  1. Note that free to play people have the least say in the matter and their fate is in the hands of paying players deciding to take a hit for their community and it might not even work.

  2. I mean, its always been p2w to be fair, yes you can get legend without spending money, but you are going to see more people in legend who spent money than not, and why is thattt, because they have access to more cards and get them faster aswell. There are plenty of cards that are exact replicas of other cards but better and a f2p player on average will take much longer to get those better cards than paying players. Fun game and I enjoy it, gotten to legend alot, but its always been p2w, its just more p2w now lmao.

Edit: Playing devils advocate, it is a card game so its the best way to make money to continue to support the game, but at the same time, cosmetics exist and sell well when priced properly, so does alternative card art. So still not an excuse

  3. Hearthstone has never been a Pay to Win, it's a Pay to Fast, and this gift is simply a way to get a card sooner than others so it's still a Pay to Fast. I dont see the difference with the other pre ordered expansion, if you pay for it you will get a lot more cards and statstically a lot more usefull cards sooner.
The only true form of pay to win in HS is for Battleground, you have to pay to unlock the twonlast slot of heroes you can play, as all heroes are highly unequal, not having these two slots makes you lose statistically more often.

  4. I have always believed that hearthstone is P2W. Yes you can technically get everything for free over time, but that doesnt change the fact you can still pay for more packs, thus more good cards. Also this pre-order kind of p2w is bad for the game imo.

  5. You know I played from beta until darkmoon fair and when you said it l was like “have they not done that before”.

that is really stupid because the card either has to be bad enough that no one cares that they can’t get it or you just destroyed your balance so what is the point. It’s a lose lose.

I don’t mind greedy I hate dumbass decisions that don’t even make good sense from a greed perspective. You could have even handed out gold versions and made the original craftable only like gelbin from beta and avoided 90% of the internet irritation. It’s dumb.

  6. It’s been ptw. I was a ftp player for like 3 years before I got a job myself and could spend money, and the difference was huge. I started back in naxx so I grinded as much as I could to get a meta deck then played that so I could win easier. But now I pay for packs and stuff my wr has drastically changed for the better

  7. This could be totally fine as long as it isn’t playable in ranked until the set comes out officially. I love the idea of supporting devs and getting early access, but that access shouldn’t be able to affect ranked games and should only be for normal quick play type matches.

  8. Their strategy for years has been to extract as much money as possible in each short period of time, not particularly caring about the game's longevity or its playerbase. They'll just as easily continue to "test the waters" and see what they can get away with while avoiding losing too many (paying) players. Next xpac – early access meta-defining legendaries.
