Right?
Take a shot everytime Public sais the word "..right?" after a sentence 🙂 By the way, great video!
Does the sim factor in the haste you gain from Dreamweaver? Would that be enough to offset the less overall damage?
What is the point of Void Eruption in SL? I feel like it does nothing. It just feels like Blizz kept because it was something they worked so hard on for BFA.
I really hope Venthyr works out to be BiS… Feels like a nice big fuck-off button to press, lines up with Voidform (if waiting for PI wont be a thing, which Im pretty sure it wont), soulbinds look good and the aestethic is nice. Plus, works for Disc. Also seems really fun for PvP, though I havent been able to check it out alot yet.
for disc main and shadow alt…is kyrian good?
has anyone mentioned, that the aoe mindflay feels kinda bad with the pain aoe talent? casting my aoe 3 times, then refreshing the channeling cast is weird AF ._.
The covenant abilities do not exist in a vacuum, so what are we pretending like they do? Comparing NF to Kyrian or Necro is meaningless if you’re not also talking about soulbinds.
Currently I'm leaning very much to Kyrian, ok boon is completly unrelated to the shadow spec itself but it's in line with power infusion (every second time), does single tatget and aoe dmg and helps with mobility (a little bit) and on top it's usable for both healing specs. And overall it should be more fun than Nightfae.
I feel like the people designing and tuning the covenant abilities aren't the ones who also do class design, neither do they communicate well with each other. No offense but you do not have to be shadowpriest mastermind like Publik to see what is wrong with the current design decisions. So my only explanation for this is that the people working on it are either totally stressed out because of deadlines, too much working hours etc…or they simply do not understand shadowpriest mechanics and how dps work.
Even worse for the healer specs, especially for mythic+… gives no damage, makes you play awkwardly/unoptimized trying to spread the buffs, even more worthless now with the duration removal. Just resdesign it, it's been a mess since the start, they are spending so much time trying to fix it. These abilities that buff other players simply can't be balanced, so they end up making it too worthless for the person casting it.
Inb4 big buffs
"Hey guys its Publik back with another video, RIIIIIGHTTTT!!11"
at least i don't feel pressured to be a fairy priest
Great video! There is quite a bit to this but just curious on NF Soulbind dmg vs the other though. Your video doesnt quite take that into account. Assuming NF is still behind? Also you have Soulshift for movement as well. Impossible to calculate that benefit. Thinking about all that I guess Venthyr( good binds, ok spell, DoS)is bis over all(besides party weekly quest. Not a fan). Conventants are just stupid hard to balance in general. Right?!? hahaha
How come you didn't talk about any of the soulbinds and conduits affects on the ability? From what I heard that's what makes it good cause you can spread it to more targets.
Have you included the extra insanity gained from the extra mindbenders in a 10 minutes fight in the calcualtion of the extra insanity gained?, I'd say no because those alone gives 3 extra DPs in 10 minutes. Anyway, do not worry, they do not change the fact that you are right, 6 extra DPs plus 2 extra mindbenders in 10 minutes (supposing perfect using of both Minbender and Night Fae covenant ability) are still very under what any other covenant ability gives in regards of DPS gain, except maybe with the mindbender legendary, which maybe could put it in line with the other covenants, specially in AoE stuations.
I actually do love the idea of being a support priest (I've always wanted a chloromancer, Inquiscar, or Bard style class for the priest), and even I wouldn't choose Night Fae for its ability at this time. Its absolute shit. Sad too since Night Fae was the covenant I would prefer to go based on visuals and story elements (with Venthyr as a close second).
But I wanted to be a shimmery glimmery Priest 🙁
Another issue with night fae ability , it's boring as fuck. I want my "meaningful choice" to atleast be some flashy spell that either does something really cool, or maybe just hits hard. Getting a bunch of shitty passives only sometimes is lame
Kyrian ability is also affected by mastery now.
But I wanted to go Nightfae with my Priest (Main)… My most favourite Character in the game is Vol'jin and I want to learn more about his story… =/
Nice work, keep this up! Hopefully they react and make this ability relevant before release.
Already hate the title 🙁 as long as I'm not forced into being a damn Kyrian it won't be so bad I guess
If you always wait for pi…is troll the best race?
Would you be interested in doing a shadow priest legendaries tier list?
No damage increase but will mess up your rotation, sounds cool. xD I have always thought this Covenant ability is a weird one. First I planned to choose Night Fae for my Priest but recently I changed my mind (purely because of the Fae Guardians) and if we are not seeing major changes, I think I will go with Venthyr. I personally like the Mindgames, it is superb in PvP but works well in PvE as well, especially if you time it well on right enemy.
I think voidform reduction would be really awkward particularly with hungering void unless it stacked up and reduced it after it ended. I'd prefer a power infusion reduction but I know they are skeptical of that because of the possibility of shadow ending up running with the 'spread PI on everyone' situation which would kinda be toxic for everyone involved. A rework would probably be best and by rework i just mean making that faerie do something different.
Thanks for the shadow priest info, liking it on beta atm
Yes now I can pick necrolord or venthyr guilt free
perfect, i wanted to pick venthyr or necro anyways lol
I agree 100% from a raid POV but i would add the caveat that in M+ It is decent for making sure you have a bender up for every pull (assuming you are using the bender lego). So i would say there is 1 decent use for it.
Thank you Publik for all the work put in, these videos are great both for us and for the devs. Hopefully they are listening.
If Nightfae sucks what is the best for raiding?
Publik, you seem to be forgetting the new conduit Fae Fermata (it's a rework of the one that increased the duration of Fae Guardians by like 20 seconds). rank 1 is "Your Fae Guardians leave behind a 60% effective copy of their benefit, lasting 3.0 sec when they jump to a new target." This could be really good in a raid environment. Especially if it can be stacked. That, or it would be used to troll, by messing up peoples cds.
What if you would make the covenant ability the way that you get insanity of devouring plaque dot damage instead of direct damage this way you would get more insanity and it would make a meaning if you would prepare before activating the ability. + if done correctly you could get even more damage if you would combine it with power inf and void (maybe even go so far that you can shift the cd around so that it reduces the cd of Power inf. that way you would have +- a 15 sec down time on power inf. and casting a shadow mend would not feel that bad because you would get insanity from devouring plaque.) Just a little idea.
I believe i speak for most priests as i say:
Thank god!
Covenant Sims can be found here: https://github.com/WarcraftPriests/sl-shadow-priest/blob/master/covenants/README.md
well, aren't most covenants bad right now? From what I keep hearing and reading, Venthyr is great for a few specs, and Kyrian is good for a few, other than that, everything is mediocre.
F** night fae
It's a really cool ability, on paper. It just doesn't work for WoWs action economy.
Getting it going where you want takes 4 casts. You can get away with fewer but if you want to manage the faeries, which has to be the point of it surely(?), you'll need a window where you dedicate four casts to this one spell. After that it limits your spell options or you'll mess up the faeries.
It'll however always be weak as it offers a sliver of damage to Shadow via Insanity on Wrathful but no increased damage or healing for Discipline or Holy. Indirectly the 10% damage reduction helps out on the heal front and all three get a minute boost to Mindbender but as the video points out, not really at any degree worth mentioning.
Just turn it into a legendary and give us an option that competes on the same level as the other three.
I know that I'm going to get downvoted for this, but the way you put it you've sold me on the Night Fae for my covenant. Hear me out.
Thank you for your opinions and oversight over S. Priest, you've helped out a ton in cutting through the beta chatter. You're only looking at this from a sims point of view.
Personally, Wrath baby S. Priest here and the overall utility of the class draws me to play it since it fits so well for what ever the situation calls for. Need heals? Done. Need a Rez? Done. Mages and Warlocks can't do that.
Looking at this from a casual PvP'er point of view, I love that I can prevent 10% of an incoming Pryoblast or get the extra oomf I need for DP to finish off a tricky plate wearer. A major CD reduction I can share with PI means I can recharge the Healer with me and we can survive just that much longer. Add in conduits for flavor and empowering the ability? Done.
PvP is gonna be 'new-ish' again with all of the new abilities and leggos, my only wish is that we could have a leggo dedicated to Legion Dispersion (75% damage reduction, 90% heal over time of being a sexy cloud) or just making VE a raid worthy cooldown again would be awesome.
As always, my eternal plea: Bring back Shadow Ravens as a glyph of something, not just a 5 min CD toy with a minute effect!
Any changes to your opinion now that it reduces the cool down of Void Eruption instead of Shadow fiend?
The escape ability has actually made it the best now post patch according to some major websites, but barely. Good thing we got a delay.
