So, WotLK is coming to an end, and Cataclysm Classic will be dropping early summer 2024. Its a bit step to go beyond the original trilogy, but today I wanted to take a step back and ask the question – just how far is this classic journey realistically going to go?
At the end of the day we are getting Cataclysm Classic because enough people wanted to carry on, but where will enough people finally draw the line?

  1. We know how far they will go.. all the way. They changed the name if you look at it. Classic Cata servers are now called properly: Progression servers by Bliz. In the era of "classic versions of MMOs" progression servers or time-locked progression servers are "classic" versions that progress through all of the expansions. So by changing it to a Progression server that signals their design intent. Progression through expansions as all other "classic progression" MMOs do.

  2. Classic Cataclysm is a mistake. They basically asked do you want to keep playing classic, then you have to have Cataclysm. Then they come out with Classic SoD. People need to realize they do not want to replay the Cataclysm and beyond expansions, because now they are playing a worst version of retail. Classic ended in WotLK.

  3. Personally I hope we don’t see MoP, definitely not under the scope of “classic wow”. Although I have great memories of it, it isn’t “classic wow” anymore. If they want to continue going through expansions it would be better to rename the progression as a separate series, different to classic, but still coexisting alongside Retail & Classic. Great vid as always! 👍🏻

  4. I would like to start over fra classic and go though tbc and wrath again. Multi year long journey, and we start over. If we get MoP I could see myself trying it. I missed it back in the days

  5. It's no longer classic starting with cata. The shattering is what makes classic classic.

I would love to see permanent TBC and WLK availability. Even if they just make them "fresh" servers periodically.

  6. I think they should add tbc and wrath and cata content in but keep the level cap at 60 so that you have a plethora of endgame raids to do and can mix and match tier sets to create unique never before seen builds

  7. WoD was basically 1/3 of the expansion they teased at Blizzcon. If they had delivered on the expansion they promised, WoD would've been a top 5 expac. The raids were great, the story was good, questing was good, zones were good, it was just missing a majority of the content expected from a WoW expansion. Some of the cut content was stuff we'd wanted for years: fully fleshed out player housing, a Shattrath raid, Karabor/Bladespire being main cities, three brand new zones (the Ogre Kingdom, Farahlon and the underwater Zangar Sea), and more. WoD would've been amazing if they'd just delivered what they promised.

  8. At this point they should have just done a massive community vote on the launcher and done whichever expansion won. If it was Legion or MoP a lot of people would be like hmm maybe I'll stick around and give that a go. But with Cata, a very large portion of the classic players are done at that point.

  9. They opened Pandora’s box pushing into cata. They should’ve released TBC and Wrath seasonal or fresh rerelease servers and allowed you to progress from Classic Era to wrath at your own discretion.

    Big mistake.

  10. Mists was honestly one of the greatest expansions…. It was SO good and SO FUN. The leveling pace was great, I felt
More in tune with the story as I leveled, and when I entered Pandaria I actually paid attention to the story more. The raids were great. There was a ton of side of content. It was great.

WoD just didn’t have much to do… but the raids were…. Amazing…

  11. They really need to do what OSRS has done. Make it an entirely separate game that progresses differently. I think Cata should absolutely be the last named Classic expansion. Sadly I don’t believe that will happen though.
