EQ was and is the BEST MMO ever. I know the WoW crowd will say different but they just don't understand. Those first few years of EQ were HARD. And it stayed hard for a very long time. The upper end raiding and questing was monumental. Nothing like those 72 person raids where everyone had to be doing the exact right thing or it was a fail.
I swapped between Everquest and Asheron's Call. I also tried DAoC. I played Earth and Beyond a bit too. I signed up for the Star Wars Galaxies beta and was selected! I talked the devs into including the mouse steering technique used in Everquest where if you hold the right mouse down you strafe with A & D keys and without mouse you turn. I played SWG at release but it didn't really hold my interest. When WoW dropped I make a dwarf warrior but gave up on him around 30 and made a hunter that I leveled up to max and got bored. I switched to playing Sims Online, it was fun and full of people. I played LOTRO and a bit of Eve Online and then kind of dabbled in all of them again and didn't really stay focused on one game for some time until playing on P99 green.

Dark Age of Camelot set a strong foundation for MMO PvP. Such a great game
