We put a lot of emphasis on stats when playing modern World of Warcraft in the hopes that any percentage gained will massively launch us in front of the performance race but I am here to tell you that stats are the biggest lie in world of warcraft and I will prove it!

  1. Great video.

Each time the numbers are squished it feels so bad. I would rather have smaller jumps between patches. Let's say we did 200k dps in Dragonflight season 4, than 250k dps in TWW season 1 or maybe 300k dps. Not 1m dps or probably higher. I'm not sure this would work, but they should try to find something else instead of the number squish every few expansions.

I really miss truly special items. I want to be able to get gear as tank so I don't have to backstep tank busters. I don't care about my dps as tank. I want gear to make me feel durable. The same with healer. I want to be able to spec purely into healing spells and have gear that will improve my healing throughput. I don't care if my dps as healer is 0.

  2. Dude what? This isn't news or anything. Gear is just a bunch stats that you want to curate getting the correctly statted pieces of. It's… fully intentional that it's that way. Or would you rather us head back to the days seemingly randomly generated stat gear? Oh boy I sure would love to see some cloth with strength on it or perhaps a cloak with stamina… just stamina. You can make a case for having more interesting chase pieces with bonus effects but the players want to know that when they put on a piece of gear, they get X amount of health, main stat and secondary stats. The problem with "interesting" gear is that you still want it to be replaceable. Regearing with each new patch is a major draw to play the game and keep doing that new content more than just one or two times. The current gearing system facilitates that.

  3. This was part of why I didn’t like some of the ret paladin changes from dragon flight to war with in, there was build choices you could make that would be effected then by your gearing choices.

If you went the no down time Templar strikes build with also hammer of wrath auto crit you didn’t gear the same as someone who choose to go route that made crusader strike into your auto attack. The former went for vers making a tankery play style and while the later wanted haste.

They really need to switch to that style of game play where there’s a reason to choose one stat over another.

  4. It's all part and parcel of what retail WoW has become. An arcadey, homogenous experience where every class shall have every ability type (AoE, Single Target, Mobility, defensives, CC, interrupt etc) and itemization is simplified beyond boring. Love M+, but everything else is a shell of what the game has been.

  5. Back in the day you saved your DKP for really special items. Or at least I did that. There were items that I really wanted. Always keeping an eye on the DKP ranking to see if I would be the warlock with the highest DKP for that item. Cheering like a maniac when it finally dropped. I cannot remember the last time I was really happy with an item.

  6. It's boring indeed, however, I find it very practical for retail version.

I don't want to sim every piece of loot to figure out which is best for me.

I like they still kept trinkets for us to toy with, in addition to some rare drops from raid with a special effect.

For me, boring and simple is much better than a complicated system where each item's has its different stats.

  7. Disregarding the difficulty of it during the seasons, Gearing is suuuuper boring now. having unique chase items is fun and one of the things I think made gearing up in DF so great

  8. Id love itemized loot for procs more but overall this is just a melancholy take. If getting haste crit boots isnt exciting while being ur bis stats, then take a break trust after 12 months the game is great

  9. we need more wake up call videos, good job. Thanks for it!
I hope they change a lot of things in the next expansion, how M+ works, how gearing works, class balances, etc…

  10. Bit of a weird video, started with 1 topic and ended up with another 7 maybe, and I'm not sure how much of a point it had overall. But on the last topic, im not sure if they can really make items important at this point, because a) well aside from weapons or items with special effects… Nobody remembers any of them, you can pick any expansion and this has been the case, unless we are talking about items that looked cool. B) well… The only way to make an item special is to make it have a pretty special source which in the end makes only 1 endgame source valid, and this can't really happen at this point, or it will make people unhappy.

  11. Man as a Fury warrior is miss Geti'ikku, from King's Rest. Best weapon there ever was… No secondaries and awesome proc. And if you got one in the vault, Top warrior dps. Better times. Geti'ikku, cut of Death

  12. Yeah that’s a real good point. I used to choose between a pair of items in a specific slot. Now the only gearing decisions are secondary stats and maybe the trinkets with special effects but nothing more

  13. Honestly, you could think of gear as keys to unlock your characters ultimate potential in any given expansion. If you wanna look at it on a numerical scale, let’s say your maximum potential is 100 which would be let’s say 639 item level in every slot, a fresh level 70 having no prep from the previous expansion would start out at zero or one. A fresh level 80 with around 550 item level would be around 50 at 600. I would say you are around 70 and the rest of the expansion you are chasing that last 30% unless they release a new season in which case all those numbers get slid down the scale each piece of gear bringing up your average item level moves you further up the scale.
