Remastering World Of Warcraft: The Classics in Unreal Engine 5

Read more about World of Warcraft ➜ https://worldofwarcraft.mgn.gg

This was meant to be a rather small summer time project to get to know Unreal Engine 5 better and take a break from my own game project but turned into a three months endeavour. Was it worth it? I don’t think so, but I’ll let you decide…

In contrast to other projects like this I didn’t want to change the style but rather use every tool available to make the old assets really shine. Add on top of that some features like cloth physics, PBR Textures, Volumetric Fog, Foot IK (correct foot placement on ground) and Controller Support and you get some rather compeling visuals.

The assets are ripped right out of the WoW Classic Versions of the Game through the amazing tool wow.export.
Huge shout-out to kruithne who made this tool.
If you want to try it for yourself:

The rest of the assets are either made by myself, kitbashed with existing wow assets or from content packs I own. At the time of uploading this video all of Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms and Northrend are in-game and running.

If you want more videos please tell me what you’d like to see in the comments!

I do not intend to ever release this in any form.

  1. Blizzard's biggest missed chance is simply recreating what they have in an RPG like Skyrim to The Elder Scrolls online is.

Fyi, I know skyrim came before TESO but my point is that I would play a realistic graphic version of wow with similar music to the online version.

  2. Освещение говно, текстуры говно. Чем тут новый движок? Все плоское и насыщенное. Дождь так вообще позор…

  4. "In early 2021, due to the long-term success of the original title, Bend Studio reportedly pitched Days Gone 2 to Sony. Later, it was revealed that the idea was shelved, most likely due to the negativity surrounding the game" -whatifgaming. But what negativity? That is outrageous, it's an awesome game. If they moved DG2 into closer to the city the hordes could have been incredible.

  5. man only fucking blizzard with thier billions of dollar and they can't do this and this 1 developer did this it is a shame how they can't upgrade wow to this level of detail. I wouldn't mind playing this WOW remaster if it was made like this. GOOD JOB man. I think it was worth IT.

  6. I mean, yeah, the whole world needs updating too, models, meshs etc but the lighting looks better for sure. But throwing in new lighting isn't a remaster, lots more to do!
