Asmongold watches “Why New Players Are QUITTING World of Warcraft” by Venruki. As a former professional WoW e-sports player and now a popular streamer and content creator, Venruki has wonderful insight on why new players are deciding to STOP playing World of Warcraft. Could it be the ridiculous flying requirements of Patch 9.2? Corporate Blizzard disasters and sexual harassment lawsuits? Perhaps, FFXIV (Final Fantasy 14) or New World are just better MMOs? Asmongold discusses what Blizz could do to revitalize the game and make former WoW players return to one of the best MMORPGs.

If WoW could just take the best parts of FF14 and stop with these insane grinds it’d be so much more fun. I’ve burned out on FF14 after years and years, want to play WoW again so badly, but it just seems like way too much to actually contribute.
no… i think, people leave just they weak! you guys can't blame only this expansion, how about next expansion? maybe will be more darkness and what we want will created by blizzard, they maybe make first thing (dragon story) before we going to next expansion, for new players dont think you need get 100% complete gear in that game, think about you follow the stories not the gear! gear is second priority i think, that tips from me.
thats why classic added because that for new generation to play, and follow the story from zero, that why blizzard made classic!
This is a cultural disparity too. Its a mindset thing. Some people who play games don't want to have to read guides. Some players love it. Those who are predisposed to be driven, motivated, and ambitious (irony – they play wow) love having to grow, learn, and improve. They have the right mindset to be accepting of the journey of growth. Others are lazy, content, and just want to mess about.
WoW is not a game for messing about, and that's OK.
With this said – agreed. The way WoW has progressed has limited one characters ability to be self sufficient. You need multiple professions, you need multiple alts, you need to log in often, you need to do content you don't enjoy. Before you would log in before raid and that was enough. Now if you aren't getting your world quests done you get fucked. It turns WoW into a job and that is another barrier to getting to the enjoyable parts of the game. Which at the core is PvE raids, PvE story content, and PvP.
Kind of of bad you have to google every 3rd quest some are just so stupid I quit years ago then tried again nope just to much stupid for me.
'cause it's times for world of warcraft 2, the gameplay mechanics are so clunky and the HUD is really terrible, every new player will run away as fast as they understand how much time you have to play to actually do something.
I started playing wow 1-2 months after shadowlands launched and the first big issue I encountered was the lack of information on how to reach certain areas. Usually I would find cool looking gear on wowhead from past expansions which I wanted to transmog but I had no idea how to reach the locations, same with mounts.
This idiot hasnt a braincell to conjure his own thought. Always on someone elses videos agreeing with whatever they say and trying to expand on it.
An idea of mine: instead of a new player being confused after the exiles let them start normally after lvl 10. What wow needs the most know is also playeres to actually explore other zones instead of just going back in time and chosing the closest zone for effiency.
The Idea:
Let someone like khadgar tp you across the map to any zone you would like and balance all the zones, its tough but it has to be done. Now when the zones are balanced let khadgar tp the player to whatever lvling zone cause right now either 1. players want to go to other zones but its a waste time 2. the zone is poorly balanced or 3. New players who dont know other zones and are confused and have no incentive to why they should we go to other zones. Let the balancing and khadgar fix that. Let everyone TP to every zone until they hit max lvl, as this is more of a tool for lvling and new players. Also once you tped to a zone you can only use it again after completing a part of the story and now you can tp again after getting a feel for the zone. It could either have a big cooldown of like 3 hours no matter what or you wont be able to tp back to the same place you just tp to for another 3+ hours or a max limited use pr day, so you can't just spam it and you would still need to fly around urself etc.
I feel like this is a great idea/ideas 🙂 Let me know what you think.
Because you have to suck dick everyday to get better (referring to BfA and Shadowlands, dragonflight isn't that bad)
I like the world, the questing and the general vibe the game brings but recently i did my first dungeon oh boy the leader was a real piece of work do this do that i don’t like people telling me what to do and pacing my rithym to fit in with the teams was exhausting, that’s not why i play a videogame bruh so with that i said never again and went back to questing
Leveling is so fast which makes the amazing story line non existent. Community is not helpful at all/scorn new players. Cartoony graphics suck. Boss battles/graphics/cut scenes suck. Seems like everything i mentioned is basically the complete opposite of FFXIV lol
I dont play WoW at the moment, dont have the money and wait for my new Computer.
But already I´m afraid of coming back, seeing all the shit that I have to farm again, all the factions I need to level up and so on.
Seeing all the high numbers. That was the a problem in Shadowlands. I came back after a break and stop playing Shadowlands after some days.
I spent more time in Zuldazar, making Warfronts. Because Shadowlands were not fun.
Hey you need to collect 30.000 Anima and level up your faction to level 80 and then you have the Maw to farm and so on.
And now I´m afraid that it is the same with Dragonfly. I come back and see again all the high numbers i Need to get.
And yeah what Asmongold say here again.
You collect now so many Anima and now? It is useless. Same with the Anima in BfA. And that is something, I dont like.
When I was 18 I started playing World of Warcraft and every player told other players it takes about 2-3 months of 12 hour sessions to reach max level (early WotLK). You then have to spend another month farming for decent gear so you can do normal 25-man raids.
How is that any different from now? How is reputation grinding ANY different than it was back then?
I think what we realize as we grow up. Is that we have too many games wasting our time with trivial boring mechanics: we'd rather do something else. Diablo 4 TRULY showed this flaw. Where as you level up, you actually become weaker compared to low level characters. You VERY quickly realize… that if you aren't in love with the simplistic Arcady gameplay… Diablo 4 is kinda wasting your time if you don't care about the loot, nor reaching max level.
WoW just kept doing it. And people don't readily want to sacrifice 2-3 months of their life (Again.)
holy shit they listened to you Asmon 😮
You shouldn't have to do hours and hours of homework just to play a video game. There, that's it.
Just came back after 10 plus years away, had to start a new account and I hate this new boat and island shit that there is now. I liked the old night elf starting zone but now I haven't been able to sit through this island shit for 3 days…I feel like I wasted 50 bucks coming back to this crap, especially with this new chromie time bullshit.
I've found that many companies that have a great product will eventually prioritize profit over player enjoyment. Bungie, Activision, EA, and Blizzard are all examples. Throw in some managerial incompetence and ignorance with their detachment from the boots on the ground and their customers, and you have what you now have.
They quit cause it's ass.
I still feel this is the case in Dragonflight, I went back to check it out, hit max level then was totally confused as to what to do next. Ended up in a raid group that was farming rares for gear, did that for about an hour and just turned it off.
My friend just loaded mods with waypoints and stuff and I just quit because I'm so annoyed….it's chores the game…it's virtual lawn grooming.
