World of Warcraft Shadowlands Allied races! I never believed it could happen, and that we could find ourselves playing as Kyrian, Venthyr, Night Fae or Necrolord allied races, but just recently we had an amazing idea on how to make it happen! Join us for a special Taliesin Talks where we explain EXACTLY how our favorite new allied races will happen.

  1. Okay but they wouldn't really be allied races though… they would just be a covenant perk. It's not like you'd be able to roll a new one from scratch and level them like an alt. So this idea, while interesting, doesn't thrill me.

  2. It kinda doesn't make sense that, after becoming a member of a Shadowlands race, that toy would then be like "Ok cool thanks for the makeover imma fuck off back to Azeroth now BAIIIIIII!" instead of committing to the duties of the covenant you've become a part of.

  3. While I love having Night Fae covenant as a warlock, and I think the doe-eyed faun-people are so cool, I wouldn't want to change my warlock into one. I'm already stepping outside the class fantasy here (even if the covenant and it's abilities are super useful and fun). I would ideally like to be a Necrolord or Venthyr warlock, if I had to choose one to transform that character into. You know what I mean? But I haven't played through their covenant questlines. So what are the options? 😮 …once you unlock on one toon, it goes to them all? That said, my druid could be a faun-girl all day! 😀

  4. One potential alternative that I considered before your race-change option was voiced was to basically expand on the “threads of fate” option and allow you to create a level 10 version of the covenant race, then level them in the SL zones (which I hope would be expanded to several more zones in coming patches) then become the ambassador of the covenant to Azeroth for future expansions. The way I see it, they could structure the story in a way that presents the eternals with the decision to more closely monitor the living universe for future threats to their realm.

  5. And hey, the allied race racial abilities would just be their covenant generic ability (i.e. Soulshape) and then a few very loosely based on some of their class-specific ones (Convoke the spirits becoming a passive that occsionally fires 1 free ability depending on your class or something, for instance)

  6. I really don't think Shadowlands races being too unfamiliar to Azeroth would be a problem. I mean they accepted the literally alien Draenei just fine.

  7. Sure but I want fully customizable wings, down to the color of the feather tips! Oh and make spells castable while holding your staff because there is no way we will take clipping between Benediction and the wings!

  8. I think this could work, but it would also create a very hard choice. I've played my Blood Elf main ever since Burning Crusade, but I desperately would love to be Venthyr. It would really make me think, because, let's face it, I've identified as a blood elf pretty boy for so very long, so changing him to a bitey boy would so hard…but…so right.
