People are getting very edgy about patch 10.2.6. We all expected at least a release date this week, and we didn’t get it, so have Blizzard blown the hype for the pirate patch with their secrecy? And why is Holly Longdale apologising to Tali?

  1. 'lol' has jumped the metaphorical shark as meaning actual laughter. I've seen it used as punctuation, and in statements of every emotional tone possible. It's become meaningless in most cases.

  2. I think the secrecy is fine, but I think a few weeks of teasing (preferably in-game) would be a good way to manage the last leg of the waiting

It could be cool to have a mini Secrets of Azeroth style event before secret patches to get players to work together on puzles and stuff

  3. I think ppl are underestimating the Microsoft and layoff effects on game quality. 10.2.5 sent some pretty bad stuff (tanks wiping in follower dungeons, New archeology). This months trading post fail… Holly's post about serving reminds me of the Jailers quote: even broken things can be made to serve. 10.2.6 is broken but we will be served it non the less.

  4. I've always considered this patch as a surprise shadow drop out of nowhere, possibly even not a reset. If it's what we think it is it doesn't even need to be in game or even on servers for that matters so they could feasibly drop it out of nowhere. I get your criticism of it, and it's a valid one, but at the end of the day who cares about that? It's just a roundabout way to curate the people you follow on social media to stop having boring people spoiling you for no reason.

And we shouldn't forget that developing videogames has nothing to do with communication and marketing to begin with. You can't expect game directors to be good at it, it's not their job at all and shouldn't be. Now there's a valid question of whether Activision and now Microsoft budget restrictions isn't impacting communication and marketing teams leading more and more to bad communication moves.
But generally I'm a bit triggered when players expect game developers to communicate everything perfectly. Think about it for a minute, they have 0 training in communication and for the most part are just tech savvy experts in their fields who many don't even play online videogame at all.
It's a bit like expecting the chefs at a restaurant to be amazing at marketing their cuisine and be inside the restaurant talking to customers all the time, you wouldn't expect it right? Well same goes for game directors and dev teams in general.

  5. This just goes to show how fast something completely innocent and sincere (from both sides lol) can be so blown out of proportion because people react faster than they think (on all sides lol)…

  6. i have a feeling that If this patch isn't fire were all going be even more upset because now, we are waiting all this time for content and then OHhhh it's just a island of rares Yay run around while we cook up a new pile of poo. War Within alpha will be hot on the tails of this next patch AND ONCE THAT HAPPENS WERE NOT GONNA CARE ABOUT THE PATCH. People want the date for multiple reasons a new season mean time sensitive mounts and options leave. And the Race for the oh wait we still have no idea what season for has in store for us is getting Fucking old because You have to put something Shiny for us the chase its been the recipe since the beginning but no Blizzard once again Botched it Making a 2h legendary that again Split the community. Companies don't Penny pinch information like this unless they truly don't have a final plan and are playing by ear. and for all this money they are getting from Multiple Store items its upsetting for Blizzard to Play us like fools. I have a better time sitting back and watching Blizzard burn rather then playing the game. Im sad for what this game has become people arent Happy the commented logs are Filled to Gold farms, paid mythic runs and Paid Arena runs. Players No longer Jump into Mythics with hopes of a Fun experience the players are experiences a 2nd Job as a online desk jockey with so many addons the computer looks like a restaurant menu. And they Fired every person who made this game great.

  7. Agreed, a patch release date would be great. The lack of info about the patch is quite relaxing actually. These days we are inundated with information about everything (especially entertainment related) and it definitely kills the enjoyment in certain cases.

  8. Maybe stop using the "f" word as a filler in every sentence.
Would help considerably. General adivce, not just for Tali and not just for this tweet (which really came out the very wrong way).
Good old Star Wars style "nooooooooooooooooo" would have done perfectly.

  9. The only info I would have liked besides a date is clarification on what they meant by it being for both retail and classic players. Because if it is what most people seem to think, and it exists completely on retail servers with no effect on classic at all beyond classic players not needing to buy DF to access it, then I see that as a misleading choice of advertising. Classic players who only play classic don't give a squat about retail or what happens on retail, and just because they can have access to a retail event, doesn't mean it's for them. If it does have an effect on classic though, with say, unlocking a pet or toy on classic servers, then that is different.
