  1. Shadowlands was a good expansion, even though it had some missteps. People are too hyperbolic on the net, either it's the best thing ever or the worst thing ever. 9.1 was meh but 9.0 and 9.2 were superb.

  2. worst part is how they promised that if their systems fail, they will "pull the ripcord" and let people chose whatever they want
when people started complaining about covenants, they said that they lied, that its technically impossible and that there never was a ripcord
thats when i quit the game after playing for 14 years

  3. Mark my fucking words, THIS WILL HAPPEN SOON
Blizzard couldn't even properly playtest their new furry expansion so they keep removing features because of bugs
How long until people get bored of the daily engagement metrics again? How long until people get sick of seeing reskins every expansions instead of new models and skeletons
Hell, this is the first time in 18 years I find the soundtrack to be awful, even SL and BFA had some good songs

  4. Yeah, I also remember how people were saying all those good things about blizzard at the beginning of shadowlands. Hell, if you go back to bellular's videos at that time, they're all like "THEY LISTENED" and such

  5. such a shame I was so happy when shadowlands has released and all the zones and castle nathria was just one of my favourite raids ever. I did end up quitting because there was nothing to do and then when Korthia was released I did not enjoy it :(. Zereth Mortis looked like such a good patch I guess but I just did not want to come back after all the shit that has happened alongside the way with the sexual allegations etc…

  6. And yet we see the same cycle in dragonflight.. people hyping it as the expansion that will fix the game and claiming that this time it's better and it will be done right..

Not falling for this crap again, the game is on my permanent never again shit list

  7. The only fish that are able to fight the current are Salmon because they jump upstream to get to their goal. Whales don’t have that ability because they get washed out by the tide and saltwater sustains them.

  8. That's exactly what's happening with DF already, their viewer count went from 437k on the first day to 67k right now which is 6 days later. I haven't seen interest ween so hard in one of their xpacs since.. last xpac lol. If they don't make that game subscription free, that game is going to die, from just not having enough people giving enough of a shit to play it. Even if the content's good, it won't matter because when you have half your userbase leave every single xpac, you end up with a dead game. Which is a real problem in WoW because you can't solo raid. So it will come to a point of when the lack of interest straight up kills that game.

And btw, all of this is happening without any real competition in the MMORPG space, the only games pulling users from WoW right now are like FF and New World. Can you imagine how bad it's going to get when Riot releases their MMORPG and it's free to play? WoW's userbase is gonna wither up faster than interest in shadowlands.

  9. No one hated Shadow Lands until it dropped for a few weeks, the first people to hate it were the first ones to spend 12+ hours doing nothing but main quests to grind to the end game so tthey can do the same on their alts, and they got smacked in the face for it. Overall the expansion dropped to interested people, and over time showed its horrible flaws and lack of commitment from the team. Asmon was right, people love something the moment it drops and learn to hate it as time goes on, same thing for Shadowlands, don't even try to tell me you weren't enjoying yourself until you hit Zereth and smacked into a fucking wall.

  10. I mean the Dragonflight leveling experience was fine but there really is absolutely nothing to do once you beat the campaign, reminds me of FF14 where after you beat the story the developers want you to log out and play other games. I don't think that is good for WoW.

  11. I think that when an expac comes out people are hit with a confusing mixture of Hypium and Copium that the human brain cant comprehend the meaning of which over time turns into bitterness and resentment as people having committed their time to something that is utter dogshit and manipulated in the short term to believe its fun. I mean ask yourself this, is a movie as good as it was after the first watch vs the 2nd or third? How the fuck do you create a gameplay loop where after the initital excitement that this thing is new after 100 hours of 200 hours of playing the same thing in the same environments how do you keep that thing fun and interesting. I think Vanilla WoW was lightning in a bottle because it was the social aspect of the game combined with bad tech and player ignorance that made the game fun. Really what it comes down to it is that not only is modern wow completely figured out but its a stale old game with limited systems and functionality and shit like AI and virtual reality are needed to breathe it a breath of fresh air, that the same concepts from 2004 or 2007 or 2011 are not going to keep a game alive because fundamentally human developers cannot make a game engaging enough for a long period of time because they might lack the talent and the technology to create game systems that are diverse enough in 2022 to have enough engaging game play. for a whole host of reasons one of which is trying to make wow massively appealing is that it cant take risks and is therefore a bland generic mess that simultaenously is inviting but has a long term appeal of several gallons of milk that is going to spend 3 weeks out in the sun.

Really what im saying is that from about 2004-2010 the wow mmo represented fresh novelty of a genre people didnt fully understand and enjoyed it but once people got used to it, people made online resources and figured out the game it soon became boring no matter what tweaks were put in with each new expanision wow hit a cycle of development where the resources of the company were outstripped by the expecations of its audience to "wow them"

And really I went back to play a BC private server once a few years agi and got the wow bug out of my system. Really the second issue with WoW is that I think it represents a corporate culture issue of trying to control and direct the experience where as Classic WoW was more of a community driven experience where half the value of playing WoW was being part of a social community and I think all the modern "improvements" to the game in order to maximize the short term experience and casualize the game so anyone can get through it like its a themepark ride was a huge mistake as it cuts off the player from the vital experience of actually living in the world. Ultimately what I think modern WoW is banking on is whether it can retain a playerbase for 2 months get them to buy the expac and then have a subscription for 2 months netting blizzard something like $70 per person and then it doesnt care about retaining players because its not worth the development costs to have such amazing content when the life time of an expac is 2 years and the CEOs are calculating that its not worth the development costs to make an expansion sustainable for 2 years so they instead just go through a patch cycle where people might renew for a month or two to see new content. For all intents and purposes wow has become a game for short term tourists and whales and is not the same game as it was maybe 12 years ago or so where you are not going to be able to capture the same magic. I think really if people are going to properly appreciate wow its to first understand what it is in terms of the content cycles and enjoyment factor as I think WoW is no longer like a second life where you can just constantly enjoy it and thats a good thing as you dont want to lose your life to a videogame.
