It’s already old new that Arthas appears in 9.2 as the Remnant of the Fallen King. However, until this point the Lich Kign was speculation. This time however we have the actual encounter and we know that the remnant of the fallen king has the same model as the Lich King.
Additionally Arthas also talks to us, Uther and Sylvanas and taunts us, talking about Andorhal, Frostmourne and other events he was a part of. However the voice definitely sounds a bit strange as if it is not just Arthas but possibly even Varian.

Man how good would it have been if we found Anduins mother in Bastion and she regained her memories with Uther's help and then played the role of saving Anduin by effecting him emotionally enough to give him the will to break free and be separated from his armor and blade. Then she could have played the role of pushing Anduin forward and enboldening him again after all his horrific experiences for when we inevitably return to Azeroth.
I wish instead of rectconing the old law they just made it so that the legion stole the jailers gear or something. They've also thoroughly destroyed sylvanas ever since the beginning of BFA. It was so cool when she was questionably good or evil and just wanted to see her race as an actual species and find a way for them to procreate

Little late to the party their man. He's been confirmed for a long while now ever since the Anduin fight was released for testing. You fight Arthas in some phases to help break Anduin free and get to enjoy this banter. Sadly also no, Varian plays no part in it that we see unless he appears in a cutscene that's yet to be released. But given how rushed the story is and how there making it up as they go I'm sure they not think of having Varian show up at all.

You didn't consider the most likely explanation that is Blizzard being cheap, hiring another voice actor for Arthas and calling it a day 🙂

Anduin is not undead. He is just bound to the Jailer's will. That power, just changes his armor and hair color, nothing more.
King's Mourne just has one soul in it, most likely Arthas, and it is the Jailer that is really in control. Arthas is just there to empower the sword, the Jailer is the one contorlling everything. Varian's soul was destroyed by Fel. If he was within that sword, along with Arthas, he would be fighting for Anduin. It is just one soul and the Jailer that is speaking.

Because of the fell, the souls will be destroyed.
But in warcraft, there are so much weapons with souls in it (like xalatath for example).
But i think, that THE JAILER or someone elde are talk to the players.
Because arthas never heard of the "boyking" before. Because he died long before anduin was king. And when the souls are splitted after death, then the soul of lichking arthas dont know, what happens after his death on ICC.
And the word "boyking" was used before from nzoth or the jailer.

Mostly sounds like Anduin's VA with a deathknight effect currently. Josh Keaton is extremely talented as a voice actor after all.
I think this is actual lich king speaking as an entity –
– as they said for wc3 and wotlk beginning – the lich king is not Arthas nor was it Ner'zul – lich king is a new being that have all those characters in the subconscious but acting for it's own goals as it always did. WC3 he was against legion, wanting to be free completely from KJ which is AN ACTUAL CREATOR of it REGARDLESS of us learning it was dreadlords behind it which they worked and still are working for the Jailer. Think about it, LK trying to get himself free of the creator that was influenced by the Jailer to make him? He is just talking through his own experience now, which is why he speaks in 3rd person. Uther did fail Arthas and let him go do whatever he wanted, Sylvanas only failed because she was weak. Those are all facts.
– As for Varian – noticed how his compass stands still then rotates but Anduin compass shows directly forward (north) without moving? I think that compass got a way deeper meaning that we think.. Maybe it shows where the "king" is, like in legion "right here buddy, you're doing the right thing" and now Anduin – pointing towards him, but that's just basic thinking. Could be showing where the danger is or just where Anduin is, making it that on legion cinematic he is with Varian on this one.. Either way, really nice touch, hopefully it won't be trivial and ruined as we go on. Truth be told, SL can still be salvaged and lore restored to make some sense. Looking forward to see what will actually happen.
Okay so they using thw compass to draw a connection with arthas and jainas locket. I dont think that varian is in the shadowlands in any shape or form i tjink his soul got destroyed. And about arthas… since his soul is not split bcs why it would be simce he didnt got killed by frostmourne, i think hes just broken by torments like all the souls in the maw, this can explain the distorted voice, and rhe general bad mood that hes in. I mean hes sitting maw like 10 years now and it only took like 8-9minutes to us to become a hated zone, idea, element of the game. So in conclusion i think yes its arthas who got forged into shalamayn i dont think varian is there at all, cuz if ya think about it guldan died tje same way as varian and neighter of them are in the shadowlands. Im final toughts i think the game and every aspect of the game except tmog and visual progression is beyond redemption, i hope we fail at the end of the raid just like we failed in eternal palace.

I'm not sure why you seem obsessed with trying to put Varian in this sword but it's MOST unlikely. Assuming Varian's soul wasn't destroyed by Fel, He would have gone through the Arbiter for placement LONG before the machinery of death broke. He is not the type of person who would have gone to the Maw and there is NO reason the Jailor would have known he could use Varian's soul against Anduin as he didn't know Anduin was who he needed. Most likely the voice is the Jailor and trying to say it is Varian's is just Wishful thinking. Even Taliesin said that the shard put in the sword was "most defiantly NOT Varian" and he has a better history of being right than most. I would guess that assuming Varian's soul was not destroyed, he ended up in Bastion where his memories were taken and possibly his appearance altered.

My guess would be;
Arthas is present in the armor and Varian is present in Kingsmourne.
Reuniting with or the opportunity to rescue his father may be how Sylvanas convinced Anduin to to accept domination.
Arthas and Varian could both be trapped in a split plane of existence. Similar to the place Uther speaks with Sylvanas.
I could easily see Sylvanas informing Anduin that his father's soul is trapped and the only way to possibly save him would be to allow the domination.
i really hope they dont mess this up. i need anduin to be real F**** up after this and alsi to not have his old model like he needs a new look

Does not sound like Arthas as the Lich King, Lich King sounded much more menacing, and deeper voiced, he sounded more powerful than Zoval…..which he was until Blizzard ruined the whole lore, pulled Zoval out of their ass and reduced Arthas to a simple brainless pawn…..
Varian was consumed by Fel, there is nothing left of his soul, hence the reason we do not see him in Shadowlands, otherwise we would have most likely seen him in Maldraxxus or even Bastion
Spoils alert : it's only Arthas, and we will fight him when we fight with Anduin… And yeah, we fight with the lich king another time… And every time we do dmg to the lich king, Anduin will take dmg too.
I hope it is as baseless as Sylvanas' raid and there is hardly any story so we just wonder and keep whats left of the mystery of this fantasy world.
Clearly Blizzard doesn't know anything about the starwars debacle with episode 1 and "mediclorians", removing so much mystery about the force.
Even after this huge expansion fuck up, these characters STILL have potential. They need to remove these story tellers from the game PERIOD.
