  1. Hogger didnt kill the most players. Defias Pillagers and other mobs were far deadlier. Murlocs especially were a menace.

Why Hogger became so memorable was the following:
He was the first elite most players got to see.
You see, when WoW released the majority of the players played humans. They quested through Elwynn, had their fun. And then they took the first bountyhunter-quest and got mercilessly slaughtered by Hogger because elites back in the day got scaled up in difficulty by making them 1 or 2 level higher than the region they were in. Which doesnt mean much today but what made a gigantic difference in vanilla.

That is why he became memorable.
He was, back in the day, one of the first really tough encounters most people couldnt get through, not even in groups sometimes due to the games general novelty.

Today he is a meme but I think the game to this day holds a character statistic in the game that counts how many times you got killed by Hogger.

    And fun fact:
The reason Goldshire became an infamous place on Roleplay-Servers is also explained by the human overpopulation on servers. To that Goldshire was also easily accessible to most races (aside horde and nelves ofc). So you got a whole bunch of hormonal, horny teenagers and young adults playing a game. And on rp servers they want cyberfun.
So whats easier than to make a level 1 human female alt with skimpy mageweave outfit, just to stand and dance for other dudes?😂😂
