A 1993 British film detailing the relationship between C.S. Lewis (Anthony Hopkins) and a Jewish American poet Joy Davidman (Debra Winger). The relationship and story covers Joy’s diagnosis and death from cancer and how it fundamentally challenged Lewis’ christian faith. Hopkins performs eloquently in his role conveying both Lewis’s intellect and the intellectual/spiritual struggle that raged within his mind trying to make sense of such gut wrenching grief amid his solid spiritual position.
The film is directed by Richard Attenborough.
