.
