What Classes WON & LOST? Shadowlands Alpha Healer Roundup – What’s Good & What NEEDS Love

The healers are pretty good! They’re not without their issues and balance concerns, but they’re all unique with specific strengths, weaknesses and playstyles. There’s a case for picking each one, but that can result in some ‘bad’ choices for specific content.

  1. My main in BfA was a monk, more specifically MW. I don't want to be forced into fist weaving, it is a nice option but it's not what I want baseline.

You were describing MW like that gameplay loop is an issue, I don't think so. It has more in depth choices than just spamming vivify (though that is always a part of it)

  2. I wish that Holy Paladins could have Eternal Glory return as a third holy power spender (instead of exclusive with Word of Glory), and that holy avenger and seraphim weren't mutually exclusive with each other. I think both of those give you more fun choices when you're playing. Three spenders instead of two makes for more choice, and having more cooldowns available allows you to chain them or stack them.

  3. wth, I don't use any macros. What is so hard about clicking a person and hitting a keybind? while the spell is casting you click someone else immediately using another ability. rinse and repeat. All those macros are a crutch.

  4. As a main Hpal i really hate the changes. There are so many classes getting many new things on top and nice changes. Paly actually gets a hard nerf and nothing special. Sad.

  5. To be honest, I typically love all of your content but this video, as a healer main who play's multiple classes healer specs throughout an expansion, I felt this video was severely lacking and misleading. The final straw was at the end, "To wrap up, I think you're basically good with anything here." This makes me feel you didn't do any research on healers in BFA and how they performed so that that could inform if no to little change was a good or bad thing in Shadowlands. 98% of the charts for mythic plus is resto druids. Occasional holy pally and MW thrown in. Most of the healer specs in the game are not viable for the largest group of player type, or for that matter, even the highest-end player type, in keys over approximately a 10-12 without feeling like you need to take the drug speed to be able to halfway do whats needed. And even then people die. Mythic plus at this point is half the content of the game. For the only healer that everyone can agree is viable in higher mythic plus to be druid, is sad. Holy priests and resto shamans ESPECIALLY need desperate help in higher keys. I play healer, its what I do. Just infuriates me that I can only typically play the same one, year after year in content that is one of the two major features of each expansion and half the content. Its bad & lazy design.

  6. holy paladin should just have a perm aoe added to melee with crusader talent allowing passive healing and when popped burst for both dps and heals, keep flash and shock for single target healing and bring radiance back with the holy scream. 1 basic with melee dps 2 single light/heavy heals and some ramp/burst aoe heals. done.- keep them melee for high risk high reward healer.

holy priest should be the ranged version of this.

  7. I think there is a fallacy that everyone buys into. Healing does not have to be complex to be fun. Look at Swiftmend – it fitted a very, very important niche need. Now you have to add a hot, gcd, swiftmend and you don't even get a major new instaheal, it just converts a hot to an instaheal. Some other specs require you to do damage. I'm a healer! If I wanted to do damage I'd run a DPS toon. In progression raiding I have a full time job, healing and at one time as a healing coordinator. I do damage if my raid groups keeps hitting the enrage timer. Until then shut up about damage. I loved Holydin as a simple responsive healer until around 5.0 and they it has been broken ever since. MW was fun in Legion and that was it – I don't do Fistweaver now or ever. So despite all the prep I did for my paladin and druid for Shadowlands – I might have go back to my old Shammy which I could run in my sleep or finally bite the bullet and run the one spec I always struggled with for over 10 years – Holy Priest.
