  1. As of writing this message there are 10649 guilds that killed at least 2 bosses on mythic so you could say they are trying to get some progression. out of that, you have fewer than 700 guilds that actually killed Sire on Mythic which means we're looking at around 6.5% of "mythic raiding" guilds that finished their progression. saying that most guilds are done with progression is not accurate.

I'm going to keep watching the vid now to see if you guys touched other topics that cause the mass flee from WOW at the moment.

  2. (Part 1) beware – a wall of text ahead of you
Okay I finished watching this and there are a few key things that I think both of you looked over when discussing why players are leaving.

The first and most important point is the length of this patch.
This is the longest a first patch was ever going through without any new content in the history of WOW and 9.1 is still not even on the PTR. there is an actual chance that 9.1 will come out in August.
This is much slower than BFA which was a trash expansion and even slower than WOD which brought WOW to it's knees.
There is simply not enough content to keep players around.

2nd point is the constant failing of blizzard to stick with things that work and their consistent attempts to be "innovative" with new systems.
Covenants failed in several points that I can go on and on about, but I'll try to summarize it. the storylines are rather boring especially when you do them several times.
Blizzard took one of the worst features in Legion artifacts, the fact that you had to put a lot of time and effort into one artifact and could not really multispec properly early on and replicated it in a much bigger scale with covenants. one of your spec can demand you to go nightfae but a diff spec will require you to go venthyr.

Soul binds and conduits are a very poor attempt to replicate the old glyph system. it does exactly the same as glyphs were meant to do but it does it worse.

The maw is one of the worst designed areas that were ever created. doing quests for venari to get sockets or upgrade your conduits is a bad way to keep players around. the fact that you can't even upgrade the conduit of your choice but have to work to get enough stygia to get your a conduit you never used upgraded is a terrible mechanic.

Torghast is probably the worst in terms of disappointments in this expansion so far. time gating soul ash in torghast was their worst idea of the expansion. there are no rewards for doing torghast and if you're only doing it for the soul ash… well that's a failed mechanic right there. why? cause it forces you to participate in content you don't like to get access to something you must have in order to do content that you do like.
Imagine a situation that in order to get the best legendary upgrade you HAVE to do pet battles dungeons. not as another way to obtain it, but HAVE to do it.
This is torghast right now. a game mode that is not very interesting to most players. it's not rewarding to say the least and it's a mandatory thing for every new char you have in order to be relevant.

Goodluck avoiding this if you want to play a multispec char like a druid/priest. in fact good luck as a shadow priest that has several legendaries for different situations that you have to farm the zone for weeks to obtain everything. Nowadays it's not even at it's worst form cause when it started you had to climb the layers on every new char. I have today 10 lvl 60 chars that I try to maintain. the amount of time I spent in this shit zone made me hate every second of it.

the 3rd point is indeed what you guys touched with is the disparity between PVP and PVE in terms of gear.
The PVP system is actually designed very well for the content. you have to remember that unlike the PVE world first races, you can come into a pvp season in the middle and still make it to the top. so it works very well for them.

In PVE there are 2 major contents that must be seperated in order to prosper properly.
Mythic raiding and raiding as a whole always relied on pushing content when you're slightly undergeared. the best players manage to get hard bosses down with lower gear and the rest of the playerbase follows once better tactics form and more gear is available. that has always been the case and it's perfectly fine. What's not okay was the fact that the gear in the raid is absolutely garbage. many classes have better gear in PVP due or mythic plus gear has better itemization on it. when the tier started not enough gear dropped as well and the overall feeling was just not rewarding.

As for Mythic plus, unlike raids which normally focus more on single target fights with cleave options or council fights, M+ is a lot more about pace. You need high AOE capabilities to pull off high keys, you need a lot of control and the tank has actual meaning and is not a tauntbot. the fact that gear only scaled to 210 and you'd have to sacrifice reddit virgins to get the items you want in the weekly chest is a horrific design.
also the fact that this game mod is not considered to be on the same level as raiding is just absurd to me. defeating sire on Mythic is hard and should award players access to 233 gear. but a 24 key is not easier. in fact, i'd argue there are about the same number of people who killed sire on mythic as there are players who did all dungeons at +20. I don't see why players that cleared the content on 20 can't get to upgrade some of their gear up to 233.

  3. Finally some mages content. I also don't like PVP and I hate it that there is the best gear for my class. I wish it could be like the old mmo games when you farm gear over PVE and then smashing players in the PVP. It's ok that the PVP will benefit you in someway but not as for best gear in the game.
