There’s this cycle that WoW Classic can’t seem to escape, whenever a new version if Classic WoW or fresh servers get released, the hype is insane and it feels great. But after a while it just seems to die down and eventually no one cares anymore besides the hardcore players.
We’re gonna go more into this situation in this video and be sure to tell me your perspective in a comment, I try to read all of those!

  1. I've been playing Classic ("Era" 🙄) WoW since September 2019. To me, the game is more vibrant than ever, despite Blizzard's cynical efforts to divide the player base so that they can claim that they were right after all and that no one wants Vanilla WoW. We've survived SoM, Hardcore, SoD, and Anniversary Edition. And guess what? Everyone always ends up coming back.

  2. Regarding the speed of leveling, 1) It depends on how challenging it is. If there's no danger, it's not an adventure. Even by the time we get to Wrath the game feels easy enough with heirlooms that all of the challenge is gone…. in which case, I'd rather get to max level quickly.
    2) Are you learning new skills/meaningful talents at a regular pace? If so, then it feels good. If not, then it drags on and what is the point? Once you get past a certain point in WoW leveling in ANY version of the game, there are much less abilities to learn (especially ones that have a large impact) and I just reach a point where I want to be done but still have a decent stretch left.
    3) How many times have I done it? The more I've done it, or the further along the expansion is, the faster I just want to get something to cap. I don't mind the XP boost that comes from heirlooms because of that, but I dislike the increase in power that comes with it. Also, heirlooms means some of the progression from gear while leveling is gone, and that doesn't feel good.

So my preference is something that is challenging and dangerous the entire way, that doesn't overstay its welcome or slow down for the 2nd half, and a percentage XP boost I can turn on or off that doesn't destroy gear progression while leveling. No version of the game nails this, but the 1-30 Vanilla experience is what it should feel like the whole way up IMO.

  3. I've been playing Classic for about two months now, and I'm sick of it. The economy is awful, and the auction house rarely has anything good. (One-handed swords above level 32? Nope. Daggers over level 20? Nah.)

All the realms available for me have low populations. My current realm has only two guilds. About 80% of players are in one guild, 15% in the other guild, and maybe 5% in no guild. I belonged to a guild for a few days. People are nice; they give everything away, and that's why the auction house is so pathetic. "Hey, who wants this blue chest piece? Does anyone need rugged leather? Here, have some mageweave!"

  4. my personal take is playing private servers (as much good as it is) is really bad, i never saw the appeal, i played once back in tbc or something to play as a lvl 70 rogue or something to try the class, but apart from that, i never saw the appeal, and this is for other games / mmo's i played.

I agree with the difficulty of wow, but saying Retail is grindy, i mean vanilla is the most grindy version of the game (next to legion and pandaria).

I think SoD is fine, but i also agree classic + is the future, i just don't know what that means cuz everyones F**king defination is different

  5. “Pls blizz give us classic WoW fresh servers so we can complain about it a month after they release” geez bro like I get the WoW community is frustrated with blizzard but fuck at this point they could fix remove all microtransactions, retcon the lore and fix it, and give all players a year sub for free and people would still complain about the game

  6. The inmates have been running the asylum for a long, long time now. Look at who's in charge of Retail – Ian Hozziwhat's-his-face.. (not gonna even try and spell it) – a former leader of the sweaty guild "Elitist Jerks" from EQ. There was another guy at the top who was selling Mythic+ boosts. The shark has long been jumped there. So when they go to do Classic, it's not surprising that they hired people who are fellow hardcore sweaties, and think that they, and only they – represent the community. I played (and loved SoD P1/P2) and it's sad to hear that it shit the bed after that. I thought that maybe Blizz had finally gone back to trying to make WoW fun for everyone, but old habits die hard.

  7. So coming from someone who has played TWoW and Warmane, I say you should at least give them a try. It's clear from your videos that your interest in retail WoW or anything put out by Blizzard is fading pretty quickly. So really what do you have to lose? The communities on both servers are pretty good, especially TWoW, and they each have custom content to keep you interested. Anyway, that's just my two cents on it. Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.

  8. honestly mate, if you dont want to be competitive, then stop complaining about not being able to compete against the competitive players.
if you dont have 100,000+ hours to play the game, then don't

i think the games fine being as difficult as it is, while still having plenty of easy accessible content for me, even while i casually play WITHOUT add ons.

the ONLY point made that i agree is an issue are the bots. the bots are ruining the game, but the rest of this is like… NOBODY expects you to pour thousands of hours in, nobody expects you to try hard to get to the highest level, just relearn what it means to play casual!
Maybe it just means… you do quests and professions, skip raids and dungeons. Or you learn to live with "alright but not great" gear, you dont NEED to get the highest level gear, just give it your best and be happy with the results you get, you dont NEED to beat the game and compete against the best,
you just enjoy the journey, and if you dont enjoy the journey, maybe you just dont really like the game in the first place.
