It didn't try to cater to casuals, it did it's own thing and tried to be fun, not tried to be easy and accesible. And by trying to be fun, it became accesible to casuals.
Out of combat palidan rezzing is the secret sauce. We raped Molten Core on easy mode basically with that strat. I figured it out accidently'' I was in charge of raid personel shifts and priorities as the OT. We had a palidan who was just , not smart. But we all liked him and handful of people were his RL buddies. He got the bomb and whiped us repeatedly on those fights. We had noone to sub him so I got him to stand way over by a pillar until well after the pull was coordinated and spread. Then he was to never ever get in combat while running about rezzing. Rezz and Heal lock priority if I remember right. Think we were banishing on Garr. Talk about Zero to hero. He had a nack for staying out of combat and it made most fights trivial.

Remember before classic launched in 2019 and classic Andy's bragged about how long Rag would take to down because of the difficulty of classic… and he was dead in like 3 days? Classic Andy's sure did shift those goalposts fucking fast and far.

I can't agree fully.
I was literally thinking the same thing with a hardmode for cosmetics. It's enough just for cosmetics to get nerds to be nerds.
I could probably take any of my level 50 characters in there that once were level 120 before the 'squish' and take down everything in the Sunken Temple solo no problem. I find that pretty dang funny looking at this video. (my characters can all solo Molten Core very easily which is probably much tougher than this place)

At this point just go to Retail, 10x easier

I was hoping there would have been something cool related to the new nightmare theme/pve event that could have impacted the raid with a unique effect/buff/debuff etc. which would have mitigate some of the obvious difficulties/challenges presented in the raid. Would have been cool to maybe put the boss into a dream state with 50% vulnerability or something like that haha, but yeah no, blizz just fucked up 😂
Raids don’t need to be difficult in SoD, it’s only current content for two to three months. This is why pugging these raids is so difficult and pug raid leaders only take players with gear and experience.
It's for this reason why I didn't bother past phase one

u have to realize SoD is more or less Ptr for something new that blizzard is cooking, this is blizzard testing where the limits are!
I think it's like this: Blizzard want it to be extra hard for those few guilds who really want a challenge, then they can brag about being the few guilds who could do it. However, this was never intended for this phase, blizzard has plans to nerf it soon, after a week or two. It was all planned
Dont get how is this hard? in the pov the guy literally chain spammed chain heal. and this is probably without raid gear. As I've seen gnomer and bdf was like kindergarden of raids. and now u get a raid u dont clear within the first hour its out. They cry about it been to hard.

I think that raids should be difficult enough to where you have to progress slowly through it. Like kharazan took me months before I cleared every boss. And every week we got farther and farther. That's the best balance.
actualy your wrong about the old game being for casual player. Aldo in time … wow classic became more eazy…. MC , BWL and AQ were super hard. Most guilds never completed BWL until it got nerfed like 5 times… same for AQ. When naxx came out more then 60% of the guild never killed the last boss of AQ or the princes. WOW classic vanilla wasn't easy peazy… except for the dungeons but then again the ability of characters were very very basic. Raids back then were stunned so hard that you had to manage mana almost perfectly, have flasks and pots and buffs ,etc… it wasn't to make the raid eazy you needed it to complete it. Unless you were playing with the top 0.1 % of the best players and still.
Only when they nerfed everything did they make vanilla wow into a Uncle Garry type game. Players didn't want to try hard and dumbing down insued. Hence why dungeons had mythic and such …nobody wanted to try hard most of the time. But vanilla wasn't easy… the retail stuff is mostly easy but the fights are more complex in terms of positions, moving and mechanics.. but most of the time you can just burn the boss down. There's always exceptions that can be named ..but imagine not having youtube to tell you what to do ..and trying to figure out the princes in AQ and the lass boss… without deadly boss mod. Thats hard.

I feel like if you can skip Tiers of Gear there is something wrong. I feel like you should have an impact with every Tier of Gear.
