  1. Glad you guys are enjoying it, but for me Shadowlands singlehandedly kills a lot of the things I love about MMOs and WoW. The zones feel small, disjointed, and fragmented – like the hub / instance world systems in games like Destiny or Monster Hunter: World. I remember when WoW felt like an open world game, with sprawling interconnected zones that felt like a real world instead of a game map. In classic and bc I liked just getting on my mount and riding around and seeing what I’d find. Traversing Shadowlands is nothing short of annoying, going back and forth from Oribos to The Maw to any of the zones and back again 50 times in a row on repeat. There are way, way too many systems and currencies, and IMO it all feels like a convoluted mess. After BFA we were told they were getting away from borrowed power and moving back to something only an MMO can bring – a sense of permanence to your character and progression that carried over expansion to expansion – instead they have doubled down on temporary crap that looks good on the box and is self contained within expansion systems instead of core systems or skills tied to your character. Once Shadowlands is over we will have nothing to show for our time here character progression wise outside of some transmog or achievements. In a lot of ways I dislike this expansion more than BFA (which I hated) and many things feel like a step backward – even little details like having 30 different anima items in my bag I have to go back and deposit into my sanctum. Everybody in my group I am playing with hates this expansion – so it was interesting to hear you guys being so positive for the other side.

  2. I'm also taking my time and soaking in the story, I'm not even 60 and I haven't gotten out of Bastion yet, weird though how I've gotten to lvl 56 only in Bastion, I think the exp is not yet balanced.

  3. Im level 52 and ive quit the game already, cause im really bored. The story isnt compelling, druid feels worse than BFA druid, questing for the most part is kill 12 of this thing or pick 6 of this thing or escort this and its all just boring. I don't care about the Kyrians nor do I like Bastion I had to take a break while playing cause the zone was too bright and it was hurting my eyes looking at it for long periods of time.

So I gave up and im just playing eso cause the levelling and questing is ten times more compelling and the dungeons are fun as hell.

  4. After seeing everyone's reaction to asmons run to 60; i feel bad. The man has been playing the game for damn near 20 years. He should be able to play however he wants. Its his experience. Yes as a content creator that may affect his view count or feedback analytics, but he doesnt deserve to be flamed for just having fun his own way. Rich and asmon i hope you enjoy shadowlands!

  5. What came before dictates hype for next expansion. People were returning for MoP (breaking the decline that had been since cata) and there was so much good content. We don't know the numbers anymore, but I don't think people will return as much given how shit BFA was. Basically, public opinion affects the next launch.

  6. Blizzard's performance in BFA was terrible, I mean it ended with the corruption system. Of course a lot of us don't trust Blizz anymore, and Shadowlands is FULL of systems. The concept of the expac has always been amazing, but its still the same dev team.

  7. Looks like I am in the definite minority that is thoroughly underwhelmed by this expansion so far (level 59, near end of Ardenweald). In terms of first impressions this is behind BFA, Legion and WoD for me.

  8. would be nice if Asmon accidently "leak" some crazy stuff like "Elon" or "ninja" or alex jones and after some noticing quicly eddit the overlay and keep going. Letting all the spergs to freak out and create conspiracy teories

  9. Aren't the first impressions of every expansion launch the same? first day normals/heroics are dead content, next night Mythics are done for the week etc?

At this point are we just doing 2 dailies in the maw, one calling, whatever world quests have usable items and then we're done for the week?

  10. I will say Ardenweald was the only zone that wasn’t so boring I had to stop playing. Maldraxxus is dogshit, I mean I hate that zone and I hate that I have to go through it again on all my alts. Ardenweald was actually pretty fun and felt like I was working towards something

  11. I genuinely believe streamers are now fully propping up the existence of WoW… and that absent their communities no one has interest in the game at all.
Just listening to them talk about the game, is either a lesson in: bi-polarity, Stockholm-syndrome, or the Dunning-Kruger effect… full stop. Every. Single. Day.
WoW fans need some form of psychological interventionalist NOW!!! (we're ~literally~ looking at you Intrepid)

  12. First Impressions…right…this was originally the title for Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Quin walks back a little bit the praise on the Honeymoon phase of the launch. I can even point back to Torghast runs in the Shadowlands Alpha where Rich was really excited for something until he wasn't, and then, he gets really angry about going into the place with certain debuffs. Rich talks about game design and what he doesn't like in modern games quite often and how he has made games on his own yet never releasing them. He's even teased about a game he was working on secretly that he wasn't ready to reveal any details. I have to agree with Asmongold on the chat drama between streamers. That is absolutely unnecessary, I am ashamed of you.

  13. The changes and feel to PvP is the main reason I resubbed after quitting a few weeks into legion. So far I totally agree with Asmon on the pvp. It’s feeling and playing out really good.
