Just prior to 9.1 we have seen the Jailer breaking Anduin and as was obvious in Kingsmourne he really did it and Anduin turned into a Lich King or a death knight. Now of course he isn’t really a ‘Lich King’ but most of the community has called him that due to his similarity with Arthas and obviously the role in serving the Jailer.

However recently Blizzard has hinted that his transformation will have large consequences and that Anduin will never really be the same. They also hinted that he will be saved or that we will save him but that he will be change forever. However what does this mean? Will these just be mental changes or is Anduin going to remain as a ‘death knight’/’Lich King’?

  1. mehh i wouldn't mind if he wasn't all about the light anymore. The tauren in me says it's better to strive for ballance anyway. (which is funny considering i was always a feral/guardian xD)

  2. I Think the Light is protecting Anduin his reason he didn't get corrupted remember Arthas lost his connection with the Light after purging Stratholme

  3. i remember i saw a comic book few years ago with Anduin and Velen preparing to fight the void lords and Anduin's hair was white so yeah i don't think he will be like he used to

  4. Garrosh is coming back, and Arthas is as well. I feel Garrosh will remember that the Anduin was good to him. Arthas is also due for a redemption story, he will take up the helm of Domination once it's reforged and become the new Jailer of the Damned.

  5. There once was this comic looking things where anduin fought a demon.. and years after he and velen were talking about a final letter to bring piece or something? Or a final battle, can’t quite remember. But Anduin looked scared and grey af… maybe that’s not that long from now…

  6. Arthas died after killing Malganus in Northrend. When he went into blizzard he frozed to deatha and raised as death knight when he returned to Lordearan. Many players didn't recognize that sudden change either blizzard stated that but in my opinion he died in Northrend and with help of Frostmourne he was raised.

  7. I could also see opposite being true and instead of forsaking or being forsaken by Light Anduin instead fully embraces it. This horrible experience showed him how detrimental the cosmic war is to mortals and through being one with Zovaal he also saw the scope and history of it. He saw long it has been going on and will go on and figures that only way to put an end to it is by uniting everyone under one banner. And while we know, or have been told, that such imbalance would destroy the universe, Anduin doesn't necessarily know or believe it. Maybe he developes similar coping method as Sargeras with his "maybe if I kill everyone, life will take root once more." And like many victims of abuse, Anduin also seeks anything that gives him a feeling of control and safety back and Light has previously given him that power: to resurrect his father, to smite his enemies, to empower entire battlefields. In that fragile state of mind he's also much more susceptible for Light's indoctrination.

All I know is that Light indeed will do everything to save Anduin. After all, the prophecy says that he's gonna be the key player in their war against Void. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they launched even bigger full scale assault to save Anduin than they did to destroy Revendreth. Problem for us would be that if such event occurred, they wouldn't most likely care about casualties, namely Covenants and their people that we've befriended. So if Blizzard needs idea for smaller side patch like the troll patch in Cata, Light invansions would be one possibility.

  8. I think that Anduin will become the embodiment of all the cosmological forces. He is still alive (life), a priest/paladin (Light), infused by the powers of death (Death, obv.), and there was the connection made to the void in BfA (Void). All that's left is Fel and Arcane.

  9. Also, breaking the fourth wall, his Golden's pet project and favorite Mary Sue. She wouldn't let him die, or she'd write him some way that he was light forged undead or something else gross.

  10. I think that in next expansion they will revert him to his normal looks. They will probably do something to him that Xe'ra failed to do to Illidan. Maybe some of the titans or maybe even some of the Eternal ones in this expansion. Or they will just keep him evil and make him final boss of future expansion raid, tier before we kill Zoval.

  11. Here's one thing i think besides his personality change he'll lose his father's sword. He'll probably have ptsd and other issues aftet that probably in his actions blaming himself being able to see EVERYTHING he did but unable to stop it.
