It’s time for a big fight! Here you will see how the NVIDIA RTX 3090 compete against the AMD Radeon RX 6800XT, tested in open world, ray traced shadows and Raid.

I will test more in deep this two monsters, but today, enjoy this comparison 🙂

The baseline configuration is the following:

Asus Crosshair VIII Hero Bios 2402 Beta
GSkill Trident Z 2x8GB 4600MHz tuned to 3800 C14 with a full manual timings setup
Samsung 960 Evo
EVGA Supernova 1600 G2
EK Full Custom Loop watercooling with 360 XL Radiator and D5 water pump

  1. Not surprised AMD performes better then NVIDIA in ray tracing in WoW. They have been working together with Blizzard in implementing ray tracing within WoW. So the whole software is written basically for AMD, sure NVIDIA will deliver better numbers in WoW over time.

  2. Why benchmark two cards that are not meant to directly compete? If you want to do a fair comparison use a 6900XT. You also overclock one card and not the other – hardly a fair comparison for either card….

  3. I have a 5800x and 6900XT 32GB RAM and I still on 7 setting standing still at 140FPS and in 20man raids will drop to stutter for a second. Custom EK water cooling temps are great. Any ideas?

  4. so basically in 1440P resolution 2080ti and 3090 giving same results? I’d say you have CPU throttling but you have 5600x it can’t be throttling right? There is no other way 2080Ti and 3090 give same result.

  5. The video is a bit older, but first of all thanks! But I need your help!!! Time is short. I had a PC put together. Ryzen 7 5800x, DDR4 3200, nVme2 and MSI Venture 3070Ti 3x V2. But now I'm not sure anymore and could still change the order. The appointment is Monday morning. Should I go with the RX 6800 XT? I mainly play World of Warcraft, but others as well. That on a QN95a with max 120Hz. Always 4k. I now have an i7 4470k with GTX 1080. What should I do? Ray tracing is interesting for me, but if I had to choose one because it has added value, it would be FPS. The RX 6800 XT would be €80 cheaper. I hope someone else reads this, I'm really desperate. 1000 videos watched and still unsure 🙁 Thank you very much Translate with Google

  6. Hi – what gpu do you recommend today to buy if WoW is the game. I have Samsung high refresh rate curved gaming Monitor and usually play at 1440p. I do lot of Raiding and Dungeons. I have AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (yep I know it is quite outdated now) and 32gb RAM. I have 850W power supply (Corsair RMx).

And if AMD, would you recommend 6700XT or 6800XT? 6700XT is about $300 less than $6800XT

  7. pro tip – to understand when you are clearly cpu bottlenecked you have to look at task manager's gpu usage, not msi afterburner's, msi afterburner's is the wrong one, it can show 2% or 99%/100%, but task manager will show 50% 80% or even 20% when afterburner is at 100, what i mean is that msi afterburner's gpu utilization percent is always wrong, task manager's utilization is always correct, since WoW is mainly single core game you unfortunately was cpu bottlenecked with most of these gpus and hence the fps with 3 completely different gpus is about the same almost always
// update, found a fix for that
to fix msi afterburner's readings – enable unified gpu usage readings in general tab of msi afterburner

  8. This was great. Soon i will be probobly building my own or checking prebuilds if price is right/better, really hope you do the new generation of 7900xtx and new amd cpu, and make similar comparison with nvidia/intel , although, if wow is your main game, 6800xt is still a better buy in 2023? Regards
