People say it ruins exploration and immersion but if you wanted to explore and immerse yourself… then just do it. No one is forcing you to fly from A to B
Doesn’t bother me but it definitely got rid of making random friends while waiting for boats and such. It was also the time you’d chat in guild. I do wish flying was everywhere though, I so badly want to get to the top rooms of silvermoon
I still remember blizzard talking how making classic zones a flying zone would be impossible because of how the buildings and zones were made. I kinda still think it ruined alot of wow having flying just readily available and not locked behind gold investments and level requirements. Still waiting on customizable mounts announced with lich king but was deemed impossible as well.😅
No one bothers to mention the thousands of gold blizzard required to learn flying for multiple expansions and then in wod they were just like " hey you know how you spent 10000g for flying well screw you and your gold you gotta walk cause screw you and your time because we're blizzard and we don't care about what you want as long as you're forced to look at this little digital tree you'll never see again"
I mean yeah I agree but I don't wanna lose my flying I don't wanna have to do stupid achievement for content I don't enjoy to have i fine with flying locked behind gold. But I do enjoy being able to dragon ridfrom the get go. And I'll add the pathfinder achievement this expac was fun to get for a change
Flying really makes the world seem miniscule. So does removing the need for travel in general. Vanilla wow feels so much bigger than any of the expansions that have come after it.
The problem with flying wasn't even that it killed immersion, Blizzard just locked it behind achievements, instead of just making zones cater to flying mounts for questing and farming. We never got Storm Peaks 2.0, and I don't even think DF did that either.
Speaking from my own experience, I don’t have much time to play during the week. I prefer flying for the purpose of getting to my destinations as expeditiously as possible so I can maximize what little time I’m afforded.
For those who prefer ground mounts for the sake of immersion, I get it. You have that option. Utilize your ground mounts if you have an abundance of time. Just allow all players who pay the same subscription the freedom of choosing what best suits their needs and their play style. That’s the one thing that’s always bothered me over the years…Blizzard micromanaging how I play.
Felt like a big achievement and when they started gating it is when i stopped playing, i lasted til wod. Unfortunately, the state of the game went way beyond just flying.
If they want to utilize ground mounts, they need to make the zone completely flat. I like getting to rares before they die. Keep the mountains to zones we can fly in
I quit the game when I had to get pathfinder for the 3rd time in a row. Those “critics” don’t have jobs and don’t want the game to be fun, but rather completely homogenized.
dude everything for wow nerds is a controversy, they all want to live in the past, and anything that changes their nostalgia capacity causes them to have a communal conniption fit
No one who was playing OG BC or Wrath 16 years ago (Jeez seems like yesterday) was complaining that they had flight. The only argument was that Cata rebuilt old world and that was honestly a mistake.
The warlords flight fiasco was one of many reasons it as an xpac is seen even to this day as a massive piece of trash. Flying was not a mistake it was a feature that made the early expansions much more enjoyable.
It only became a controversy in Draenor because that was the first expansion that gatekept the ability to fly behind a massive pile of questing.
While although BC did make you get 70 first, from what I remember, it wasn't near as bad as the WOD requirement.
So in Draenor, if you were on a PVP realm, the few that did have flying unlocked were way too OP, while those who didn't have flying had no way of escaping.
flying just highlights the lazyness of the devs with the 3D engine
Honestly the skyriding + the war mode is dope as hell
A no flying WoW would bring back magic it had during vanilla 04-06. A TBC, wotlk and mop without flying and night time would be so dope
Simple solution: if you don't like flying then don't fly.
I like world PvP but the damn rats always fly away like druid
I think they need to go back to pathfinding with dragonriding. Made Khaz Algar feel rather small
Bro this is what wow classic is for, for people who don’t like the new wow, why do people complain about this kind of stuff?
People say it ruins exploration and immersion but if you wanted to explore and immerse yourself… then just do it. No one is forcing you to fly from A to B
They should have had basic flying at launch. Charge 10k gold for training. Dragon riding is what they should have done in Legion.
Flying doesn’t disrupt “pvp”, it disrupts ganking.
I would like a reason to use my ground mounts, was pretty happy when siren isles was ground only
Frag PvP.
It’s not like you have to fly…whoever is saying it “ruined” this or that is paying wrong..😂
I’m for no flying at all and always been.
Doesn’t bother me but it definitely got rid of making random friends while waiting for boats and such. It was also the time you’d chat in guild. I do wish flying was everywhere though, I so badly want to get to the top rooms of silvermoon
Yeah, cause when Blizzard takes away flying it really pisses everybody off by
flying has been in the game for 15 years since cata… who’s still complaining lol

Pathfinding achievement came because blizzard had nothing new to come up and why not timegate flying as a brand new idea.
"But my pvp" okay queue a BG and sit down

Yeah and it costs them tons of players when they try this shit. Just let us fly.
Flying does indeed kill pvp, exploration etc, not everyone is an adhd child that cant enjoy art.

No flying mounts

I stopped playing because they took away flying, or rather won’t ever resub because of it
Flying destroyed the game. It literally kills the point of an open world.
dude everything for wow nerds is a controversy, they all want to live in the past, and anything that changes their nostalgia capacity causes them to have a communal conniption fit
the best thing about flying is that you don't have to if you don't like it.
Flying in azeroth is dumb… All the rest is okay but just azeroth it should never be done and only ground mounts would be much better
Blizzard even said once that adding flying was a mistake.
No one who was playing OG BC or Wrath 16 years ago (Jeez seems like yesterday) was complaining that they had flight. The only argument was that Cata rebuilt old world and that was honestly a mistake.

How does anyone play anything other than classic ? lol retail is so lame 😂
As wow is time consuming AF I think flying was a blessing and should have been introduced long before cata.
It only became a controversy in Draenor because that was the first expansion that gatekept the ability to fly behind a massive pile of questing.

They should just copy FFXIV where you unlock flying in a zone by exploring it thoroughly
They opened pandora's box with flying. Game feels small to me conpared to classic.
Shouldnt have put it in game and just made flight paths much much faster.
its not hot topic. only clasic andys care
Oh yes loses immersion of fetch quests
It killed the game
