You have some pretty strong opinions that I don't agree with ( and some that I do ), but I respect and appreciate your willingness to try something new and change your opinion based on your experience. Seems to be a rare thing especially amongst content creators.
I agree. I think by simply changing up the dungeons a bit to run through and no other big changes is a good addition prior to a fresh new expansion. Granted I am now working on a new Warrior 🙂
I'm really really excited to be able to play Nathria and Sanctum. I wasn't around when they were current and so getting to do each one on "easy mode" with the Fated affixes has been a blast (so far). The "remaster" of the dungeons has been pretty cool too. This is a super great way to end an expansion and it gives me hope that WoW is headed in the right direction.
I'm thrilled to see your positive look into the season 4 at the time of your recording. Far to often I see content creators go into a negative spin and not seeing and discussing what is working.
I completely agree with the best part of an expansion being the end. I always feel that. Though a new expansion launch is always a great time too
I'm enjoying season 4 so far. I think i would still like the SL dungeons over the 6 older ones because similar to how you said, this is the end of the expansion, this (for me) is the time to push keys with a new seasonal and not worry about feeling the need to go farm a new rep, renowns, conduit upgrades, etc etc. But playing the 6 older dungeons im glad i get to experience kara and WoD because theyre fun because theyre new to me. i'm like 50/50 whether i like playing older dungeons or staying with SL dungeons, but a pro to not having the SL dungeons is that i dont feel like i need to pick up the callings just in case it will get completed with a dungeon completion.
Ending note: i like seasonal, i like new (old) dungeons, still 50/50 whether i would like this or staying with SL dungeons
I only did a 15 Gambit, now I think I'll try some of the other ones, thxx
I think at least s1 of DF should be all DF dungeons, but I really like the idea of old dungeons being relevant for end game.
As far as Grimrail goes I feel like your view on it might again deteriorate come next week as we make our way through Sanguine affix lol.
Regarding Upper Kara I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention Medivh. His flame wreath mechanic is absolute bonkers, immunities let alone defensive cds are not countering it. Its dealing like 20-30k physical damage per tick, its SO overtuned ! I can barely keep up with my alt Resto Shaman on high keys, I dread to think what its like for less powerful healing specs out there.
For returning dungeons I'm hoping to see Seat of the Triumvirate return as I did not get to participate in the past past as most groups avoided queuing for it for tuning reasons. I also feel like Arcway could be an interesting dungeon to bring back, it had fun boss mechanics (last boss intermission) and the dungeon itself is quite vast, you've got lots of trash to deal with which brings more route variety to the gameplay which I like.
Interesting to hear you talk about the quality of players in 20s. I’ve noticed too that players are in keys higher than their S3 io indicates they were running last season. Not sure what that’s about.
Season 4 is ok. The problem I have is people not knowing the dungeons and queing for 16 17s. Like why are you queing with no basic understanding of mechanics? Take your ass in a +5 and learn. People assume just cause they did 17s last season they’re automatically qualified this season.
I also disliked how they took away SL dungeons but these new ones are kind of growing on me. Grimrail is a pain with quaking and sometimes the tank likes to keep the pack in flametongue and face frontals toward group, but other than that, you always +2 it. We had like 14 deaths in a 15 and still +2 it.
Another big issue I’ve been having is upper kara. In particular the 3rd and last boss. I feel like everybody continuously wipes on 2nd boss that they disband after their 5th wipe on medivh so nobody gets a look at the last 2. Pugs have been killing the 2nd boss (with the exception of nobody fucking kicking) and has been relatively smooth with maybe one wipe. But the 3rd boss, people having 6 stacks and wonder why they’re dying. Last boss, people not moving away from group with curse and or healer dispell right away. It’s frustrating
I like the idea of a rotation dungeon pool seasonally as SL dungeons in my own opinion started becoming stale in season 2, however I'm concerned from them pulling pools as far back as MoP.
I would love to see old Pre-Challenge Mode dungeons (Classic/BC/Wrath/Cata) Remade/Repurposed for M+ at some point.
I would have thought the month/s just before a new patch to come out to feel the same way as the end of an expansion since towards the end of a patch, there's not much reason to push either.
idk about all 8, but would like to see a mythic version of BRD as a mega dungeon (as long as they keep original intact)
LOL@ that warrior – srsly
Serpentshrine Cavern, Dire Maul East.
Everytime I complete grimrail it's because I've soloed the last boss 😂
''I cant step in a dungeon and dominate it'''
proceeds to solo the boss
I think 1 thing that helps is that we already had our legendaries and tier sets. So there are upgrades but it’s just linear additional stats. No big gaps or spikes. I think that is really nice
My all-star season: Ruby Life Pools (DF), Halls of Atonement (SL), The Necrotic Wake (SL), Shadowmoon Burial Grounds (WoD), Seat of the Triumvirate (Legion, but it's actually tuned to be not insanely challenging), The Underrot (BfA), The Everbloom (WoD), Shrine of the Storm (BfA, also tuned properly).
Can we just all stop for a moment, and appreciate a man that’s got a healthy respect for a ceiling fan? That’s a thing of beauty.
One thing I don't like is how people are doing high 20+ dungeons in the first week.. it just seems like the scaling is totally off. In season one a 15 was actually challenging. The dungeons have been getting progressively easier and I don't know if I like that. If you had max level gear last season a 15 in a new season is relatively easy. I don't know what your thoughts on this are but I'd be curious.
I would love to see quite a few from TBC or Wrath be updated for M+ depending on what they do for a seasonal affix.
I’ve watched you on and off since early BFA. Love your content, skill and determination. Good to see you enjoying the new content i’m also enjoying relearning the dungeons. Seems relaxing, but still engaging. 👍
After season 2 hit for SL the dungeons took a dark turn haha, became very stale to me. Would be so good for the game if they just had a rotation every new season with new dungeons while keeping some from the previous to keep the familiarity. Like i still enjoyed doing HoA all of SL, just easy and big pulls to pump. Love your content bro keep it uppppp!
Really happy to hear that you liking it, and your concern about new keys season 1 is always going to happen either with this system or pervious 2ys keys system, might be a bit less as with the new system, as we are having court of stars and jade temple + 2 old, can nullify a bit that start of an expansion madness, to some extent.
But moving forward, i really like it, even more than I expected it, it’s refreshing and challenging.
For my 8 list, i’d say:
Halls Of Atonement.
Upper Kharazan.
Junkyard.
King’s Rest (y i know, it’s bittersweet)
Underrot.
Gambit.
Darkheart Thicket.
Arcway.
I am enjoying S4, glad you are as well. I really want that sweet, sweet KSM mount 🙂
as someone who started playing in shadowlands, this is all new to me
I'm really enjoying your content. Thank you.
I know the feeling. I'm enjoying season 4. I decided that I'm going to finish pvp gearing my priest and farming the war fox mount that I have wanted for years. But pvp gear progression is bullcrap, since my priest is horde. It takes significantly longer to farm honor for upgrade /sigh
it's easy to solve the problem with people not knowing what's going on. Only invite players >3200 RIO last season and players who have done the dungeon a couple times already. problem solved.
You know I was absolutely not looking forward to this season but honestly ..I agree I am having too much fun running these dungeons. I think this resets gonna be so much easier with people knowing what to do(for the most part) and no inspiring. Man If they bring back HOA and ML , and ATAL I would use my vacation days just to stay home n blast keys haha
I am enjoying not feeling the pressures of speeding through raid.
Glad you are enjoying it buddy. I am too. I am quite pleased with how keys are going for me so far, too. Now I just need to figure out the 2 Kara dungeons and I should be good. I expect some nerfs to those 2 pretty quick as it seems like it's a bit overtuned (from what I have seen at least). This gives em a great feeling for DF and it's m+ rotation. It should be interesting once they run out of MoP, WoD, Legion, and BfA dungeons to bring back with this concept, what will they do? Abandon it? OR will they rework older content to make it "M+ ready"? Can you imagine something like Zul'Farrak or Shadowlabs done up as a M+ or how about the 3 ICC dungeons? The Argent tourney one? Stonecore? If they get the formula just right it could be REALLY interesting and lead to a complete world revamp (while they are at it) for 11.0, the same way they revamped the world in cata. The possibilities and far reaching nature is endless. (I mean eventually the SLs dungeons will even hit the "legacy" m+ rotation. Imagine DoS as part of the rotation in 12.3 or something. (The only hitch to adding SLs dungeons would be the covenant specific buffs/mechanics in each dungeon but it's easy enough to fix that by removing the restriction that says you have to be of X covenant to do Y buff/mechanic so that anyone could click the urn in DoS or the spear in spires etc.) If this system works well, and is accepted by the community at large (I know getting this community to accept anything is a bit of a tall order but it is doable) this could be something that changes the game forever (and for the better).
Grimrail is an absolute failure. It's not made for M+, you can just go straight basically. 2nd boss is awful and 3rd is even worse. you can only do the 3rd boss on high keys by cheesing it.
Like yourself I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Dungeon scaling is a little off as we all know, but I'm finding these old dungeons (new to me) a ton of fun. I just wonder, how much of it is because these dungeons goons are so mechanically easy. There are not many packs with 4+ super dangerous mobs, so the intensity isn't as wild as it was in s2/s3. I'm enjoying turning my brain to 85% and just smashing.
