That interview with Holly was one of the most interesting content-creator-made interviews with Blizzard I've ever seen. Was fascinating to get the "inside" point of view of how everything is cooked.
i always thought Alpha didn't flag random accounts. just the bog standard streamers/YTers/"press"/family and friends. and, most if not all of the blizz workers. never been in any Alpha, myself. just the Beta's since….MoP? only cause of the annual pass lol.
With the legion weapon you could continue earning AP and keep on putting your points in, (albeit a small amount,) for upgrade potential. with the Azerite… you earned it and maxed your heart to the point it didn't matter if you put more into the heart or not. You were essentially capped out.
What does that even mean “now they’re/were data driven”??? What, were they literally just coming up with idiotic gameplay loops and story beats off of purely vibes? Did they have to consult with the elements? Horoscopes?
Blizzard has been designing via spreadsheet for more than a decade. I don't know what you mean by 'data driven' as their actual problem was an over focus ON data and not an actual metric of what is actually entertaining.

Imagine if they had been doing that since 2004, you know…. EXPANSIONS and not "SEASONAL GAME"

Plunderstorm did well, of course it did, they tied desirable rewards to it, take those away and let's see what the numbers are.

So does this mean competent devs, actual QA and CS? No? Well then it'll be the same shit, different colour, same flavour too
