The reason windwalkers are unhappy is that they have a really bad track record of bugs never getting fixed and problems within the spec never looked at. Storm Earth and Fire is probably the most problematic ability in the game having serious interaction problems in basically every patch. Whirling Dragon Punch that has been their best talant in that row locks you in place for a few seconds which easily kills you when times wrong on a boss. WDP is also considered as movement which makes it impossible to use on fights like Wrathion Mythic. In Visions when you get that "Jump over fire puddle" affix WDP just sends you flying across the room, even that you didn't move. I also think DH, as you say, are a big problem because they are in many ways exactly the same but work better. Fist of fury is an inferior version of Eye beam. WDP is a worse blade dance, paralyze is a worse inprison. Leg sweep is a worse chaos nova. The list goes on =)
I love WW and I will keep on playing it, no doubt. It's pretty much the best melee spec from a gameplay perspective in WoW. But this fun and engaging and rewarding gameplay is what shrouds a lot of problems the spec has.
In BfA, for WW it wasn't only low dps in a raiding environment: it's bad scaling; It's why bring a WW when you can bring a a Brewmaster for the debuff and ring of peace, especially since Brew was and will be such a solid tank. It's the fact that you can bring a Havoc DH that did higher dps and is so easy that my gran crushes the meters with it.
For M+, as it stands right now on beta, melee is getting punished a lot more in shadowlands dungeons than range dps, so there will be a high probability that shadowlands will have a range meta (like raids, great that this was fixed) and when all range specs besides hunters do magic damage, there will be an incentive to bring a Havoc rather than a WW. If you really want the monk debuff or ring of peace, you can just bring a Brewmaster who brings all of the monks defining benifits and doesn't clutter up the high incoming damage zone in melee range. Just to be clear, I don't hate on Demon Hunters, it's just like Nubkeks said: "What was Blizzard thinking? […] Demon Hunter pretty much fills out the same roles".
There is also an endless list of bugs like 'Earth, Wind and Fire' that have not been touched since pandaria.
This spec definetly is not terrible, it's actually pretty incedible. But on the one hand it has not been looked at by Blizz since the Legion reworks and on the other hand has to compete with Havoc, that has been doing things better for 80% of the time in which the two specs sadly had to compete for raid or M+ spots due to their similar roles. Of course there is always the chance that WW does the kind of damage that gets them invited, but the last two expansions taught me that this is rather unlikely.
Overall, of course I can play my WW in M+ with my friends and guildies and I can do this pretty successful and this is honestly the most fun I have in this game. But if you want to pug with a WW or do competetive raiding, abandon all hope, cause it seems like Blizzard again will ignore WW. And I think what drives a lot of long time WW players insane is that there will always be people who brush all these problems aside and say: "But looooook, it's soooo muuuuuch fuuuuuun!!!!1!!" Yes it is.
I wish they'd make the Covenant abilities nerfed/buffed so all their cooldowns at 1 minute. Some abilities make me want them but 3 minutes is kind of annoying.
so Fae for mistweaver is the nobrainer choice, gotcha.
the biggest problem in early bfa (only played early) with mistweaver was mana sustain. has that changed? i struggled so hard it was depressing 🙁
See they still havent fixed the mount in the dungeon dps'n glitch….
Ventyr, as far as I can tell isnt the best for WW in PvP. Kyrian is better. Shorter CD ability. Great pot and soulbind abilities. Plus door of shadows is a waste.
Brew is the only good spec lets be honest here and in a raid group Brew will probably be the only monk really wanted.. MW used to be my main but I'm rerolling for SL due to the lack of improvements to the class. It's not horrible don't get me wrong but why would you take it over any other healer in most situations.

As a WW main, I love my class and I don't see why so many ppl rant about it. It is a ton of fun, which is what a game is all about, plus it is totally viable for all non-hardcore content.

Hey Nubkeks, I really enjoy your content but was a bit skeptical when clicking this, reading the title as a WW main. This isn't a knock on you but this does come across as another Youtuber/Streamer who says 'WW is fun, what's the problem?'.
If you take even 2 minutes to read any of the WW or Monk feedback in general you can see that the class has been plagued with bugs, some bugs have been with us for a long time. It's funny to see Youtubers/Streamers who say stuff like WW Monk is fun but none of them ever main a WW Monk.
WW specifically, we love our spec, we of course love the playstyle hence why we stick with it, and admittedly (with good reason) we get a little salty when we are the only CLASS to not receive a reply for over 4 months into the Beta.
Now there are some inaccurate parts in this video such as ToD hasn't been reworked, it's been reverted. Also, our defenses are used to increase dps, Ion Hazzikostas said that this was "degenerate gameplay". The main point of my post is to express there is a good reason for WWers to feel the way they do. It's like they've been forgotten about.
Blizz blue post stated: "We’re making every effort to improve the reliability of this ability" This does not fill me with confidence: SEF or Storm Earth & Fire. Has been a nuisance for a long time a … very long time. It originally started out as a Brewmaster ability. Come to think of it, I don't think our spec has any "Wind Walking" abilities anymore. Well, most people don't even realize we bring a passive speed boost. To be fair it is forgettable.
There is a bug which we aren't 100% sure how it occurs, but it seems to happen during an influx of haste. What happens is: Even if you have (FoF) Fists of Fury on cd and (RSK) Rising Sun Kick on cd (WDP) Whirling Dragon Punch just doesn't work. If this was any of other game for example Street Fighter and Ryu could not pull off a Shoryuken 100% of the time when you did the input… you would call this ability broken and in that game, you'd call the character broken.
WW & Brew only recently got their ability to either DW or use 2H weapons. They still haven't implemented a passive that Frost DK's received to balance out the use of 2H vs DW. The passive kind of existed already in the form of "Way of the Monk".
There is a lot more to go into. Historically WW has performed poorly or in the middle of the pack. But at this moment in time, I still don't care about what the logs say. I'd just like my spec to fixed, solid, and reliable.
Like I said, I am a fan of your work but had to step up with this one. Keep going strong!
you should reduce the abilities tooltip size and anchor it to a corner of the screen while you are talking about the ability, makes us viewers have to remember less things while watching the video, sometimes it's hard to remember exactly what you are talking about when the last time i read the description was 2-3 minutes ago

Touch of death was one of the really unique abilities that stood out for ww. Now it's just a brain dead ability that can be used with little to no thought. None of these changes sound good. It's more of the same lack of imagination over at activision/blizzard. I appreciate the video, but there's no genuine criticism where it should be. You can polish a turd all you want, but in the end it's still a turd
