Choosing your main when it comes to a new expansion can be a really difficult thing to do for most of us, so here’s what I have chosen and the reasons why, including my choice of covenant for each of the classes, to hopefully help you along with your decision too. What will you main in Shadowlands? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Great video!
Choosing for me is so hard. Im a mythic raider and i love warrior so much, but there are so many more classes doing better. And i m really enjoying blood dk lately, but it seems they arent the beasts they were in bfa.

  2. Nice to hear someone decided to main a druid like me:P My main reason is because i don't wanna wait like you and actually I kind of like it playing multiple roles on the same char so it will be like something Belance for raiding(i'm not a mythic raider either but i do raid on a daily basis and with my guild usually we managed to clear all Heroic content, with our own phase ofc;P) Bear for m+ mostly because i like the idea to be able to bring some guildmates with me and doing stuff together, and resto, if i do not have much time or i, need to just join a pug and go it's most likely the best to go for(At least for the perception of the community towards resto performance into m+ envairmontXD) i'm still not sure for with covenant go for, even if i like a lot the faye it's look like vantyr is going to be the top (at least for dps) and i'm so sad about itXD

  4. Nice, Hunter was my second class choice too, mained it TBC thru MOP.
LOVE Marksman hunter, stopped playing cus they butchered the spec (Cata MM was my fav) but it seems to be in a good spot now for SL.

  5. I've been trying to pick 4 characters so I can experience each of the four stories like you. My short list is feral/guardian druid, frost/blood DK, disc priest for the three I've decided on and then either MM hunter or elemental shaman for a ranged dps alt (for the weeks that there are really melee unfriendly affixes like spiteful). Probably go with the hunter because I've been leveling one on the beta and feels pretty good at least for open world content. Haven't been able to try him out in dungeons because literally no one is doing dungeons as Alliance on the beta.

I mainly do mythic plus these days (season 4 was my first season of giving it a serious go and I pugged my way up to 1850 io as a feral druid). I'm trying to pick a main class that I can tank dungeons on as I've always been a melee player above all else and want to challenge myself to stop being a chicken about tanking M+ PUGs. I got into the M+ scene so late in BfA that it felt really daunting trying to learn them when everyone else knew them backwards, forwards, and sideways. I'm going to learn the dungeons right from the start of Shadowlands so I don't feel left behind again. Guardian druid has always been most comfortable for me because it's simple and sturdy enough that I can focus on mechanics. Blood DK is the tank I'm second most comfortable playing.

My main for the last two expansion has been a feral druid, though my unholy DK got quite a lot of play time as well. I'd love to keep going with the feral, but I have serious concerns about Blizzard tuning us to be competitive enough with the other classes to be a viable option. Every time a new build gets released there isn't any mention of us at all and time is quickly running out. With the return of two handed frost and the viability of obliteration builds (did some dungeons on the beta and it performed well and was really fun to play) I may end up splitting the title of "main" between guardian for tanking and frost DK for dps.

My current struggle is trying to assign a different covenant to each character. I don't care if the covenant performs well because numbers can change, but want something that has good utility in the soulbind and has enjoyable class abilities. Probably do night fae DK, venthyr druid, necrolord hunter, and kyrian priest. Still somewhat up in the air, though. As much as I'd like to swap the DK and druid, the druid isn't hurting for mobility and DKs need all the help they can get trying to waddle away from mechanics (the cast time on the venthyr teleport feels awful on a melee spec). I really like the night fae ability on the hunter, but I won't be playing him much so better to sacrifice his playstyle a bit than my main's. I could swap the priest and hunter because the bleed dispel makes more sense for the hunter and the kyrian class ability is more fun to play, but the kyrian is thematically so good for a priest and the zone matches his transmog so well! haha

  6. I'm maining druid for this expansion, and probably going feral (I'm still undecided with how I feel about the changes to moonkin). I do know I am 100% going night fae though. It just fits the theme of a druid way too perfectly, to the point where I dont even care if its the "best" covenant for my spec. Im already playing feral so it's clear I don't care much about being as optimal as possible

  7. Nice vid and great list. Just worked out my order of levelling today. Main-Druid, same reasons as above. Then Outlaw or Unholy DK. Specs for second choices, not classes. Pally or Monk may slip in earlier if I want diff tank options.

  8. I was thinking Rogue (sub) main, but I've got every class at 50, so I may experiment a bit more during the prepatch to see what I like. Also enjoying Shadpriest. Nice video as always mate <3

  9. I'll be sticking with my Ret Pally. He's been my guy since I started back in WotLK. A close second is my Assassin Rogue. I enjoy playing that toon. Hope your newborn is doing well and sleeping through the night. Cheers

  10. Venthyr unholy dk as main. As alt maybe restro shaman on kyrian? And prot pala as kyrian? The i need 2 more for the other covenants …. so necro and nightfae … maybe hunter druid? What do you guys say?

  11. My main is Frost DK and off spec is Blood. I like to have possibility to tank if the situation needs it. I have also recently practise Unholy so I could play that as well. I have also going with four covenant tactic with first four characters.

  12. I'm choosing between baer (yes, that's how you spell it – bears are hunter pets 😉 and protection paladin… Druids do have all that lovely mobility, stealth, slow fall with Flap (as long as you have balance affinity) etc, but I'm falling in love with protection atm (and retri isn't bad) so leaning more towards that. I guess I'll be playing both..? (And paladin would be Kyrian, while druid would be Venthyr, so seeing both covenants is also a good reason.)

  13. Same 4 as me, but yet to choose between going back to my old main of 8 years, my Prot Pally or sticking with my main for the past 2 years, my Hunter. Druid & Warlock will be my initial Leather & Cloth toons though.

Taking the full week of Shadowlands release off of work in order to level the Pally & Hunter, and depending on which I'm enjoying most I'll make my choice then. Probably like you go with Pally in m+ and raid as Hunter. For pretty much the same reasons tbh.
