I think if we analyze thinks that currently feels bad.
– Legendaries that are not really legendaries, usually in WoW you make an epic series of history driven quest and you get a legendary. That legendary have an story. I think it should fear more like the cape/ring/artifact quests. In shadowlands is, ok you come to Torghasts with ashes and a recipe, ok take your legendary next.
– We should agree that island expeditions,warfronts, visions were not so fun to play, but was fast. Now we have to do Torghast, that is not fun, and take a lot of time.
– Story and lore, BfA story at least in Horde side was fun, at least the story related to Zandalar. Later the war between Horde and Alliance i couldn't care less, because is the same shit that we are getting in Shadowlands "the morally grey" you know. Also this is getting irratating to move core lore to books, and that have as consecuence that story have a lot of gaps. Remember the prepatch? And the start of Shadowlands asking yourself, why are Jaina, Thrall and Baine in the Maw?
– Now the system, people are tired of the system. I am level 60 give me all the toolbox of abilities to do things. But Blizzard is, no, no you have to do things to unlock all your toolbox of abilities to do the fun things. You have changed your mind and want to change to other set of toolbox go repeat the same thing to unlock your toolbox so you will be competitive doing fun things.
– As of someone commented, the game is currently focused for "hardcore" players that only do raid and M+. And i have tried to discuss with these type of players, and there is no point. Because for them, the game is fine, and if you disagree you are a casual, and should unsubscribe and stop playing. These are the players that seems devs are listening, i wonder why anyway.
So to this point, i think there will be patch 9.2 and next expansion, i don't think that Shadowlands can undone all have gone wrong until 9.1 in 9.2.
bfa had more cinematics ( not the ingame engine ones ) and more story than the current state of wow
BFA was superior to Systemlands. It was actually replayable and even enjoyable.
SL is just a one trick pony that can't even compare to any of the previous expansions.
I really want every wow player who complains about how WoW is soooo systematized to please define what they mean by systems and also what they actually want in return. They also have a problem with the game pushing you towards upping your player power and going through content like 1.2.3 instead of going through whatever part you want whenever you want. When I think about it I just end up thinking they hate the way WoW has been since its inception. Which, fair enough, but can they please just say that then?

BFA is just Legion 2.0, so Shadowlands is just Legion 3.0. Same exact expansion formula. All the same problems. People thought Legion was great, but it's the same, it just took a while for people to realize it.
every time the newer expansions come out they have these "systems" . Take the core of warcraft, improve upon it- instead of out with the old in with the new thing every time something doesn't work with the player base. Find out what we like implement it slowly and stop deleting any in-game progress every 6 months and end the retcons!
I've been saying it's BFA 2.0 for months. I haven't even logged into 9.1 yet, just been dabbling in TBCC until today… when I finally caved and installed the free trail of FFXIV. Having an absolute blast, just hit lvl 15 and considering taking the plunge for the full game.
Although I am playing ffxiv right now, it would be very sad if WOW ends. I hate Blizzard's arrogant. If they do care about players, at least the player base would not be filled with this much of hatred.

Its funny that blizz is invalidating everything they do every 2 years (with every addon) or sometimes every patch, and on the other hand they are hardpressed on the idea that everything they do has to matter to every player. everything needs to be worked into the main loop, until they throw it out the window…
and then u have things like the crimson court, that is completly abbandoned, because it doesnt matter for the grind…
In short yes, yes it is lol. It has the same sort of over all feel to it.

I have no issues understanding the systems in place right now and they all make perfect sense to be honest. Are they all necessary? Perhaps not but that does not mean they are all bad. It's not as bad as people keep telling themselves it is. It sounds like criticism from people who havent really read into the systems. "But Roald, I dont want to". Yeah, so that's a you-problem, not a game problem.

WoW just feels like a checklist system at the moment. Log in, do this list of activities and then log out. It doesn't feel like rewards exist outside of that very curated and streamlined conveyor belt. It's just very mechanical and feels like you are interacting with a machine built system instead of a handcrafted experience with emergent player moments.
they need to understand not everything can be fixed with mathematical formulas and graphs, they litteraly think the players are unthinking cogs in a machine

You hit the nail on the head at the end there. The ego of Ion is astounding. Preach called it when he seen it that the covenants would be awful. Would force players hands be dreadful to balance anddddd he still went with it lol. I honestly feel with blizzard they’re so stuck up anymore and have their head up their own you know what to care. They view the player base as some sort of cult of negativity. Like an enemy. Instead of looking in the mirror and admitting fault and losing the ego they just double down. It’s unreal. WoW will NEVER be good again with Ion at the helm. He has to go.

Let the player make the story. Since MoP the developers have been forcing a story into players. Nope, let the players make their own stories. Just place the world for them, like in vanilla or TBC.

The point is: Starting Cataclysm Blizzard stopped listening to the people. The first milions sub left with Cataclym, those were the ones who didnt see the point in complaining for a few more years and unsubbed. In Pandaria the next milions left, everyone has a different tollerance to pain. In WoD we had only 5.6milion subs left… so… the moment your sub runs out you CANT post on the forums anymore. That means Blizzard cant hear those people at all even if they wanted. Then we had Legion, BFA and now Shadowlands (i would be surprised if WoW has 2milion subs left in NA/EU, remember guys, wow had around 2milion subs when Classic WoW went live and sub count sky rocketed by 213% and had around 6.5milion subs, so yeah… retail had roughly 2mil subs left at that point) and now Blizzard is at a point where 95% of people who cared about the game went silent forever and all they have left is an echo chamber and THAT totally explains their attitude towards their player base… the echo chamber says "good job" so everyone on yt, twitch etc. must be wrong ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I liked BFA alot more then this time wasting BS game ! I got flying and stopped playing I also unsub to wow and won't be back until the end of this XPack because I see no reason to sit on my hands doing nothing that make any progression. Just like this new 3 daily quest bs! Just to get rep! WTH they lost their minds
