  1. What's funny is that players have been begging for housing for 20 damn years after Dark Age of Camelot got it before WoW, and they finally give something similar to player housing and so many people hated it.

When we get actual housing with the Midnight prepatch, what do they expect to get? I guarantee it'll be smaller than garrisons.

  2. The best thing about garrisons:
They were up until the start of Shadowlands literal moneyprinting machines. You could extract thousands of gold per day per character out of the garrisons, theydidnt take that long to set up and basically you had infinite money.

Why do some mounts get sold for millions of gold from vendors? Garrison. The economy is to this day screwed by high inflation money that is still in the game that came from Garrisons.

    Just as quick example:
Missions gave money. Sometimes they gave additional money. If you got the right perk with your champions anddo the high money missions you could get up to 10 to 20k gold from those missions.
Multiply this by 50 characters you could technically do this.. yup, thats alot of gold.
Of course back in the day there was a stricter limit of characters per realm you could make, but even 10 garrison alts that only existed for the missions made you millions of gold per month. Log in daily, do 15 minutes of stuff, be rich.

However since Shadowlands the missions dont grand any money anymore. So the infinite garrison moneyprints arent functional anymore.

  3. Loved garrisons at first, the idea of building my own base on a foreign planet was just really cool. Then watching it get upgraded was awesome.

But near 3/4 of the way through thats all you did. Hop on, run missions, gather stuff, hop off

  4. If you have a trading post you can buy resources. And if you have an alchemy table yoh can make water walking and breathing pots that still work and you have an engeering table you can make goblin gliders that still work.

  5. I built an auctioneer in my garrison back then and had lots of Randoms and guildies party up in a raid just to use it.

That was probably the only social interaction I had after that. WoW changed with the social status after Shadowlands.

  6. I dunno. I loved them – I don't really even care to see you running around anyway BUT I do feel like this needed more incentives to team up in one person's garrison and fight off big invasions. They had this feature but it wasn't big enough. It should've been like world ending threats coming to take over your little base and you and your friends stopping them; everyone could've still gotten equal rewards just make them 5x as good if you did it with 5 people.

The that that really hurts was building up this thing and it'll just sit there, forever, alone and basically abandoned and only ever visited when you think "Oh yeah that was feature" and go check it out for nostalgia and then forget about it for another 5 years, or you have to go through it for travel. Also it wasn't even so much the garrison itself but the PEOPLE there. They could totally bring all the characters involved with my garrison into a new one and still make an emotional impact. Hopefully player housing that is coming has some sort of call back to the things I did in my garrison – time will tell.
