Welcome to my Shadowlands discipline priest raid healing guide! Disc priest seems to be a not very well understood spec and with the addition of spirit shell becomes a fairly easy to pick up raid healer. Don’t forget to like and subscribe so that you’re notified of my new videos! Read more below:

  1. Spirit Shell is so satisfying. I'm consistently topping the charts with my guild in HC and Mythic Nathria on most if not all fights. Just go Holy for Sun King, because yeah… The most significant hurdle I had to overcome while switching from Holy was relying on my colleagues for spot-heal. You still need to do it, but, as yumytv said, only when absolutely nesessary (Mythic Huntsman Altimor comes to mind with rip souls) and it can be tricky to assess when said nesessity rises.

  2. Hey man is there a way to set up bigwigs with timers so you know when to start ramping or what time to use cds etc? This is my first healer I seem to be fine in dungeons but still learning raid also when is a good time to use rapture?

  3. I don't understand why we are using spirit shell to begin with. It doesn't actually increase our healing output, in fact we lose Evangelism in order to get it and we just snipe the other healers. Why are we using it? Surely well placed traditional ramps would be better for the raid, no? None of the guides explain the reasoning.

  4. Thanks mate for the explanation! I am mainly focussing on mythic.. I am currently Kyrian but I doubt to switch to venthyr. What is your thought on covenant for disc priest doing mythic?

  5. one thing to note is that even if a shell is fully absorbed, that doesnt necessarily mean you ramped at the right time. ramping low to medium damage will generally result in 100% conversion on your shields, but only because shields are eaten before heals, so in effect you're just "stealing" HPS from the other healers in situations they could have easily and efficiently covered without the shields as well. this is why i'm not convinced whether ramping on cooldown is good advice for new players. you should definitely try to ramp up for scary high-damage moments specifically, even if that means delaying cooldowns for a while.

  6. Hey man, thanks for your videos, they’re always so informative and helpful. I’ll be entirely honest, Your guides are always so very useful to get to know a class and spec, and move forward from there. This video offers the basic information needed to heal as disc, but doesn’t tell you more than that. Most disc priests, myself included, have reached the point where doing mediocre healing by knowing the rotation only is standard, but improving requires jumping a hurdle we don’t quite know how to overcome. That hurdle is timing. I’ve done the log comparison. I’ve watched all the tips and tricks. I’ve read and read and read about when to time your ramp, but frankly, the hole I find myself in each and every time is managing the mechanics, while keeping an eye on dbm bars and looking for that one ability that comes roughly every minute to ramp up for 20 seconds prior. In theory, is easy. It’s application, however, is where myself and most of the disc players I know who struggle as disc raid healers find ourselves.
I was (and still am) hoping someone * hint hint * would release a weak aura that alarms you every minute “hey punk, ramp now, ability incoming in 25 seconds”. That, alone, would be the turning point for every single disc priest out there.
    Thanks for all your help
Edit: as a random note, I’d like to say I’ve mained disc for pvp for a good 10 years, and have dungeon healed as disc for almost equally as long. I stopped raid healing as disc a while ago, since the introduction of atonement healing, however, because I didn’t like the gameplay (disc has always been so much fun and so interactive, but becoming a bubble/damage puppet seemed very boring, in comparison to dungeon healing as disc, for example). In other words, I’m seasoned in the class and spec, and am also a seasoned healer in raids. I just find myself struggling so very much with timing of ramps and would love a hand as disc is necessary for progression (where holy becomes quasi-obsolete)

  7. I like to pop a Potion of Sacrificial Anima before casting my 2 PW:R.
So I usually skip refreshing my DoT between them, and try to weave it in prior to ramp.
Later on mana will be less of a concern.

  8. 1. The Haste pvp on use trinkets better as crit doesn't work with SS absorbs.
    2. For conduits, it goes exaltation > mindbender attack speed conduit > shining radiance unless ur healing Sludge fist. Look at the conduits chart on Warcraft Priests on discord.

  9. Hey yumytv! I've been watching your content a lot latelty and i saw your video about how are healers performing 3 weeks ago. I am a Disc priest main myself, mainly doing M+ keyes, and don't have a shaman atm, and a rest druid at lvl 50, in case i wanna play druid at some time, but rn im 100% going for Disc so i really appreciate this kind of videos! What do you think of the class right now? Is it too much of a disadvantage not having shaman or druid as healer? Im talking mainly about M+

  10. Hey you might be over valuing haste in your guide don’t forget about the fact that basically any upgrade from 14% to 27% isn’t that useful because of haste break points. (You get 6 casts in SS past 14 and need 27% to get 7)

  11. Playing disc priest myself at an ok-ish level and i was wondering what kind of ramps you are doing to start ramping 25 sec before teh damage hits ? Your first attonements should be falling off and the spirit shell timer is a bit short for that or am i missing something ? I do know that haste % plays a huge role but I m sitting a 23% and ramping 17 18 seconds prior to damage seemed the best to me

  12. Hello Growl, it is nowhere seen but Spiritshell has a cap (Shieldamount). It is a % of your max health. If you use your Desperate Prayer your shields you can apply are 25% bigger with Spirtishell. Use it befor you use your dmg abilitys after you have casted Spiritshell. Ty for your guide, i like your content 🙂
