This might just be the reason Deathwing, Tirion, Gul’Dan and others are NOT in Shadowlands.

Before WoW: Shadowlands was released we had a huge wishlists of heroes and villains we wanted to see, from Tirion Fordring to Deathwing, to Gul’Dan and various other allies we lost and enemies we had defeated.

However we are now done with 9.1, the Jailer is reaching the Sepulchre and there are absolutely 0 signs of these characters. Luckily the Grimoire of the Shadowlands and beyond gave us some really interesting hints and that is that if a force is powerful enough it can claim a soul, which might just confirm the speculation that characters like Tirion and Deathwing may not actually be in the Shadowlands and they may have been claimed by the force that had the most control over them in life.

Could this actually be the case?

  1. 'If a soul is tethered by a sufficiently powerful force then the Kyrian either nudges it back to the mortal plane or gives it to the force that claims it.' Were characters like Tirion and Deathwing claimed by such a force? What do you think? 2. Remember the soldier in northrend that was infected with the plague and he was "saved" by the means of ascension by a'dal. A'dal said "he shall tase only paradise" or something and even though it was long before all the retcons it might confirm this current narrative and he was indeed ascended to the Light afterlife where he hangs with Tirion, Xera, yogg saron, n'zoth and the rest. And the void lords apparently think of the naaru as their wayward brethren so it might very well be that the opposite forces have their cycle and the void lords and the naaru indeed take part in it like two sides of the same coin

  3. Uther died without the light in my opinion. When we go through his story it seems like it. That said it would make since why he is in shadowlands then. Seeing the light would not want him and he lost his way. That said good video 😛 love it i can see many expansion theory's made out of this

  4. I just love
"where is Tirian? where is Deathwing?!"
not gonna lie I'd enjoy seeing Deathwing in shadowlands but my biggest question would be…

Would he be Deathwing or Neltharian?

  5. I had really hoped to see Varian with Odyn in the halls of Valor when we went back to return the valkyr from Desmotaeron.

    But sadly, this didn't happen.

There is a possibility of seeing him later when we rescue anduin in 9.2

And lastly he may be turned into an abomination in maldraxxus, if blizz is lazy and claims he lost his fight to get out of the theater

  6. Well it is claimed that Sintharia whispered Zeryxia from the void and when we killed Zeryxia she said she was going to meet her mother on the other side (perhaps the void realm)

  7. I think Ysera illustrated that the Dragon Aspects are about equivalent to Wild Gods, like the Loa. Since Hakkar, a completely evil Loa, was sent to Ardenweald even though he did a lot of horrible things in life, I think it's totally possible that Deathwing's soul is also in some random anima pod in Ardenweald.

  8. If this is true, shouldnt we see galakrond in the shaldowlands? He was the first time death magic was used on azeroth? he even raised dead dragons as mindless zombie, making him (essentially) the aspect of death

  9. They try so hard to push the books to fit into the ever changing lore, but I am not going to buy any books to read more background info on things that are not included in the game. Shadowlands had potential to bring in more nostalgia from many of the well known lore characters. Even if they were only visible or mentioned in some way, that would provide something more then what we have. It would have been interesting to even see the non-important characters that have died from past expansions. Like characters that were just NPCs from past quests or were otherwise witnessed by us to have died. That would at least connect this expansion with the previous ones. If there are other afterlives, they should have mentioned something about it.

Since you were discussing a well-known paladin that is in this game, it reminded me about the one from a quest chain from WOTLK, when in the Ice Crown zone, you have to save a paladin who is infected by the plague from dying and turning into a mindless scourge. It was neat to see the Naaru intervene at the end to save his soul. You implication is that these other afterlives may be trying to keep souls for themselves for the anima (energy source). Now I see this expansion is the Matrix; our souls are simply fuel to keep things running, ha!

Oh well, with the current climate at Acti-Blizz and the legal issues they are dealing with, hopefully this is the kick in the butt they need to do better in the future. But we shall see…

  10. We already see canonically that other forces claim souls. Obvioualy Deathwing is with the Void, and had we killed Garrosh as his Heart-empowered self in Siege, he would've likely went to the Void as well. It's possible Garrosh will be brought back, and that his soul split like Uther and Sylvanas did, and what we see in the raid was just the Rage/Pride of Garrosh.
