Previously, I think it’s designed to stop you from farming forever. So it slow you down to some degree. But later after you have yak I don’t see any significant meaning other than if you die too many times you get punished and especially in M+
By 2025, WoW is just going to be click this button to log in, this button to select what class and race your character will transition to today, this button you collect your mount, and this button to complete the daily raid.
It’s a way to punish dying. And it’s much easier on players than the mmos that came before it yall would lose your minds if yall lost levels or gear on death like the older mmos
You are worried about a good mechanic that should just be utilized properly but isnt because developers are bad at their job. While you blindly play a p2w game. 😂
It serves several purposes. As you said, it's a gold sink (not much of one, but a lot of small ones is fine). It is a penalty for failure. It breaks up the flow of some content. If you didn't need to repair, rebuff, heal up, run back to a boss after a raid wipe, players would get far more frustrated. The small break between boss pulls help people cool down, it forces you to take a breath
It serves no purpose other than being an annoyance. Especially so for anyone who progs raid with guild. That's one of the only times people really ever die in retail anyway. (Outside of M+)
If you think it's neccesary go wipe on Mythic raid prog 75+ times in a night. You can easily spend 20k+ on repairs in a single night.
Not even a gold sink at this point. This isn't vanilla. When you have players kicking rocks not knowing what else to buy with 5 million gold, having to pay 100g a day to repair ain't doing much.
Step by step Blizz were removing social/rpg aspects of WoW. Now people are asking to remove another piece of the game for convenience. Keep up the good work. Who even cares about retail anyhow?
you can add an modifier that lowers the damage based on how low the durability is. and if a high level do a self repair instead if an npc repair. they would get temporary buffs based on how lucky they get on repairs.
Yep I've come across people that don't have gold. Running around almost broken get into pvp fights kill them. Then gear is broken. Now they talk shit cause the excuse you wouldn't have beat me if my gear wasn't broken.

Like holy shit.
It's not worth the time to think about.

I think they should up the cost alot. Wow is too easy on players for dying.
Be cause it's one of the few last remaining small details people actually loved about Classic up to lich king. Maybe even cata.
I think the purpose is to help maintain the RPG aspect of the game… kind of like how we still need to put down a fire to cook!
Yes it serves a purpose it’s a consequence for wiping. Penalty for death and failure. Retail players are too coddled lol
I think you should quit the game it's been dead since the panda expansion.
wow needs a massive reset

Bro idiots like this are cause of current state of retail….
Minor? shits expensive as fuck! lol not everyone knows how to make stupid amounts of gold lol…

Punishment for dying. Maybe take away all consequences and give free loot. Oh wait
I’d like for it to stick around.. always nice out adventuring to come home and spend a few gold
Teaches you don't die or pay for it.
Omfg, yes its an mmoRPG you should have to repair.
It’s a consequence for dying ……
My jeeves: "what is my purpose?"

Lol it helps the wow economy a bit by taking some gold out of the system
Retail wow is trash

No repairs and free transmog are so major in Remix.
For the horde❤😊
Just part of the rpg nature…. wtf does everything need purpose? Playing the game has 0 purpose beside thebpurpose you give it.
